The hearing aids themselves cost a little over $6,000, and UHC covered everything except the $290. I was never informed that there was an unpaid balance, and I did not know the account had been sent to collections. I was called, by Shelly, who informed me--rather bluntly--that the Hearing Aid Center no longer accepts Partnership HealthPlan as a secondary payer. She also told me I would need to pay the $290 before I could be seen again. I find it disappointing that after being paid more than $6,000, the center is unwilling to see a patient over a remaining balance of $290, without even offering a payment plan. My experience left me feeling that the priority at this center is money rather than patient care, and that I was treated dismissively because of an outstanding balance I was never informed about. I am sharing this so others are aware: make sure your insurance information is correct and confirmed, and always check what is--or is not--being billed or paid. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to proceed with caution if considering this Hearing Aid Center or go somewhere else for services. read more

I'm happy to say the business manager Irma reached out to my wife and I regarding this matter. Irma asked us what had happened and apologized for the service provided. She values customer service and takes it very seriously. The powers that may be have made our situation right and resolved any issues we may have going forward that is customer service. We are happy because Karen and Denise have always been great to my wife and she would have missed them. I'm changing my 1 star to 4 because if this never happened a 4 star is what both Karen and Denise are. The front desk was our complaint and really is the face of the company. I am updating my experiences with Hearing Services of Vallejo because I have had numerous satisfactory experiences since my initial review. I ensured I only saw Grace after my initial Yelp posting and had nothing but exemplary experiences. However, she is not longer at the Vallejo office. I really, really, really miss Grace's presence. However, in being handled by other employees since Grace left Hearing Services of Vallejo, I have been treated respectfully. Furthermore, none of my phone messages were neglected to be passed along to the Vallejo staff. So I feel that my perfect storm of bad circumstances brought up some excellent customer service tips. Particularly when one office's team is covering for patients at another office. Essentially, you don't know your customer. Listen before lecturing. I am only giving four stars because my experiences have been so inconsistent. My terrible experiences transpired when there was cross office staffing and phone coverage. Stuff just gets garbled up somehow. So I would refer someone to Hearing Services of Vallejo with the warning to always try to speak with the same Vallejo assigned employees. Learn their names or which days they are in the Vallejo office to have face to face conversation. If your Otolaryngologist says you need a hearing aid, Hearing Services of Vallejo will help you out with finding the hearing aid that fits your needs. However, hearing services is in the business of selling hearing products. My viewpoint is to utilize Hearing Services for their expertise in hearing equipment, equipment check ups, and equipment warranties. However, I ultimately seek my independent doctor's diagnosis of the significance of hearing loss or it's changes over time? I would seek someone without skin in the game to check my hearing too, for a second opinion. My tinnitus is really soft ringing or blasting like a tornado siren depending on my other health challenges. I can have significantly different hearing test results depending on whether I have significant upper respiratory inflammation or not. My doctor sees the whole picture. He sees if my eustachian tubes are functioning or completely shut off when I swallow, etc. Kind of like taking your new car to the dealer for warranty diagnostics and preventative maintenance. They are experts on what they market, sell, and service. Maybe just not on the subject of all forms of transportation that exist in your community or where your home is specifically. The dealer is expert in their product. A transportation specialist may suggest that owning a car isn't what makes the most sense now? Maybe an electric bicycle and joining vehicle share program makes more sense for your particular location where someone out in rural location may really need to replace their vehicles frequently for genuine safety. All hearing loss is not the same. Just continue explore options over the years because technology in hearing aids isn't the only thing that changes. In a few situations, new medical procedures and technology also. Sometimes a neutral specialist consult is good to involve in conversations requiring financial investments. If you don't keep asking your doctors about your hearing loss or research your medical condition that affects your hearing periodically, you may miss an optimal new option in today's society. It might be too expensive during its technological infancy though, so a newer hearing aid makes the most sense for your future, fantastic! I simply suggest purchasing medical equipment being well informed of the underlying condition of your loss. Is it something that may be treated so you hear better? If an hearing aid is best for your medical situation, then the assigned Vallejo team takes care of their local residents. They know their stuff when it comes to hearing devices. read more

I know it's been a long time since I last reviewed this place. But I feel like I should update considering the last experience I had here which my husband had reviewed about an me it was not very pleasant nor good. While I had no issues with any of the folks in the back office, it was the front office reception area that was my issue. I don't want to rehash what happened as it has been resolved in a professional and quick manner which I truly appreciate. Yes the review my husband wrote was about the one person I dealt with but in my opinion that should not be a reflection of the company as a whole. The Vallejo office (Denise and Karin especially) have always been there for me with all my hearing needs and I truly rely on them and the service they provide to keep me going. I just wanted to give them a thumbs up for going above and beyond to keep me happy and a satisfied customer. Wow! Gotta say what a fantastic experience! My husband suffers from complete hearing lost on his right side due to surgery and it was only recently that we discovered there was an option other then surgery to help him deal with such a lost of losing half his hearing! In comes our first visit to Hearing Services of Vallejo! We were promptly greeted by Jodi at the front desk. And was later seen by Denise who did his hearing exam and first initial review of what options he had to choose from. Denise was very attentive and was a great listener as my husband loves to talk! She was patient and was able to discuss with us what we could choose from. Unfortunately when it came down to the cost of the hearing aid it was beyond what we could afford as our insurance would not cover any of the expenses. Jody tried her best to help us by offering us different options but at the time we just could not bear the expense. Not at any time did we feel pressured to buy these hearing aids and I really appreciate that. This was in June. Now flash forward 3 months later. By the grace of god and the support of the people around us we were finally able to afford my husband's hearing aids. And after careful consideration we decided we wanted to come back to this place to complete our purchase. After all you can go the cheaper route of places like say Costco but as the saying goes "You buy Cheap, You Get Cheap!" there was so much offered in getting his hearing aid at this location (excellent customer service and the willingness to help us when necessary and the ease of having repairs made when needed) we weren't just another number at some big box store that sells hearing aids along with a giant box of cookies. My husband ended up calling Jodi on Monday at his lunch, not expecting to be seen this week at all (after all they are always busy and booked up), but she was able to make magic work and we were able to get an appointment that afternoon! When we arrived at the place Jodi did remember us and greeted us warmly! We were seen within minutes! That was when we met Karin who was equally as nice and accommendating as all the other ladies I've seen thus far, she went over was we had discussed last time we were there and was able to give us new information to help us make our decision. She was also able to explain different options on what we could afford. When we agreed on a product she was was even able to adjust her schedule to meet us at the Fairfield location which was much easier for us since we lived out there for the offical fitting. Overall, We had a positive experience here and will continue to come here for any of our hearing needs! I've seen Karin several times; initially for new hearing aids and then adjustments. As a fibromyalgia sufferer, I am extremely sensitive to pressure and touch and was nervous about getting fitted.
