3.5 rounding up to 4 stars... I have skied in New York, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho, so how does Mt Crescent (opened in 1961!!) compare you may ask? Not even close, LOL, but that's not the point here. We in and around Omaha live in the Great Plains. There simply is no skiing or snowboarding anywhere close by, and for years my snowboard was collecting dust. Last year we decided it was time for our daughter to take some skiing lessons and brought her out to Mt Crescent, which for us in North Omaha, means a quick drive into Iowa across the Mormon Bridge. So yes the place is incredibly small, with basically 2-3 runs and two lifts. They make and groom their own snow so don't expect a lot of fresh powder here. But I have to say, I actually have fun skiing here with my daughter, and because of this little place in Iowa, she has learned to ski and is really enjoying it. They offer lessons (with discounted/free season passes to go along with it), and you can rent all your gear there if you don't have your own. They also offer tubing and sledding (with b-day party options for those). They recently put in a really long zip-line as well. I haven't tried it, but it runs the entire length of the hill, so it looks like fun! The 'lodge' is one big two story building, with ticketing and food on the main floor, and the ski rental portion on the lower level. Real basic food options here, think basic fried bar food. They do offer beer as well, but your basic non-craft styles, along with limited wine and cocktails. Overall this place isn't the biggest, the best, or the cheapest, but it is definitely a fun place to go and get outside during the winter. Get some practice in here and have some fun, then plan your trips to Colorado!

We didn't ski. I went to zip line! Called ahead, booked one run and got more after we got there. I had never done it before and had a blast. Every single person working was a pleasant person. We even met the owner skiing our last run of the day. It was a fun day ride from Des Moines if you have never done it. The fall colors were lots of fun to see from the to of the hill. It was busy but they got our extra friends in too. Good job. Thanks for making my first time awesome.

Still wish I could give zero stars. It is now over a month later and they keep promising to give my $256 back, but I haven't seen it yet.

We had purchased our passes ahead of time because we were a party of 8 and wanted to make sure we were all together. We bought the family pack which includes climbing gloves, which are a requirement. If you have 4 people attending, this is your best deal. They do also offer some "try it" deals that seem to be a good value. So keep your eye peeled if you're looking to save some cash. After check in, the staff sends you to the harness area where you get strapped in and watch a short safety video. Then a guide teaches you about your mechanism as you're responsible for all your moves on the course. (You can call for staff if you need assistance while on the course. They had a lot of available staff.) The kids did a ton of different courses. I did the black first (with the kids, who left me in the dust). It is highly recommended that you don't do black first, but here I was ... well I completed the entire course so I guess there's some bragging rights but next time I'll stick to the other [easier] courses.

Despite the challenge, the valet staff did a great job at check-in clearing the driveway late in the evening, and later at check-out when they had to warm, brush and scrape every car. Kudos to a very efficient operation. The entire property is gorgeous and exquisitely cared for. The inside of the building has that classic early 20th-century feel, with tile floors, replica period furniture, and lots of comfortable nooks. Some areas remind me of the hotel from that show Magic City, with lots of light-colored wood/wicker, lots of plants, and vibrant color choices, like the teal wall on the back hallway. Not what I was expecting in downtown Omaha, but truly one of the most beautiful properties I've seen anywhere. I had a suite and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The pictures others have posted are very accurate. The elevators are a little sketch, so if you're on a low floor, I'd recommend just taking the stairs. Food and beverage on property are amazing. I arrived just in time for last call at the bar, which is in a separate building outside on the other side of the pool out back. It was all decked out for Christmas with a working fireplace, and felt like I was sneaking away to Santa's cottage for drinks! Similarly breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, highlighted by lattes from the spectacular on-site coffee bar, which offers every coffee option you can imagine. My wife's raspberry latte was lovely. Every aspect of the stay was excellent and I highly recommend this property. Pro tip: As of late 2025, this property is one of Chase's "The Edit" hotels, so those with certain Chase cards can book via its website and use one of your twice-yearly $250 Edit credits to cover the cost of the stay and get a $100 property credit.

For our Halloween visit, street parking was available. The room was attractive and well decorated. All features functioned as expected. Double bonus that they let us bring our dogs. The pool was busy in summer. In winter it's covered and has shuffle board on it. The Halloween party was in the pool area's bar. Good location for a group event. Will return.
