There's a decent variety of fresh, well sized classics. They had hard to find unglazed cake doughnuts but only glazed buttermilk bars. I'd love some unglazed old fashions and buttermilk bars. Their Fritters were huge and there were 4 flavours. I was excited about those but when I cut into one at home I found out it was just mainly bread with a small amount of fruit/ jell on top not mixed all through. Heavenly Donuts, is a place I wish I loved. With a name implying donut bliss, and a status as a local favorite, I'm unfortunately not on the fan bandwagon. I absolutely HATE negative reviews, so I'll still try and sound kind. First unfortunate problem, is the actual food itself. I personally can find better and cheaper donuts, elsewhere. Heavenly is either not as good, more expensive, or likely both, when they are making donuts. (Aside from a Cruller, which I'll occasionally get.) Along with typically tasting stale, I just can't say the food's for me. But that's far from the issue. While their workers are kind, there's a language barrier that really restricts communication. They're hard workers as well, but it just makes it less enticing to try and buy a dozen donuts. Or even just one or two. I actually do love the atmosphere, especially at night. It is a small donut shop, that feels about as cozy as I've ever felt in a donut shop. (Not that I frequent donut shops.) Now, this one's definitely a bias. According to the Heavenly Donuts website, their menu is a quite bit more expansive than what's offered here. I say this is bias, because I'm sure this location has found there isn't a market for those menu items. BUT STILL, there's supposed to be breakfast sandwiches, and that would be really amazing to have. Everyone's working hard, and they're open 24-hours. But with disappointing food that's hard to order, I'd say skip this place. But hey, I seem to be the only one. This place is popular, and loved by most. I guess what I'd REALLY say...is don't listen to me. (I guess I'm not the BIGGEST fan of donuts or sweets in general, so that may be partially to blame for my dissatisfaction. Easily 5 stars for quality and selection! They're consistent too, so we can always count on being super happy no matter what we get. As for the dining room BEFORE the pandemic, it was just "meh". It was clean, but atmosphere wasn't inviting and I wouldn't choose to meet friends there for donuts and coffee, which was sad. I would've given the dining room about 2 stars. Again, that was PRE-Pandemic. But back to the donuts! Today, we stopped this morning after an appointment. Purchased 4. Cinnamon Roll - tasted more like a raised glazed with a little cinnamon mixed in. Glazed old fashion - no crispy crust/ more soft on the outside and dense/dry on the inside - tasted like it was day old. Chocolate/Walnut cake - this was the best of the 4. Likely the freshed of the 4 also. Apple Fritter - Not so good, really oily - almost like the oil wasn't hot enough when it was cooked. Crisp on the outside, but oily/mushy on the inside....this one did not get eaten. It seems that they have a bigger focus on keeping the case full rather than making fresh donuts available. Best donuts I've found out here and the best part is that they are always open! They are large pastries that are not too sugary and light but are not too heavy. Perfect. We always hit this place on Saturday afternoon, and even at that tine the donuts are fresh, pillowy morsels from heaven. My go to is the raspberry fritter, but the other fritters are good to. Usually 6 or 7 different fritters available, even pineapple! The others are all good too, bear claws are great. And 24 hours? That's a thing of the past, really glad they stay open!! Usually love the donuts here and prefer them over to the grocery stores. This last time seemed to have a 'day old' taste. I buy kids fundraiser cards all the time and Heavenly Donuts is usually on them. Although, they appear disgruntled when you use them. Wish they were a bit friendlier.
