Beach access to the river (you can also set up an appointment with Uncle Scott's Outfitters and be picked up at this park to drive up river and float down the river for a couple of hours, then you get off at Riverwest's beach. Private park open to the public, so you have to pay to get in. I personally don't have little kids or anything but I have seen plenty of families camp out here.

I was…read moretraveling across the country and this quiet park situated about 25 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska was the perfect place to rest for the night. I discovered Elkhorn Crossing through the app on my phone called Campendium. Upon arriving here, there's a little "introduction board" posted near the entrance. I pulled my car over and read the sign with instructions on how to get situated camping. There was a small pamphlet/card to fill out. Included with this was an envelope to deposit $10 cash or a check into the drop-box. Then I teared off the receipt portion and attached it next to the campsite of my choosing. That was it. I was good to go! I'd just like to point out that Elkhorn Crossing is closed for 5 straight months out of the year from November 1 - April 1 which obviously makes sense due to the winter conditions. For me stopping on by back in August 2020...I had nothing but warm weather, lol. What I really liked about this Elkhorn Crossing was the amount of space and area to spread out on. So although when I visited back over the summertime there were other campers nearby my tent...they actually appeared far away. I felt like I had a big section of grass all to myself. Also...this was important. You were allowed to pitch your tent on the grass area so it made for a fluffy setting to sleep upon. Most campsites these days (especially the more primitive ones in remote locations) feature hard dirt grounds to rest on. For those campgrounds I use my inflatable mattress for padding. Some real good aspects to Elkhorn Crossing that I appreciated was not only the campground area being so spacious...but every site had a barbecue pit to cook including picnic tables. For anyone bringing food and groceries with them...it's the ideal place to enjoy a cookout. Also good was being able to back my car nearby my tent so this way I didn't have to walk back and forth far setting myself up. If I had to reveal anything disappointing, it'd be that there weren't any showers or restrooms on the grounds. Sometimes I get real lucky at campsites I pick where places actually offer these amenities. But usually I have to pay more than $10. Those types of campgrounds (mostly within RV Parks) cost more in the range of $25 - $50 for the night. But I am easy. I have no issues using the vault toilets. Although I never explored around this Elkhorn Crossing Recreation Area, I did check online a lot of other outdoor activities for having fun here. This included... - Fishing - Float trips down the river - Playgrounds - RV Camping - Wildlife Viewing (though I didn't see anything) I really liked the picturesque scenery during sunset. I sat back in my lounge chair and appreciated the views out into the distance. Goes to show how much space there was available here that I was able to admire an evening summer sunset. Overall, I very much enjoyed my time and stay for the night here at Elkhorn Crossing Recreation Area. It was a great pit-stop along my driving journey around the USA. I'd certainly recommend to anyone needing an easy going stop for the evening...this place is more than serviceable.

There is no water or electricity hookups but we do not need them. There is no dump but there is a Loves 4 miles away where you can. It's quiet and right on the river. Sites are level.

I've used other Avis locations in the city and the 156th and W Center Rd/Omaha Avis is, by far, the most professional and best to work with. I had to extend my rental by a week and they didn't gouge me on price like other places have.

I will never rent from Avis again. The customer service is beyond poor. I was in a car accident…read more(not at fault) and had to file a claim through my insurance while waiting for the at fault party's insurance to move forward with paying our their claim. I needed a car right away for work and made a huge mistake by going through Avis! I was given an initial quote of $31 per day and of course has to extend my rental out multiple days while waiting for my car to be repaired. I was never told the daily rate would increase which caused overage charges above what the insurance company would allow. I was also charged toll fees on the car and I'm pretty sure those don't exist in Omaha or Nebraska at all. Needless to say I'm still fighting with them about these charges and getting nowhere. The manager at this location talks in circles and is no help whatsoever! Please rent your cars elsewhere!!

According to a story in the Examiner, "Magical Journey's Carriage Service as it is also known, has been in the business of giving dreamy horse and carriage rides to fun-seeking customers since 1978." They have a variety of carriages but the basic model plies the streets and offers visitors and locals alike a great and fun time. I took a ride when I visited recently and I loved it! The trip reminded me of the Cinderella Carriage Company in San Diego that you can ride around downtown and the Seaport Village area. Rides in the carriages range from $20 to $100, depending upon the distance traversed and time spent in the carriage. Usually the rides are slated for the afternoons and days in which the weather allows. You can book online and buy gift certificates also or just wander up to the corner on Howard Street & 11th and wait for the next horse and buggy to show up. It is even more authentic because the horses clip-clop along the quaint brick streets of the Old Market area and you just feel like you are in another time, despite the traffic and congestion around you. Carriages available (according to the Examiner) are singles (seating up to 6 adults), doubles (seating up to 9 people), and a beautiful third style known as the Cinderella Carriage. On the website, the Cinderella Carriage looks so romantic & magical! I know if I was ever getting hitched in Omaha, I would insist upon it for my wedding. 5 YELP STARS for this very cool service in the heart of the Old Market.

Unfortunately we didn't get the same results this time...I can't even recall the drivers name, but she was the younger gal. We were told (again) that the Grand Finale would be an hour long...it was actually 41 minutes long (I timed it)...I asked the driver at the end if that was a full hour and she said it was ten minutes short...I timed it on my iPhone, it was a 41 minute ride. If you pay $100, you should get what you pay for. Buyer beware! Hold them to what they advertise. I plan on reporting this incident to the appropriate officials tomorrow morning. Very sad considering the service we had before. Hope who ever reading this has a better experience.
