Just wanted to give a shout out to Sal and the crew at Healthcare Solutions in South Edmonton. I was looking for a scooter that was the best to take on an airplane and suit my mobility issues both on holidays and at home. I checked things on line and also made a few phone calls to other places but but still felt lost. When I phoned Healthcare Solutions in South Edmonton , they connected me with Sal and he made the entire process so easy for me. We both had the internet page up and he walked me through the different options. He answered every question about the scooter itself and airline regulations. I did all this by phone and had my sister pick it up. She called me right after picking it up and raved both about the store and also all the employees she was in contact with. I purchased a lift chair from healthcare solutions in May 2025.I am totally disappointed,the chair has caved in I can feel the springs, it is so uncomfortable. went to see them a couple of months ago about this problem,no service at all,they just ignore you. After many phone calls, they sent a technician to look at it 2 weeks ago I still haven't heard from them.I am 88 yrs old,I need my chair. 2100.dollars later still no word. There are so many extraordinarily poor reviews of this company, why hasn't anything been done about it. My experience was similar to the rest of you. I bought a scooter from them on Monday and tried to return it to them on the Friday of that same week. I bought the scooter for $4300 and at the time was not informed that it was a final sale, nor about the 25% reshelving fee. Furthermore, there was no mention of either on the receipt. The first woman from whom I bought the scooter, was attentive and kind. On point of returning it, I dealt with the most caustic, rigid, dismissive, condescending, rude woman. I am a 76 year old woman with obvious mobility problems. She didn't listen to my concerns, and seemed to just want me out of the store. The issue with the first scooter was that I could not lift it. It was 64 pounds. I suggested to her that I wouldn't mind making an exchange for a lighter scooter. She curtly advised me that all their scooters were over 60 pounds. There was a small one next to her leg. I looked it up when I got home and it weighs 47 pounds. Thus, she either doesn't know her products or lied to get rid of me. She also suggested that I "run over to the other store "and try to return it or exchange it over there.. The other store is 35 minutes away. I asked her if they would except my return since I bought it here. Her response was, "oh they should". I paid my $1000 to return the scooter and went to their second store to check things out. I went to customer service and asked about the return policy and reshelving fee. They didn't know anything about either. I phoned Darin, the owner and CEO, however, after reading the other reviews, I don't expect a reply. I will be reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau And I am in the process of submitting the problem to CBC's GO PUBLIC . read more

I brought my dad's electric scooter in to be repaired. I got told that it was too old to be repaired. After arguing with them about it as he bought it less than 3 years ago from them , they discovered that they mixed up the paperwork with another scooter. Almost 3 weeks later they still haven't even looked at it. All I could get from them is it might be this or it might be that but no real answers as they didn't have time to look at it. They only have one technician and his main job is selling units not repairing them. I then got told it would be a month or more before it is fixed. 2 months to fix a scooter is outrageous. I would never recommend them to anyone!! read more

When you call to order products, specifically incontinence products they never have them in stock. Why? This is a family run business. If someone in purchasing needed these products, I 'm sure they'd have them. You are charged the day you purchase the items and it's been almost two weeks and no products yet. My doctor suggested I go here for my first cane because she wanted to make sure I found something properly suited, correctly adjusted, and latex-free. Unfortunately, had it not been for the research I did online ahead of time, I would not have received any of these things. No one greeted or assisted us, even though we were clearly lost in the store. Once we found the cane I had looked up online, we brought it to the clerk with questions about height sizing (I got more valuable information from a video I watched at home) and when my husband inquired about my latex allergy, she put her hands up and said, "I don't know anything about latex things!" I had another question, but she turned away from us and helped another gentleman instead. Very helpful. I don't know if it is because we are young, or because I don't look disabled, but this was an awful shopping experience. Which is a shame, because as a millenial, I'm the sort who will want to eventually purchase multiple canes in various colours and styles for different occasions and a good experience here could have created a customer for decades to come. I bought a remote control for my sisters hospital bed and when I plugged it in I realized that the remote I already had probably worked but hadn't been plugged in properly. Sure enough I plugged in the old one properly and it worked fine. I thought fine I'll just return the new one I just bought. Only problem was by the time I made my way back across town to the store they wouldn't let me return it. It does say on the bill they have a 7 day return policy "subject to approval ". I was trying to return it a few weeks after I had bought it. In my opinion that's terrible customer service. As well as bad policy. read more

