I have been visiting Health Day Spa usually once a week for about five years. My go to person lately is Susan. She provides exactly the massage I request. Swedish massage, medium, not too hard. Most massage spas offer soft, medium, or hard pressures. I prefer soft to medium. That's exactly what I ask with Susan and that is what I receive. If you want a hard deep tissue massage, I'd recommend Carmen. She's very experienced and knows exactly where your pain or discomfort is, and believe me, she will definitely get your pain out. Depending on your pain, depends on how much pressure Carmen will put on you. Two different times, Jenny (the owner) performed Thai massages on me. She does not offer that massage. She only performed Thai massage because I have been going there for years. Omg, that was so painful. However, when I walked out, my body was like jello. At that time, I didn't live far away. I was able to drive home and fell right to sleep, waking up totally refreshed. Today, Susan worked on me. I always get a 90 minute massage, which costs $98, plus I give 25 to $30 tip. That's just me. My tip is giving extra thanks. Today, though, I caught myself snoring twice. I love Health Day Spa. It's dark, always quiet unless a guest is talking loud. There's soft relaxing music playing. As I have mentioned before, everyone that works there does not speak English well. I suggest you speak slowly and clearly, or use your Google translator, as I do. I am always on my feet and I been complaining that my feet has been hurting to my husband. So on our anniversary, he took me here. No reservation needed. They welcome walk in. It's a chill place. I did the 60 min foot reflexology and acupressure for $55. The acupressure consist of shoulder massage and arm massage. Foot includes thigh to foot. It was great!! It hurt so good. Lol. My feet felt happy and refresh. The guy that did my massage did an amazing job. He didn't introduce himself so I didn't get his name. Barely talk and just did what he needed to do. Just had another massage at Health Day Spa I always ask for Sean -- he's seriously amazing and very professional! What I love is that he doesn't just press where it hurts. He uses traditional Chinese acupressure points to treat the pain in a totally different way. Today my left shoulder was really hurting. Instead of working directly on it, he pressed a point on my pinky toe and behind my knee... and somehow when he came back to my shoulder, the pain was already noticeably better Same thing with my back -- he worked on my palm first, then went back to my back and it felt so much better right away. Honestly, it feels kind of magical... almost faster than taking painkillers (not even kidding ) A lot of places just press where it hurts, but this is a whole different level. If you have shoulder, neck, or back pain, I highly recommend trying Sean! Also, if anyone in this group happens to know the owner, I'd really appreciate if you could kindly pass along some feedback -- the sound insulation isn't great, and sometimes there are loud conversations happening outside that aren't related to customers or appointments. I was gifted a $50 gift card & would never have tried this place if it wasn't for that. I made an appointment & when I arrived they didn't seem like they took my appt. seriously hence giving me the idea that it's more of a walk in type of establishment. This stance can be good & bad. Good if you just want to drop in, bad if your time is limited. Regardless of this, my 60 minute massage was amazing! I was lucky enough to get Susan as my masseuse. She was able to target my tight shoulder & calf muscles without making me feel beat up afterwards. The only downside is she speaks Mandarin, so there can be a slight language barrier. She does ask you if the pressure is ok, by saying "is it ok?" Today was my 2nd visit & I knew I could call to ask for Susan & have an appt.asap & sure enough the receptionist asked if I could come right away. I went & was immediately taken to a room. I inquired about promotions & they said if you pay up front (Cash or else $3 credit card service fee) for 10 services of 1 specific thing then you get 1 hour free. So I go for the foot massage every time. You sit in a comfy recliner chair with pillows and a blanket. First they soak your feet. Then they do massage of your legs and feet. It feels so good. Then at the end they give you a back, shoulder and neck massage. For one hour it's $55. I like the people who work there. Was recommended by my nail tech who comes here and refers her clients to come see a particular masseus especially when they're dealing with sciatica, which I've had for a couple months now. Called to see if he was available and they said he was at the moment and I said could arrive within 2 mins since I was across the street. As soon as I walked in and said I called requesting the specific masseus, they told me he was booked with a client right now and to try someone else. Fine, I obliged since I needed to get massaged. A woman masseus (or so I thought she was) instructed me to get undressed. Did that, laid face down on the table in the room, the masseus came in, no words spoken and started working on me. Immediately the kneading was too rough for my petite, fragile body. I asked the masseus to go softer since I don't like deep tissue and have never received one. He laughed and said "softer"? Surprised for a male masseus to perform the service, I told him that it hurts and to go softer and lighter. I guess he didn't know what that meant since he didn't speak any bit of English nor seem to understand what I said as much as I tried to put it in basic language. Within the next few minutes, I started having an internal dilemma of either letting him continue to perform the unwanted deep tissue massage (which I didn't specify or ever ask to get anywhere) or call it quits and just pay for the hour. This continued for the entire hour since I was battling with "no pain, no gain" and "it shouldn't hurt this bad" to the point where I'm saying "ouch!" which didn't deter him from using so much pressure. I seriously thought he was going to break my ribs from the back! When he was near the end of the session, he brought in a towel to wipe down the oil and was so rough scrubbing me like I was getting sanded down. As soon as I got home to change my clothes, I horrified by all the bruising on my back! Never have I been bruised by a massage. Guess I'll never come back here unless it's with a woman masseus who speaks and understands English, and can accommodate to my massage preference. read more

