Mark is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate in what he does. You do have to make a reservation ahead of time though for tastings. But it's definitely worth it! That one-on-one attention and interaction is priceless. The barrel room in the back was so cool. I love all the cute chalk drawings on the barrels. Mark walked us through the process of wine making and we even got the chance to try some from the barrel! Mark's co-owner, his brother James, lives in Denver-just a short drive from Colorado Springs, where I live! Honestly, I don't remember which wines I liked best because I liked all of them. But we ended up getting a bottle and have been saving it for a special occasion until we get the chance to go back. Definitely looking forward to returning soon!

Mark greeted us by the door of the tasting room/production facility which is just off the square. He spent time walking through the winery's history and how he and is brother run the business. By the end of the tasting we had talked about wine, food, music, documentaries, and much more. Mark made it feel like we were all siting around the kitchen table just talking about wine and life. I liked this setting (one group at a time with 100% participation) much more enjoyable than most other wineries we visited which have more of a bar/restaurant feeling where the server would just pour your tasting, give you the one sentence blurb they learned about it and then disappearing to help other tables for 10-15 minutes until it was time for your next pour. We started the tasting with their "White Wine" and Viognier. We then moved on to the reds including Pinot, Zin, Merlot, Malbec and Cab. They were all very well made and quite tasty. Ended up purchasing 3 bottles to go and a membership to be shipped later in the year. I'd definitely recommend others putting Blanchard on their list of places to visit in Healdsburg. Appointments are needed as Mark only does one group's tasting at a time.

***3.5 Stars***…read more Beautiful grounds with a gorgeous tasting room! Medlock Ames definitely impresses when it comes to their estate. Their tasting room is located right in the heart of Alexander Valley and is surrounded by lush and vibrant gardens. They have an adorable patio space with great views of both their gardens and vineyards. Their indoor tasting room is so hip and chic. It features a center tasting bar that is surrounded by beautiful artwork and a backwall that showcases their wine cellar. My friend and I came here for a tasting and we had a very pleasant time. Laura was our host and she was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines that she poured. She told us about the history of the winery and how it began. It was neat to learn that Medlock Ames was started by two college buddies while they went to school in NYC. Most of their grapes from their wines are sourced from their own vineyards in Bell Mountain. The majority of the wines that are produced here are small lot and limited production. Tastings are $45 and available by reservation only. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere here, I wasn't blown away by any of their wines. My friend is a big fan of their sauvignon blanc and I'll admit that it's tasty and probably their signature wine. It was odd that it wasn't featured on their tasting list, but Laura was nice enough to pour it for us anyways. I'm not usually a fan of merlot, but I actually enjoyed their Jefferson Clone Merlot the best out of all the wines that we tried. I just felt that wines were overpriced for the quality, but it could have just been that my palate didn't align with these particular wines. Despite this, I would still come back again to try more of their wines. Hopefully, I'll find something that I truly like here in the future.

She poured us a glass rose and was chatting with us for a little. The atmosphere and hospitality were great. We sat outside underneath the grapevines. It was a great way to end the day.

She also brought out a plate of locally crafted pastries for us to pair with our wine. The wine itself was very tasty and smooth, we bought a couple of bottles to share in Downtown Healdsburg afterwards so we could continue enjoying it. The winery itself is very beautiful and has a stunning view overlooking Dry Creek Valley. They had ambient live music with a tongue drum that added to the atmosphere. I made reservations for two adults and two young teenagers on a Tuesday morning and were the first guests to arrive that day. We were greeted with a welcome glass and were told they were setting up our table. That gave us enough time to do a couple of selfies and within minutes, we were escorted inside. Season Leef was our host/wine ambassador that morning and we loved her energy, attention to detail and how she treated us like we were members of the MacRostie Winery/family. She was more about understanding our palettes and pouring us what we gravitated towards to showcase the vast portfolio Heidi (winemaker) has been able to produce. Usually not a fan of Chardonnays but it was a neat experience tasting different variables and how each one is slightly different. We know we like Pinot Noirs so when we started diving into the reds, thats when we started figuring out what we liked. Ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2022 Nightwing Vineyard 828 Clone Pinot Noir :chefkiss: My two young teens are used to being at wineries with us so they're pretty good about keeping themselves occupied on their own (even with out devices). But, I really appreciated that Season brought over some paper and a pack of markers for them since they both still like to draw. Plus, we had a couple of good sessions of tic tac toe while we sipped and took our time. We had a great experience here thanks to Season! Seeing that they're dog friendly, we'll bring our 4 legged family member next time.

The drive was pleasant and beautiful, and it was a good day to be out. As we approached Le Crema, we were romanced by the surrounding countryside. As we got inside, we walked up to the tasting room and then took our wine and went outside and enjoyed the view and the tasting. It was so wonderful. I wound up buying a couple bottles to take home with me and so did my daughter. A pallet is a very strange thing to explain to people because my taste and what I think about that wines flavors and nuances it really varies from person to person. But I was so impressed with this lovely product. If I wasn't there, wouldn't be those two bottles in my car. I recommend this winery and the people that work there were very, very nice and hospitable. The drive was exceptional. Beautiful.

When we arrived I was amazed at how beautiful the estate is and the vineyards are well kept and breathtaking. We were each giving a glass of the Pinot Noir Rose which was absolutely refreshing and delicious this was actually my favorite wine. We had wine tasting of both Red and White wines. I am more of a Pinot Noir drinker than Chardonnay. Every tasting we had was really good, but no of them topped that fantastic Rose. Ursula, I believe was her name was our wine host is she was amazing and explained the different wines and the vineyards and where their grapes are grown. After out tasting we had a really nice picnic outside and enjoyed each others company. I would definitely come back without a doubt.

We came towards the end of the day a little after 5pm so unfortunately, we couldn't have a tasting which was a bummer. We did have one glass of their sparkling Moscato, which was good. I was looking for somewhere we could do a little wine tasting even though we had my young daughter with us. It's a woman owned place with a female winemaker, which I thought was awesome! It wasn't very busy luckily when we showed up, since we didn't have a reservation. We were greeted warmly anyway and seated on the patio. We did the classic flight at the suggestion of the sommelier since it's our first time. We tried ordering a charcuterie plate but they were out, which would have been fine, but they graciously offered to make a little cheese and jam plate with crackers on the house. It was really sweet. They also had Gluten free crackers which was great because my MIL has celiac. While all the wines were good, my favorite was the second one we tried, the blanc de noirs. A couple of use ordered glasses of Moscato after the tasting. The moscato was interesting, in a good way, but it was definitely different, not as sweet as most moscatos and a little musky. My mother in law joined the wine club, so the tasting was free. Overall it was a great experience and we hope to be back.