What happened? A year or 2 ago the business had very accomodating and friendly assistants. Now, my last visit left a bad taste. I was in line at the customer service and Meghan finished with the last client. She didn't call or even tell me to hold on a minute but kept me waiting and waiting and waiting until another customer service rep showed up, looked at her, then looked at me and proceeded to assist me. A'lora did help, thank you very much but it was not the friendliest service but more like 'forced' service even though I did get my products for my elderly parent. This says to me that the reps like Meghan are lazy, unaccommodating, unfriendly and unprofessional. Will I go back again? Probably not. Healthcare Solutions in north Edmonton has to be one of the most incompetent business in Edmonton.There incompetence with rude employees lack of knowledge and there ability to follow thru with there business dealings with customers is appalling. If there was a negative star rating they would be -10.This is a business that is suppose to be dealing in health care aids, and most of there dealings are with sick and disabled people.Unfortunately this being a niche business with very little competition they don't care about service at all.It's a shame that most of the government agencies that assess the needs of there clientele have little choice but to deal with them.I have been dealing with this company for 8 years now and not one of the dealings have been positive . They make you pay upfront and in full for everything that needs to be brought in to the store they give you an estimated time of delivery and never deliver on the time line that is given and if after 10 months of waiting you want to cancel the order they have the nerve to charge you a 25% fee for canceling the order And on a 8000.00 wheelchair that's a large amount of money. And stop blaming the pandemic and shortages this has been going on for the 8 years I have been dealing with them and there was no pandemic then.This business needs a serious overhaul internally and the government should be investigating there business practices. read more

I bought a waterproof foot cover from them to protect my injured toe when taking a shower, when I tried to use it at home with the cover tightened on my foot, it leaks and the water get inside the cover and my injured toe got infected, I went to them the next day trying to get a refund or exchange, they refused to both options I will never shop anything from them in the future, please think twice before you go buy anything from them and be careful read more

I think that Healthcare Solutions on Gateway offers the WORST Service of any business in Edmonton, and that takes a lot. What makes it even worse is we have medical issues that is why we are customers in the first place. There is one woman in that store that store that gives a damn about her job, the rest should be ashamed of accepting their paycheck. I was appalled last Saturday when I went into this business and upon entering put on a waiting list to get any service. The first person that was to "help" me gave me the floor model of a toilet seat, which I hadn't checked very closely as I just wanted to get our of there, got home to discover that it was all banged up so I returned it. The cashier was a "trainee" with no one to help and she was lost, customers were throwing their hands in the air and leaving. I was in there again today and it had not improved I think it had actually worsened. This is a place you don't want to visit and when you do, you don't want to return. But that's the nature of the business. It's health equipment. I'm getting foot surgery at the end of the month so I needed to buy some crutches. Healthcare Solutions is huge. You will probably find what you are looking for in their vast showroom unless it's something that is very unusual. I came on a weekday morning and someone asked me if she could help almost as soon as I entered. I didn't comparison shop but aluminum crutches only cost $39 and that seems cheap to me. There is lots of parking although almost half of it is reserved for people with handicapped tags. I'll hopefully not need to get one of those tags as I may only need these crutches for 3 weeks. So hopefully I'll never have to buy these types of products again but, if I do, this is where I'll go. Getting old isn't fun but it sure beats the alternative. read more

The only reason to give this store one star is the fact that they have lots of handicapped parking. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason to go there again. Everything in the store is available elsewhere. I recently purchased a back support for my elderly mother, and was advised by the SA to ensure that the waist size was correct, since the product was non-returnable. I called and confirmed the waist size, bought the support and delivered it to my mom. On asking her days later how it was working, she stated it was very difficult to put on, and uncomfortable. I once again confirmed her size, and told her to try to keep wearing it, since it probably takes getting used to. Skip ahead to today, when I asked her if her back was any better and if she was still using the support. She said no, brought out the package and pointed out the printing on the package that required a HIP measurement for proper fit. I returned to the store, related the above to the young lady at the customer service desk, and was told that sorry, the best she could do was bring it up with her SA staff to avoid mistakes in the future. So though no fault of my own, I'm out $60, and should take comfort that the staff might know better next time. Well, there will be no next time for me. My advice to you is to stay away, and only shop at a store that takes responsibility for their actions and values their customers. read more

