How lucky am I that Tyler and I crossed paths at the gym because now, she is the ONLY person I let near my hair. She helped me through a particularly tough transition which involved from root touch ups every two weeks at Madison Reed that were frying my hair, and a hairstyle that should have been retired years ago. Tyler gave me the cutest pixie cut that styles itself (good thing because I am inept) and figured out the best way for me to grow in my grey. Now we do low lights every few months, I get slight modification on my bixie and instead of feeling like an old lady, I feel like a hip chick. But not inappropriately-so. Tyler is very good at hitting the sweet spot us over 65 gals want - a haircut that let's people know we still very much care about how we look, but we are very comfortable in our skin. She's fab at what she does, and a good person on top of all that. read more

Ty is a hair whispering goddess! This truly gifted stylist makes it so easy to have beautiful hair thanks to her keen understanding of how to cut and style coarse, wavy, unruly blonde locks. I don't know how she does it, but she delivers every time. I've referred her to everyone I know because Ty is just that good. Thank you queen! read more

LOVE TYLER!! She is the best stylist I have ever had, hands down. I got my hair cut and colored by her at her old salon years ago but sadly moved away. I tried tons of salons but never found anyone like her, and my hair never looked as good. I finally just moved back to the bay and the first thing I did was make an appointment with Tyler. She remembered me, gave me a rad haircut and beautiful balayage and I could not be more stoked!! Tyler is truly gifted and also a total sweetheart. She really cares about her clients and her work. You will love her, I promise! read more

Tyler Tobey!!! I've been going to Tyler for all hair appointments since 2012. She makes me feel Ah-mazing each and every time I find myself in her care. My hair comes out with a new fresh style each appointment because I like going in with an open mind and trusting Tyler's talent. The products she uses smell divine and leave me smelling divine for days after the appointment. I also love the ambiance of this salon. It makes me feel like i'm on a Caribbean vacation for a couple hours. I couldn't recommend Tyler more! I started seeing her at another salon close to my home in oakland and have followed her all the way out to Walnut Creek since I don't trust anyone else with my hair. read more

Hands down my favorite haircut ever!! I have had a string of bad hairstylists in walnut creek over the past few years. I have very thick hair and one left my hair wet, saying they didn't have enough time to dry it. Another chopped off way too much. Another time, I came home to find giant uneven pieces that were several inches longer than the rest. I was pretty scarred by the time a friend recommended Hearten Salon, and I'm so glad she did because it is the best haircut I have ever received. Tyler knows her way around thick, wavy hair, and she cut it to take a lot of weight out while framing my face and accentuating my waves beautifully. She also gave lots of practical and easy tips (not the "you need to buy all of this expensive stuff and spend all this time" tips) on how to manage my waves that I can easily incorporate into my daily routine. A lot of salons will spend a bunch of time round brushing hair that looks super cool but I could never replicate at home. Instead, she showed me an easy way to style my hair with a diffuser that looked incredible and I could do myself. She is also so fun and easy to talk to! I'm usually the awkward silent type during haircuts but she was so wonderful to chat with. I booked my next appointment the same day as my first and can't wait to go back! read more

Not only does Tyler do the most fantastic job with my blonde balayage and long layers, I look forward to my appointments with her because she is such a joy to be around. I followed her from a previous salon in Oakland and now make the trip to beautiful Hearten Salon in Walnut Creek to get my hair done. She is really that amazing and I can't recommend her enough. read more

I spent 10+ years coloring and cutting my own hair. I had about as much faith in har stylists as I did in alien abductions because of some really bad experiences. After box color and a really outdated and unflattering style, I finally asked my two friends who was responsible for their consistently amazing tresses. Enter Tyler. She didn't laugh me out of the chair when I brought my mop to her, she LISTENED to what I was comfortable with, she looked at my inspiration photos, and she was honest. I walked out feeling confident and I cannot tell you how many people have complimented my hair because I have lost count. As far as I am concerned, I won't go to anyone else. Ever. My hair grows out well. How many times have you heard that? Even if I have to wait to make my appointment because I am traveling, it still looks good. On top of that, Tyler is such a warm spirit, I feel like I make an appointment to hang out with a cool friend and she just happens to make my hair look fabulous. I love spending time with her and if I didn't think she was super busy, I would probably ask her out for a drink. Her salon is beyond cute, accommodating the perfect new-hair-Instagram-pic. read more

