The Department of Fish and Game provided free rental poles, bait (worms and power bait), a link to hold the fish, then bagged and iced the fish to go when guests were done. The was a 3 fish limit per child and the ponds were so stocked the kids caught their limit within an hour. Growing up in a family that loves to fish, I appreciated this event as it gave the kids the opporunity to really learn how to fish on their own and they didn't have to wait too long before catching their first fish. Also, there were plenty of volunteers available to help bring fish in with nets and remove hooks that were tough to remove. The rules are clear, fishing is for the kids, no catch and release, you must take what you catch and there is a 3 fish limit. We saw fish of all sizes caught and were happy with what we got. The Mount Shasta Hatchery is also a great place for kids to learn about the fish life cycle, see them at different stages of life and feed the fish. Next time we visit, we hope to check out the museum. One thing to note is it is a very far walk in from the entrance to the ponds so get their early or be prepared to walk really far.

I just needed the fluid lift it up where the hole is and I could've done the rest when I was done. I need to wash my hands. I asked about the restaurant. Nope he said go next-door someone else said so I went next-door to Rays Hardware Store, noted a few items I could use at home in in Carson City but needed to wash my hands.... I have a young woman at the counter in the back of the store about a public restroom. She looked me up and down and told me no to either go to the grocery store or to Subway. everybody knows subway doesn't have a public bathroom, so I simply turned around and Left. I by no means look homeless, I was prepared to purchase items. I turned around and went to Valero. There I was greeted by a friendly cashier, washed my hands bought some snacks and lottery... I've been coming to this area for 50 years..it is no longer a welcoming, friendly place. The people I encountered at oreillys were rude, the girl at Rays shouldn't work with the public. I was happy to head back to Nevada.. so sad not to have lunch at Black Bear and head to the park to drink the water from the mountain. This use to be a welcoming place...not anymore...

I waited until she was done with her previous customer and asked when Mt Shasta would be open. She must be lonely because she talked my ear off. She finally stopped talking long enough got me to ask about the waterfalls. I told her that I recalled driving to the south end of town and turning east. She kept asking obfuscating questions. Finally I opened a map. Looked south then east and found them myself. Fowler's. I clarified by asking if this is the place with three well developed parking lots. She said they're not developed. From my previous visit, I know that they are paved. Then she fretted because she had given one of these cheap paper $3 maps to the last guy and didn't ask for money. Not sure I'm pairing an accurate enough picture of her but she was weird and unhelpful. The center itself is a standard visitor's center with lots of commercial pamphlets. Middle aged woman working there was very gabby. Perhaps the same woman as a two star google rating I saw. As another person noted, google and Yelp are more helpful.

Renee's guidance has helped me stay connected to the golden thread trust and belief in what felt impossible at times, but that in reality makes my life truly worth living. Renee is deeply wise. She is incredibly insightful and supportive in a deeply genuine way that hugely impacts my life. She's helped me navigate health challenges (wow, her intuition is powerful! She can tell what foods I am reacting to and need to eliminate), money challenges -- letting me know to keep going even when the math doesn't seem to add up, how to be an empathic person with healthy boundaries as I heal and become more sensitive, and additionally very specific business decisions that she is able to guide via deep connection to wisdom. We happened to park right in front of the store and as we walked back to the car to leave town, I noticed the crystal store. So I told my husband to give me 2 minutes just to check it out. 30 minutes later ... I have been working with and collecting crystals this last year, I am also a buyer and retailing them, and this crystal store is unlike any others . Each stone were radiated it own energy and you can feel how much love and energy that the owners put in them. I had told my girlfriend I want to have a store just like this or a house that I can have all of them In it .... this place not only is an inspiration for my soul journey but also taught me so much about open heart. Wendy, I know I expressed my gratitude to you but I also want to put it in here to say it one more time how blessed I am have met such a beautiful soul such as yours. While the route…read moredescription is very straightfoward online, it has a lot of potential to be overlooked by heart. I rated 4 stars because this is definitely a passion project and you really have to be on your A-game if you book with these guides. The guides are professionals and they expect you to be just as prepared as they are -- especially on a physical level. If you can't stay on their pace due to timing, expect not to summit. I cannot emphasize this enough. DO NOT TAKE THE TRAINING EXPECTATIONS LIGHTLY. Coming from someone who did not train as vigorously as I had originally planned, I did not make it very far on my own accord. Secondly, make sure you are aware of every element of the trip. I booked for the summer and expected there to be snow. Snow = cold, but I did not brace myself for the extreme heat conditions at the base of the mountain and start of the ascent. We had a late start at around 11 AM, so you will not be starting early if that's what your expectations were. Most people I talked to in the lot started at 1:30 AM to beat the heat. Drink the required amount of water before your trip so you stay hydrated. If you feel thirsty at the start, you're already behind on hydration. While I did not summit, I have been inspired to definitely try this again when I'm more prepared. Thank you to my guides! You guys were amazing!

Now I understand that in mountaineering weather plays a deciding role in if a summit is reached or not, but it seems to me like reaching the summit is NOT a priority at ALL. I mean ZERO priority. On this second trip, I was also told by one of the guides that my "footwork" was not good enough (whatever that means), so I was forbidden to head up towards the red banks. Meanwhile, I was in lockstep with the rest of my crew, and was not complaining, for a major blister I had on my heal. After having spent $3,000+ for the guides, (not to mention all other associated costs) they served ramen noodles with frozen meatballs in a cup. (Not a plate, meaning portions were tiny). Personally, I find their guidance underwhelming, and for someone to decide whether or not I can climb is preposterous. I do not recommend this company.