Really rude staff. Would not let me return my compression stockings even though they were not worn. My dr said I had a blood clot in my leg and could not wear the stockings but they said too bad so sad. Do not go here!!!!! Contacted this company in November of 2021 and dealt with Darius and Paul for medical aides in our home including porch lift/chair lift, aides for all our bathrooms and bedrooms including doorways so we could have these supports in place for the elderly. Darius led us to believe for months he and this company could provide us with all the equipment and aides, came out to see us for 2 assessments, gave quotes and seemed like he really cared helping to equip the house. This was not the case as he and this company left us all stranded by not returning any calls/text messages, emails and no response from their store. Paul also does not return any calls, not even to acknowledge our attempts to reach them. If they were professionals and cared about helping people and servicing the health care field, then the least they could do is have some courtesy to respond and say no they can't help us any longer. I would never recommend these people for any type of service and not sure why people like them chose to represent health care. They should be ashamed of their business ethics and actions. read more

Looks like they have a little bit of everything in the store and I was really optimistic that I came to the right place for product and service after talking to someone on the phone and explaining my situation on not knowing if I'd be buying a set of crutches or a cane depending on what the physio advised that day. I was disappointed with how long it took someone to greet me, let alone offer help. When they did attend to me, it seemed like she didn't have knowledge on how best to adjust (granted the test one could have been hard to adjust from over use but definitely not a great selling point for a product) or even properly fit a cane to a person using crutches (good thing the physio told me what to look for). Service went downhill from there as when I asked if they had replacement parts for the crutches I was borrowing (as I would have liked to have given them the option to switch before or after her son needed the crutches) and I got traded to another employee. This lady wanted to check to see if the other replacement line for this style of crutch would work (made sense in that moment) and asked to remove the handle pad to do so. Instead of letting me try to pull it off she disappeared with the part for "help" and actually cut off the handle pad and returned with the new one on. She didn't even tell me that was what she was going to do, so when I asked for it back, that was when I found out that it was in the garbage as she cut it off!!! So I asked if there was a cutting off without asking discount (slightly joking) and I didn't even get so much as an apology for not properly listening to my needs as a customer. Yes, it was closing time and I entered the store 20 min before that but when it took them 10 min to even attend to me in a not busy shop with me obviously searching for a cane to replace my crutch, I don't think that was the issue. Hopefully I don't ever have to return as I'll dread having to enter in that store again and having to do most of the legwork myself (no pun intended). read more

I visited Healthcare Solutions as I had sprained my ankle and was in need of some crutches. They have crutches for rent for $2 per day or $7 per week. I was in a bind on Monday morning so I found this health care business online and decided to stop by first thing on Monday when they opened. However, I was very frustrated with the whole process. I hobbled in and had my partner search for someone to help us. A staff member brought out a few sets of crutches but they were all broken, mismatched, and not the right height. She had to go back several times to find crutches which would at least 10 minutes at a time. I was waiting for 45 minutes for them to find crutches that were in decent condition for a 5'1" person. I was incapable of moving; therefore, I was fortunate enough to have my partner find her in the back to see what was taking so long. After they finally found some crutches, we went to pay which was another multi-step process. Finally, when we were ready to leave, I tried the crutches once again and the handles were not secure. Therefore, once again, the sales lady had to find another set of crutches. In the end, they had to assemble a pair of mismatched crutches and I was out of there in just under an hour. This is quite frustrating as I was late for work and just needed some crutches to provide mobility. When I returned the crutches, I was lucky enough to deal with the same sales lady who took her time with the return procedure for the crutches. I would definitely recommend looking for another location to rent crutches. Otherwise, make sure you allocate ample amount of time to go through a long winded process. read more