My husband had Bill, and I had Lisa, and they were both excellent. I was a massage therapist many years ago, trained in acupuncture and Tui Na massage modalities, and so I have a really high bar of what I think is a good massage... this was great! We both got 90 minutes hot stone massages, and I was impressed by the flow and efficacy of the massage. First section was facedown, massage over the sheets, getting to know the tight spots and working through all the meridians on the back of the body. Next was hot stones and oil massage starting with the back - the stones were used so well, and they replaced with fresh hot stones twice. Final portion of the massage was face up, with some great work on neck, scalp, upper chest and shoulders. read more

3.5 stars. They take in walk ins, I was able to call about an hour prior to see if they have any availability. I did the 100 min special for $95, which includes a 40 min foot massage and 60 min body. I had a male masseuse who took care of both of my massages. I needed a foot massage after being on my feet all week at work. He was able to relieve my pain however he was was wearing gloves so the sensation felt a bit strange and he also used his nails which felt especially painful. Upon entering the massage room, I noticed a peep hole window which was very strange to me. I made sure to undress away from view of the window, however my masseuse knocked on the door and was in view of the window not even 3 minutes later. I felt super uncomfortable because I was about to lay on the massage table. The body massage was okay, he was too rough so I had to ask multiple times for a lighter pressure. I received the best foot massage. I've been suffering from heel pain on one foot for 2 months. It may be plantar fasciitis, and I was limping. I got a massage and it decreased my pain. I think if I go two more times I'll be even better. I did 1 hour foot massage. They put your feet in hot water, then they put cream and massage both feet and calves. Then you get a neck and shoulder massage too. I recommend to pay cash to save money, but they do take card for a fee. read more

I originally setup a one hour massage but then decided to get the 90 minute massage. I have a very physical job and I'm older in age. I went there and gave a 15.00 tip prior to the service. The woman forgot to massage my right side of arm, forearm, wrist and hand. She had me flip over and I mentioned that she forgot the right side. There was a language barrier here. I had trouble breathing because the face disposable barrier wasn't adequately opened for me to breathe. I kept trying to bite through the barrier so that I could breathe through the elbow going down my back. She kept digging in with her elbows and in the past I've breathed through the process but I could not breathe. It was torture. I went there to free up my tensions and muscle tensions so I could feel better at work. She ended up doing the opposite to me. I had an old lower back injury and now in between my shoulder blades and lower back I'm in constant pain. When we were done I was out of it. The guy at the desk asked me if I could give her more of a tip. I agreed and gave her 20.00 total in tip but again, I was out of it. Two weeks later I'm icing my back, using electrodes and I've gone to two different acupuncturists and I'm still in pain. I went there a month ago for a one hour massage and that was good. But now. Last night, I had a massage with a male therapist named Song. From the start, I told him I needed a soft to moderate massage only because I can't handle a hard massage. What he did was give me a very hard massage, which is why I'm not feeling well today. I stopped him and told him again to give me a soft massage only. I also requested a Swedish massage, of course with oil. However, he proceeded with a deep tissue massage without oil, which I do not like. My husband and I were just at Health Day Spa this morning for an hour massage and left feeling relaxed and tension-free throughout the whole day. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. In the beginning, my husband was a bit sketch about the whole thing but once we got undressed and the staff began with the massage, the relaxation began. This place is a nightmare. I spoke to them several times over the phone about bringing my wife in who had a C-section a couple weeks before (after getting it cleared by her doctor). The reason I called several times was to ensure that they understood that she had recent surgery and could probably all do parts of a massage comfortably. For example, if she's not comfortable laying on her tummy, then to just let her lay on her back, or if she's not comfortable doing her back, just massage her legs and shoulders. If she's not comfortable laying down, just put her in a chair, every time I called, they said that they understood and that they would take care of everything. Fast-forward to today, they man-handled her, had no idea that she had surgery, didn't understand when she explained that she had had surgery and overall just treated her like a piece of trash off the street. read more

