Anything this pharmacy makes can be purchased over the counter with no prescription. Search online for 'Bioidentical Grass Fed Thyroid' and 'Bioidentical Bi-Est Estrogen'. Health First Pharmacy changed my prescription without my knowledge or consent causing a year of suffering. Then HFP charged my credit card and sent me outdated medication. When I brought this to their attention they never offered to reimburse the several hundred of dollars they charged me for unusable medication. Let's not tip toe around it- you will spend more here than Wal-Mart. You will shop locally. You will buy a quality product and not a cheap ripoff of the actual item you are trying to acquire. I wanted to move all of my Rx's to another pharmacy. I had to give reasons to the receptionist who then had pharmacist call me to go through the reasons after I said I did not want to be contacted. He called again as if recording my answers. Very irritating. Health First Pharmacy made a hormone preparation that did not work. I want to report that after 2 weeks of using the hormone preparation made by Dollar Drug my symptoms have gone away. The preparation made before (Mt. Olympus Compounding Pharmacy) Health First Pharmacy and the one made after (Dollar Drug) Health First Pharmacy have performed very well. I am glad I moved away from this pharmacy. read more

Health First has absolutely saved me now on multiple occasions for the transitions my body is going through in perimenopause. I sought out the Health First store and staff for wrist tendonitis years ago and knew instantly after getting zero input from my medical doctor about perimenopause symptoms, to seek out their staff again as I had had such a successful experience in the past. Two years ago my complex, horrible perimenopause symptoms were resolved with Health First's high quality staff insight and supplements. I bought a product in 2019 and was using it off and on for over a year when I realized that it had expired in April of 2015!! 4 years expired at the time of purchase. When I called with my concern and hope of receiving a new item, I was told that it was not possible for them to have had the expired item on their shelf. Well, they did because I purchased it and they can see that in their files. So to save your money, make sure you check expiration date. I will never give them my business again. I call that poor business and the fact that the owner implied that I was not being truthful is unacceptable. read more

This pharmacy has great products, but horrible customer service. I had lost a baby at 5 months pregnant, and quickly got pregnant again a month later. As a result, I was prescribed a progesterone suppository to prevent another pre-mature birth and loss. I had called in a refill to be picked up the next day. The representative who took my order said it would be ready the next day by noon... which I would pick up on my way out of town (I had to drive from Cloverdale to get my prescription, then make a flight out of SF airport). I called the following morning to verify that my prescription was ready for pick up, and they declared it was. This prescription needed to be taken daily, and as I had a horrific loss, I was very careful not to miss a dosage and was mortified at the prospect. I showed up to the pharmacy at 12:30 pm (on my way to the airport) to pick up my refill. It was not ready as apparently the pharmacist had shown up to work late. They told me that they would not be able to fill my prescription for a few more hours. As I was on my way out of town and needed to make a flight, I was disturbed, yet being in retail before, patient. They offered to ship it to be delivered to my destination a few days later. I asked the cashier if she knew the risks if I missed a dose or two in the meantime. She referred me to the head pharmacist, Mark, I believe. His reaction was horrific. He belittled me, placed blame, and was extremely defensive at the mistake that had been made. 5 months pregnant, after losing a baby 6 months ago, and hugely sensitive to what I was trying to prevent, I was very very emotional yet completely patient and not adversarial at all. He made me cry. I left weeping, without my medication, embarrassed by his reaction, and fearful of what could happen to my baby. They called 30 minutes later telling me my medication was ready. I was well on the road to make my flight. I couldn't answer the phone as I was still quite tearful and upset. My husband took the call, and explained our disappointment. A couple days later, the head pharmacist called me to apologize, and offered free shipping for the remainder of my medication so I wouldn't have to go in there again. While I appreciate that he admitted his mistake and rudeness, I am still very emotionally scarred by this event. He clearly has a very strong personality that doesn't coincide well with customer service or admitting a mistake. I will never go back there again. I am writing this over a year later, as this event is still with me. I do, have a healthy 1 year old boy now who brings me so much happiness! I just never want anyone in my sensitive position to ever go through something like that. read more

Health First Pharmacy is great! My BFF Molly turned me on to this place when I was diagnosed with a pretty serious illness. She went in there to talk to them and stock up on products to help with my treatment. They were so knowledgeable and helpful to her that I decided to go in. I admit I had some trepidation at first because I read some of the negative reviews about a man who works there that can be less than helpful. I have to say I am so thankful I did not let those reviews stop me. These ladies are a gem! Every time I have gone in they have been so helpful, going above and beyond. They will personally call the company if I have questions about ingredients in a product. They offer to do this and never have they made me feel as if they were put out by it. On one visit there was a minor glitch with the credit card system so they mailed me my items, free of charge. First of all, I did not appreciate being invited to an "educational" lecture on hormones for a $15 fee...which I attended and wasted a good two hours listening to a sales pitch for a very expensive and time-consuming diet program involving injections of the pregnancy hormone! No thanks! And don't trick me into paying to hear a sales pitch! That is just dishonest. Secondly, I have been getting my bioidentical hormones from HealthFirst for over a year. My doctor checks my hormone levels regularly. This time, all three hormones were completely out of wack. My testosterone was three times what it should be and as result, my hot flashes made for an uncomfortable summer. My doctor said the pharmacy must have mixed them incorrectly. I talked to HealthFirst's pharmacist and he said there is no possibility that they did anything wrong. He went on to accuse my doctor (who he doesn't even know as she is in San Diego) of being dishonest and wanting me to use the pharmacy which she profits from. I offered to bring in the cream so they could analyze it but he wasn't open to that. He was certain there was no mistake on his part. He blamed the levels on natural physical changes and said the doctor needs to regularly monitor them. My doctor does monitor my hormones regularly! What would cause my body to triple my testosterone? He also refused to give me any refund for the almost $200 worth of cream which I paid for out of pocket as my insurance doesn't cover bioidenticals. I had to get a new cream with another pharmacy (and it was much cheaper) because I can't use the mix from HealthFirst. You have lost a customer, HealthFirst. read more

