Let me start with location. This place is located in a small room inside the bowels of a fitness center, not far from the men's locker room. On the website a men's haircut is listed at $28. That seemed reasonable assuming they had talented and capable stylists. In fact, Grand River Barber Co, a local competitor, has several incredibly talented barbers that charge $28 because of demand. I got a basic men's cut, expecting to be charged $28, and they charged me $49. That's a 75% increase! After getting taken advantage of, I emailed the owner, only to be insulted and told I should have expected to pay that much. This place takes advantage of their customers. read more

My Honest Opinion Initially I gave heat salon 3/5 stars. It is a small salon, previously a blow dry bar, attached to my health club, very convenient for me. However, the owner told me that if I did not give a better rating that she would not do my hair. So I raised the rating, but I ALWAYS felt guilty for lying to soothe her ego and for my ease. Is Heat a 5/5 salon like David Mallett of New York? Absolutely not. As far as the local Lansing area goes? I would say Douglas J would get my best vote. Heat Salon is convenient for members at The M.A.C., not up-to-date on its website and pretty good. I would give it a 3/5, but being coerced by a hairdresser is so weird, I've got to drop it down a half a point 2.5/5 read more

My hair was perfect for graduation! My experience visiting this salon was great. The scalp massage, wash, and blowout was very relaxing and enjoyable. I would reccomend this place to others and would go back!!! read more

Absolutely loved this place. I've been to many Blow Dry Bars and this is one of the best. I came here the day before my wedding to get a blowout for my rehearsal dinner/some pre-updo curls. Dan blew dry my hair (I have a lot of curly, dry, frizzy hair) and it looked amazing. Most Dry Bars I go to they need to use a curling iron to get rid of the extra frizzies, but my hair looked great just with a round brush. They used Bumble products, which work very well and smell delicious. Highly recommend this place! Can't wait for my next appointment. read more

The stylists here are quite friendly and I've been surprised they remember me even though I don't go there all of the time. Something I really like about them is that they actually listen to you when you explain what you want. There is a willingness to offer recommendations, if you ask and are open to suggestion, but at the end of the day it's all you and they respect that. They give you a hand massage while you're getting your hair cut, a nice touch! If you're not a member of the Michigan Athletic Club (MAC) you may have some trouble getting in for your appointment. The MAC is pretty stringent on who they let in if you're not a member, so be warned. You may have to wait a bit for them to verify you have an appointment. read more

Also, when I used to receive dip for my fingernails, my nail tech would file the sides of my nails so hard that I left with cuts on each side of my fingers from the file. They would bleed and hurt for the next week.

What do you do when you sit down for a hair color and the colorist changes the product you love? You have no choice right then and there. I am not happy at all with the results, sure they will offer to fix it. Who wants to spend another 2 hrs at the salon. A phone call to warn me would have avoided my INTENSE dislike with how this was handled. I will find a better salon that treats their customers with respect. It is totally unprofessional to be treated like this without a call to give me an option to change my hair color treatment before I actually came in for my appointment.

Just walking into Heat I felt like an elegant lady, its beautiful and relaxed atmosphere highlighted with sparkling chandeliers. Jeremy, my stylist, welcomed me warmly. We spent time consulting about what I wanted to walk out looking like. He nailed it. My cut had my curls shaped and coaxed into the exact style I was wanting. I adore my bayalage color and angled hair cut I received from Kenneth Brandt Salon! I walked into the salon for the first time a little hesitant with having a new stylist and having a new unique color idea, but I am so happy with my results! My stylist talked me through every step of the color and made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing. She even told me what haircut would look best while trying to grow it out. This is my second visit to have my hair washed and blow dried/styled and I'm really happy with the results! I recently moved out of metro Detroit and was looking for a blow dry bar like the ones out there... thank goodness for this place! I have very thick curly hair that I like to be styled straight and Jessica does a great job taming it.