I went in on a whim, and I got Carmen the first time she was incredible. She is very thorough and her massage and I couldn't have been more grateful for all the time and effort she put into massaging me! She is strong and knows how to do deep tissue. Carmen is wonderful! The second time I went in there late and I got Jenny. Jenny is probably one of my new favorite people in the whole world. There are people who have a natural ability to care about others. Jenny & Carmen have that factor. The massage continue to get better and better every minute. Jenny cared about my problem areas as I am in a lot of chronic pain. She is incredibly strong. I was trying to explain that I wanted to do the 90 min massage instead she pushed me in and kept saying " I know I know". Anyway she didn't know because when it was time to pay she said I asked for the 90.00 massage. Irratated I paid , because the massage said 60 mins and I KNOW she didn't give me a 60 min body massage. Over all terrible experience, my body was in pain and I told her to adjust her pressure so many times! And she didn't, she kept saying "pain? Pain?". And kept going. Originally planned to go to a place closer to my location in San Leandro, upon initially arriving to that place i was treated extremely rude. I decided to continue to search for another location even if it meant having to go a couple more miles away. I called before hand to confirm the pricing as well as availability for a foot massage, when Jenny answered the phone she was extremely pleasant! She told me they were available right away. I love this place. If you're looking for a "spa-like experience", this isn't it. But if you're looking for quality masseuses, who will give firm to almost-painful pressure, and leave you feeling like jello by the time it's over, then this is the place for you. It's not "fancy" but it's affordable, clean, and consistent. Regardless of which masseuse I get, I always get firm to almost-painful pressure. I once heard that if you're getting a massage done correctly, it's actually supposed to hurt and you'll be sore a few days after. Yup, I love that feeling that I get here when I'm sore for several days after, and I can feel the phantom hands on the sore spots on my body. It definitely feels like money well spent. No muscle or cell can escape without being touched, rubbed, rolled and pressed. I hate when I pay for a massage (at other places) and it feels like a young child is just feeling all over my body. This place is the bomb. If you like it firm, don't let the looks fool you. The skinny uncle and the older auntie will work over your body harder than a muscular body builder. I love when they make a fist and roll it along the bottom of my foot and along the arch. Definitely feels like heaven to someone like me who has struggled with plantar fasciitis, sprained ankles, swollen ankles, and ankle surgery. Coming here for years and brought so many friends here as well but it just kept getting worse. Last 3 times massage got cut short and always excuses with being tired and all. We finally got frustrated and not relaxed and left and got our money back. Don't buy the 10 package. It's a trap. They just start doing bad massages and hurting you in the bone. They actually broke someone's spine today. No technique. I prepaid for 10 thinking I was gonna get good massage and ended up getting few bad ones instead. Jenny used to be very good but now she doesn't do good job anymore. Just excuses of being tired before even starting. Then don't take appointment. For a good quality foot massage, come here! It's affordable, the service is nice and respectful. Things to note: The location is in a busy shopping strip and the door is typically open. Expect to hear noise from the street, people walking past the business and cars honking in the parking lot. You'll also hear people walk in and ask questions. This isn't a fancy place so just set your expectations appropriately! 60 minute foot massage is $45. That's a good deal IMO. Don't be cheap -- make sure you tip! The foot massage area is right off the front area of the business and has chairs lined up next to each other. This review is way overdue! I've been coming here since August of 2023, and I've been coming back regularly since then. I come here in hopes to alleviate my low back pain and, sometimes, shoulder pain. My usual go-to masseuse is Judy. She amazed me during my first massage as she was able to tell me what part of my body was in pain during the first few minute...even though I didn't tell her where it was. She's been consistently great with every session I've had. The one time today that Judy was not available, Carmen (or Cahmen?) took me in. At first, I was hesitant to switch to a different masseuse because I've always been used to Judy's massage skill, but Carmen impressed me as well! She was able to tell me too where my pains were without me telling her...and she paid extra attention to those problem areas. I'll be more than happy to seek her service again. The massages in this place are mostly deep tissue, which can be painful...but I don't mind it as it seems to really help alleviate my pains after each session. I was having back pain with a pinched nerve between my spine and left shoulder blade so I decided to try this place. I got the $60 70 minute treatment (40 min foot/30 full body acupressure). It was my first time trying acupressure and while it hurt, it helped loosen my muscles and tension. The therapist was able to target areas of discomfort and checked in about pressure. I think he was pushing pretty hard bc I heard his feet slipping as he was digging his elbow into my back, but it helped. I felt so good that I went bowling and scored an high score of 97 (Joking; I think the soreness messed up my game).. Try this place out and communicate with your therapist if the pressure it too much. To me, acupressure is like acupuncture without the puncture and pressure on pressure points. read more