I can see why people would like this pharmacy. For the most part, they carry products you cant find locally, and they are what appears holistically based with quite a bit of knowledge about going the natural route. They also will refer you to doctors who use them as their main source of compound medications. However, the pharmacist is so rude its astonishing. He is impatient , and condescending if you ask any questions whatsoever . I would suggest going to pharmaca or finding another source. read more

However, as a customer they could care less. The pharmacist, Mark is so condescending and rude. It's unbelievable that he treats paying customers so badly. I can only say that I feel very fortunate to have gone to Health First pharmacy while visiting friends in Santa Rosa. I had a consultation with Mark and an evaluation of my overall health based upon a questionnaire I completed. Without knowing very much about me, Mark's analysis of the results were addressing many of the day to day health issues I experience. His explanation of what parts of my nutrition and body chemistry contributed to these issues was so knowledgeable and understandable that I realized my attempts to eat "healthy" following generally accepted medical guidelines, weren't necessarily right for me. In fact, in some cases, I was getting opposite results. Mark then gave me his insight and recommendations to improve my health. I'm now on a slightly different regimen to get my nutritional and health needs better meet. My digestive issues were immediately and significantly improved. My energy level seems normal for the first time in my recent memory. While I can't understate how happy I am with these results, something more incredible is also being addressed. For most of my adult life I have been treated for depression with virtually every medication modern medicine prescribes. The results have always been marginal and after I had been given some standard tests to seek its cause with no cause determined, my prescriptions were geared to treat the symptoms, not the cause. Mark recognized something my past doctors didn't, or wouldn't test for, that could pinpoint the cause. Because my current insurance places restrictions on how complete labs can analyze tests, I am sending my blood and saliva to an independent lab when I return from my vacation. If the results support Mark's suspicions, I have real treatment options. I've not been optimistic about new depression treatments for a long time, but I have a good feeling about this. I was treated extremely well by all the pharmacy's staff while I was being served. People might mistake Mark's passion and conviction for something else. Clearly, you can't please everyone and some personalities clash with others. While I had no issues, the totality of my experience was so positive that I believe anyone who is reluctant to patronize Health First Pharmacy because of bad reviews about the way someone else feels they were greeted or talked to, you would be doing yourself a great disservice. read more

Wow. I went in here to purchase aspirin for my headache and the kind lady at the counter recommended some homeopathic cream instead of Advil. Not only did she have a sample out so I could try it she instructed me on how and where to use it. And when The time came to ring me up she didn't try to push it on me at all. I ended up buying it and later that day my headache turned into a migraine. I took a Vicodin and still had the pain a few hours later. applied the cream to my temples and neck and within 30 minutes I noticed relief. This was not my first visit and it will definitely not be my last. Great place to go for local advice!!! And they helped me from sitting in a dark room for 2 days with a migraine... I bought a progeste cream from Health First Pharmacy last week. This was the third one I bought from there and after a follow up visit with my doctor she informed me to no longer use it. So, I called in to find out what their refund/exchange policy was for unopened products. Mark informed me to look at my receipt they may or may not take it back. Ok... Then he proceeded to ask me why my doctor told me to no longer use it. Really!? Not really his business. After I simply said she said I no longer needed it he asked me "Do you not have a uterus anymore?" He is completely rude and out of line! I will never shop here again!!! read more

I have bought items here when I don't have the time to order online. Their items are way more expensive than iherb or other online sources. The main reason I am very leery of this business is that I was overhearing the male pharmacist talking to an older menopausal woman who was saying she felt horrible, had hot flashes, memory problems etc, and he began recommending progesterone to her saying that the problem was low progesterone. I was aghast because she would have to get her blood hormone levels checked for him to even know that! When he was done telling her what [expensive] things to buy I went over to her and handed her my note of a book to read 'Screaming To Be Heard' by Dr Elizabeth Vliet who so correctly points out that a woman usually felt most horrible right before her period began when her progesterone levels were highest and estrogen levels lowest. Women usually get relief upon finally beginning to bleed and the estrogen levels building again. Dr Vliet states in her book that she finds a lot of doctors get this wrong and boy do I agree with her!!! I knew that it was no use talking to him because I had already tried asking about their compounded bio-identical hormone pricing [super higher than anywhere else!] and he tried to tell me the same garbage too. Since I had already read Dr Vliet's book, as well as many others, I knew that a woman simply must get her hormone levels checked and that it's the minority of women who are in need of progesterone. I do believe that if you can google information on what it is you need info on that you would be better off than asking them for their opinion at Health First. read more
