Since I'm a music lover, CW isn't my first choice because it's too expensive for a hit or miss short set. I prefer Center Stage, Roxy, Fox, Smith's Olde Bar etc. for at least a two-hour concert. But for my favorite artists who don't perform anywhere else, I'll occasionally splurge. I'll likely eat elsewhere and leave the servers a small gratuity.

I'm a bit preppy and I stick out like a sore thumb here. Most people are tattooed, wearing black, and approaching their AARP card. It's just a lovely subculture, and the bands they book bring it! You might be turned off by the cover, but it's worth it. More times than not, I'm watching someone punk out on stage in their 60s. The drinks are plain but the service is top notch. Mae and Hillary won't let you go thirsty. Let your eye wander and you might see a drag pig or stumble into the Elvis shrine. Bottom line -- if you're down for a little weird and like the punk scene, this is your go-to. We love you, Star Bar!

Restrooms were clean. The only issue is there seemed to be no accommodations at all for people with disabilities. I was there with my kid who has had 11 surgeries on his legs in the last 14 years. There is no way for anyone to sit down and see the state which is a real and literal pain for my kid. I asked one man who was working there if there was an elevator available and informed him that my kid had disabilities (we've got the tag in the car and everything). He gave me an annoyed look and said no. Later I found out that the man was letting people with canes out a different set of doors. If only I had known that we had to flag our disabilities to gain access to ADA accommodation... Yes, my kid has a cane but he doesn't always use it because he doesn't always need it.

I'd definitely see another show here. I think this type of venue is best for a certain type of show--for more active shows where one might want to dance or otherwise engage a venue like The Eastern is more fitting, but for a show where you're more of a spectator absorbing the music being played this one works very well.