I had my first visit with Tyler today and she was incredible! From the comfort and warmth of her beautifully decorated intimate space in downtown WC to the way she makes you feel at home and listens to what you really want to do with your hair... Tyler is wonderful! I have long locks and was very much in need of some hair therapy. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and totally delivered the dimension I was so desperately wanting! She spent nearly 3 hours on my hair (its thick & long!) and we had such a lively conversation the time actually flew by. I love rocking my new do and look forward to seeing her again in a few months! read more

I love love love Tyler!!! Her shop is the absolute cutest and the location is great (near a bunch of restaurants and shopping) so make a whole day of seeing her! She's done cuts and color for me and the job is always fabulous. I'm located a little far from her and don't get to see her as often as I'd like but every few hair sessions I would make my way back to her just to see her. She shows the upmost love and care in your hair and her clients as individuals. Tyler is all around great for the soul, don't miss out on her :) read more

If you are looking for a stylist that is talented, knowledgeable, intuitive, professional, cleanly and an overall hair expert then Tyler is your person! Here are four reasons why I trust her with my haircut and color: 1. In my experience, the degree in which she attunes to who you are and your personal style is unprecedented by any other stylist. This is important because she can identify"my style" and cut my hair accordingly. I give her artistic liberties every time. She is THAT good. 2. AND every time I leave the space my haircut is gorgeous. She is so talented by the way in which she styles for the interim between appointments. In other words, there is no awkward layering or color malfunction due to her forward planning. 3. She is knowledgeable/resourceful when it comes to caring for and managing hair. As a newbie to hair effort, I know I can ask Tyler anything and she would have a solution or suggestion. She wants your hair to succeed! 4. She is so kind and wonderful and is totally someone who exudes love and kindness. Tyler is the best! read more

Tyler is an angel and a savant of understanding color, cut, and tailoring it all to YOUR life and personality. She's the BEST! I have been going to Tyler since she was in Oakland, and I would follow her if she moved even further away - she's that good. She knows what looks good on individuals and assesses your lifestyle & maintenance schedule to color your hair. Many of my girlfriends have gone to her and they all had different cuts/styles perfectly suited to them. I often let my hair grow out because I forget to make more appointments - it always looks awesome, because she knows that's how I roll! Also she is super fun to talk to and cute and great. Go to her and be happy. Love you Tyler! read more

Tyler is the best. When my colleague started sporting the cutest bangs that perfectly framed her adorable face, I had to ask who cut her new do. I have followed Tyler over to her sweet salon in the Creek and referred many friends to her (who also have copious amounts of hair like me--mine is Asian stick straight). Women of color, Tyler knows texture and what works and what doesn't. Added bonus, she is an amazingly warm and authentic person--woman owned and run business! Tip: park at the Broadway Plaza mall for 3 hrs for free. read more

Love Chandry! I've been going to her for years in San Francisco and couldn't be happier to have her in Walnut Creek now! The salon is beautiful, chic and right on Main street downtown. Tyler is the best! Hair stylist, human, advice giver, everything! My entire family has been seeing Tyler for years. She has helped me out of hair emergencies (I promised her I'd never try and be a brunette again). But mostly she just keeps my hair looking amazing. I'm a natural very dirty blonde and my hair grows very fast, it used to require a lot of maintenance. Tyler has transitioned me to have a more natural root so I don't look homeless after 3 weeks. She always chooses the process that is best for my hair and my wallet. Her prices are extremely reasonable for her level of skill and the time and care she takes. I can't say enough about her. I live pretty far away and I can't imagine not driving the 1.5 hours to see her. read more
