Service sucks here. Just not helpful, oddly unfriendly people. Dunno, maybe we were just too normy…read morefor them to care. They were dismissive of my teen daughter to the point of being rude. Then had none of the MTG she was looking for..and don't even try asking for Pokémon here. Their live-in regulars get better treatment. They do have a large selection and more hobby variety than seen elsewhere. But inventory is very much overpriced with little discounted (unlike competitors). There is so much stuff here that in places it feels less a retail store and more like someone's stored collection. Hastur suits my gaming needs just fine and with MUCH friendlier people.

First, I was in the store, browsing and trying to make up my mind, and no one greeted me. Instead, what i heard was the height of unprofessional behavior. One of the employees cursed at another from across the counter. Not once, but three times. I understand that this is a casual store, and have loved the atmosphere in the past, but as a representative of the business, and an employee, foul language is off putting at best. I am far from offended, if I had heard it at the game tables I would not have thought twice about it, but from an employee, on the clock, that is sad and unprofessional. I have spent thousands at this store, and countless trips in, before, when it was High Gear, and now Salt City Games, but I won't be back.

Game Haven - This is $250. I think it could be $75-100.

If you want to find people to play Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh with, every Saturday they have tournaments. You like magic cards, there is almost always someone in the store playing magic but every Friday they always have some magic event happening. You like painting figurines and playing war hammer, they have a section set up for you and every Monday is night where people come to paint there figurines. Outside of this they have a great cafe. They have your standard coffees but my favorite thing is they have a ever changing specialty drinks special that changes season to season or if their is a big nerdy event happening. On of my favorite drinks I had was when they made drinks inspired by and to celebrated "Detective Pikachu". The biggest item for me this store offers is their board games. They have a ton of demos you can play in the store and cafe or rent to take home. Every Tuesday night and Sunday their is a community that comes together to play some board games. If their is a game you want to play and not sure you want to buy it yet, come to these events. If you go often enough and I am sure someone will bring your game in and you will get to play it. For me, these events are like a midweek Christmas, always looking forward to them. As for their events, what I have said does not even scratch the surface. Game Have always seems to have something coming down the pipeline. They have Mini-Cons, Halloween events, psychic and fortune-telling events and so so much more. They support local vendors and artists and just as a ridiculously amazing community. Not to get to personal but Game Haven's community is very inviting and accepting. From their customers, to their employees, to the owner himself. I was very anti-social and depressed a few years ago but Game Havens community accepted me, and I have met some outstanding people and made some life long friendships. A lot of these events have been suspended due to the pandemic but once everything is over, I encourage you to come to this location if this is a community you want to be a part of. Come to one of the events, have a cup of coffee or tea, sit down and as long as you come with a positive outlook and are understanding and respectful, you will have a fun and outstanding time that you will not soon forget!

My ultimate favorite part about this place is that you can rent a game to take home to try before committing to purchasing a $40 niche game. Very worth the adventure.

At the time of this review, I am STILL waiting on my Evolving Skies ETB from them…read more I found them thru an ad promoting the box for preorders and was initially wary but a lot of people were saying how they were legit, so I bought two. This was back in July 2021. As of now, Sept 23, 2021, I still haven't received any updates. Asking them thru ig, they give you an automated message saying how the boxes are delayed (according to them, they are receiving them in waves) and do not respond to emails at all. I have tried to be understanding of the situation but they have the worst customer service ever. I start to get sus when I noticed they were deleting comments that were asking about updates for their orders on their evolving skies post. I was one of those deleted comments. My advice: don't have preorders opened for months if you can't guarantee that customers will get them at a timely manner. I noticed they told someone they had preorders opened since MAY 2021. I'm not surprised if they just oversold. Giving them until the end of the month to respond to my email before I dispute with my bank because this is ridiculous.

On October 26th I pre-ordered some Pokemon cards and the release date has come and gone with very little response from the store itself. I reached out days after the pre release and release and was told it was shipping that day (November 12), in an email exchange where I was asked for more information and just got those two words as a response. "Shipping today." No explanation, no further information, and still no shipping information or products. I have since sent two more emails and have had no response. Just keep this in mind when looking for a place to give your business to.

Pretty cool store…read more I met some friends here to play some magic. Before playing, we browsed the store a little and they have pretty much everything you'd expect a game store to have. The storefront itself is probably a bit on the larger end of what most stores are like. However, as we came to find out, the play area of the store makes the total are of the store pretty huge. Not quite Oasis Games territory, but not terribly far off either. The play area is to the left of the front desk and its set up kind of like a large loft. Underneath there 10 or so D&D or warhammer tables, and then you take some stairs and above there are a dozen traditional sized tables for magic or whatever else.

Plus, if you want a bit more privacy for your group, you can rent their private area on the top right of the store at a really affordable rate. Make sure to check out their clearance rack (it's insane sometimes, with discounts up to 80% off retail). If you're not attending their Black Friday events, you're seriously missing out. They even have a few kickstarters sprinkled in there huge board game section. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome, so if you're looking for a great spot to play in Salt Lake, this is the place! Mike