I would never shop here again and would recommend avoiding it at all costs! I originally bought an item from the Northgate location for someone else. I was buying it for a family member who was too ill to get it themselves. The size I thought I might need was the floor model of the item but as I was unsure if it would be okay for my ailing mother, so I inquired about their return/exchange policy, which they said was 3 business days. I agreed. On the second business day, I went back to try and exchange the item. They told me it looked "used" (again, it was the *floor model*): I had literally taken it out of the bag, it didn't fit, and so I promptly returned it back to the bag, which stayed in my car until the return. They then mentioned they didn't carry any bigger sizes at their location. They then said they couldn't do a return without a manager (who wasn't there). I told them it was unlikely I could make it back in tomorrow before 5 (when their manager is usually off). I called them the next day and spoke to a woman (I got her name) who said it would be fine if I came in within 5 business days as long as the item was in the condition I purchased it in. I decided to do my return at the South location in hopes that they might have a different size for the exchange. I couldn't get any help and after standing by the customer service desk for 15 minutes, I found a sales associate who was just standing around/making busy work/not helping people (at this point, there was a lineup at the empty customer service desk...), and I described my situation to them, mentioned I just wanted an exchange for a different size, and she said she would have to call the other location. Fair enough. She called them, and I had to wait for them to call her back. When she came back to me, she said the item was past the return date. I told her who I talked to on the phone and that they said it would be fine to come in on the weekend. She said that SA was who she talked to and they said no. I told her I tried to do the return the day after I bought it and she cut me off and said "yes, they told me you used the item and it was dirty". I pointed to the item, which was definitely clean and in the condition I purchased it, and it still had all 3 tags on it, etc. Nothing was cut, broken, removed, etc. I had the receipt. At this point, she essentially called me a liar and asked if I wanted to talk to the Northgate SA myself. I said yes. She called the SA at Northgate and then *wouldn't let me talk to her* even after I asked and wanted to. She then just rudely said "she said no again", and left! I honestly think they were trying to find a schmuck to pawn off their uglier floor model on, and I guess it's easy to take advantage of people who are sick/dying. It bothered me that they wouldn't honor the exchange. I would've been fine with store credit but they were so incredibly rude. I don't know why they would lie to me in the first place: had they said it was all final sale, I would have never made the purchase, but they assured me it would be fine. They were super nice the first time I went in to buy things but then when I needed to return something, they did a total 180 into the worst monsters I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. The interesting thing is I've already spent well over $2000 there, and the item I wanted to exchange was about $70. I would recommend investing your hard-earned cash into a business that cares about their customers. Find a store that has a set policy and won't rely on a sales associate to change their mind about what that policy entails. Go to stores where you are treated like a person rather than a dollar sign, and one where the SA's won't berate you, act condescending, and lie to you all together. read more

Due to Covid-19, I understand the distancing, masks, waiting because I am an essential worker. I was greeted at the front by distancing signs and info.. The lady who greeted me was fine and she had said that she needed to ask all the questions (that is being asked of everyone when you walk into an establishment)..and I had said quickly "no" to the all of the above. Well, she didn't like that! She became stern, asked all the necessary questions; she gave me hand sanitizer, told me to take a pair of gloves ..BUT the kicker ! She TOLD ME TO TAKE MY MASK OFF BECAUSE THEY DON'T ACCEPT PEOPLE WEARING THEIR OWN MASKS in the store and that I had to put it away in my purse! And MADE ME TAKE AND WEAR A DISPOSIBLE one!! I asked what the point was of wearing a mask if she was going to make me take it off and put a disposable one on!!! I was beside myself and shocked! At the end of doing what I needed to do, I saw a gentleman wearing his own mask and pointed it out to the lady who was helping me and told her what had happened when I walked thru the store, she was very apologetic to what happened to me. Healthcare Solutions carries everything. I am in Ontario and had difficulty finding the right scooter for her. Their prices are extremely competitive, and the customer service is excellent. Healthcare Solutions has been my too go to Store for many, many years at old location (51Ave-99St).They have everything you are looking for health/medical care. They have a great selection for every budget. I have always believed in Superior customer service. And after a few issues with Customer Service recently at their new location at 5920 Gateway Blvd I reached out to upper store Management. The response and the treatment I received were exceptional. I would like to Thank You Darren for caring and understanding the obvious discomfort and Pain I was In. Because of the Superior Service I received I decided to go to the new location yesterday November 16, 2017. I would like to give a BIG shout out to Daniel who measured and fitted me with the proper fitting wrist splint. He was very professional, patient and made sure I tried several different types. I did purchase the more expensive one because of Comfort level and ease of putting it on. Also a BIG Shout Out to Cindy She completely went out of her way to help me find specific First Aid items. Treat others how you would like to be treated. I am so glad I put judgement aside before posting a negative experience.
