I discovered this salon through Yelp about a year ago and took the chance of coming here based on my fellow Yelper's reviews and plus their 50% off discount for first timers. I'm so glad I made that decision. After going to the same salon for most of my life, I decided to take the risk and opt for a change. I had my hair dyed elsewhere which turned into a brassy color and needed a revival of color and cut. I made an appointment with Danielle to fix my color and get a trim. She was so nice and friendly and she did a great job on saving my hair. I actually received so many compliments at work that people were asking where I had my hair done. After raving about Danielle and the services here, 1 of my other coworkers came to get her hair done by her. Now we always come to see Danielle. More recently I went back to get another color change. I believe Dana is fairly new to this salon, but seems to have LOTS of great experience as she did a fantastic job on both the color and cut, offered a lot of helpful advice on how to care for my hair at home and kept up great conversation the whole time. I even got a little goody bag when I left! Pricing is in line with other salons in the area and the location is convenient to my home and there is plenty of parking in the metered lot across the street (also metered street spots, but the lot is easier). I came here a few months ago with a Groupon to get my hair cut and have a Moroccan oil treatment done. Why it took me so long to write this review, I have no idea, because the service was great! Unfortunately I can no longer remember my stylist's name but she was very professional and cut my hair exactly how I asked (I also showed her a few pictures for reference). The treatment left my hair feeling nice and soft but I'm not sure it was special enough to pay for it sans Groupon. I'm always a little apprehensive trying a new place with a Groupon, especially when there are scissors involved. I purchased a Groupon for $45 and got a haircut, style, single process and full highlights which was really worth it for the hour drive it took me to get there. Samantha did my hair and she was great. She was friendly and helpful. The highlights came out nice but not really the color I wanted. The picture I showed had more of a red tone than honey tone. I only got a trim so can't really comment on the haircut. The only thing I was not impressed about was the lady who washed my hair. I've gotten great hair washes in the past so I have pretty high standards (if you've ever been to the Chinatown hair salons, you'd understand). But I wasn't expecting much since I saw how she washed the other customers in the salon's hair and I was there to get my hair done, not to get my hair washed. The PROBLEM was that she got water in my ears, eyes and splashed a good amount on my face. Also, she wet my whole forehead, which I don't recall anywhere else doing that. read more

Very disappointed with their poor management , age discrimination , and disrespect of people's time . They put another customer in front of my daughter's ( 5 year old ) appointment, we arrived less than 8 minutes late , and I was told that we are late that's why she already working on another customer's hair . ( it was a messy rainy morning ) no consideration what so ever . Then the stylist we booked with said that she is dying another customer 's hair and she offered us either to wait 20-25 minutes or come back later in the day !! I went to Headlines to get my hair done for a wedding in the area. It was recommended by a friend whom I trust and who travels far to continue to go there, even after moving to NJ. So I got a groupon to go to this place ($45 dollar for cut , single processing and full highlights) and I definitely would go again. It's a little far from me (25 min) but i was worth it. When I got in the salon at 10am (I had an appointment at that time), I was sitted directly and the stylist started to ask me what I wanted. She understood really quickly and started with the highlights. Marissa was really nice and very professional. the highlights are great and I just love the haircut. She made sure to follow my instructions and was always willing to make the changes I asked her to make. She also had great suggestions (about the color and the cut). I went here yesterday because of a groupon. $39 for a cut color and blow out. I'll be honest my expectations were low because of how cheap the deal was and I wasn't to impressed with the way the salon looked from the street but let me tell you I was wrong. The inside was small but very cute and the staff was extremely friendly. Catara did my hair and I was blown away!! The color is perfect and the cut is amazing!! My hair is soft and shiny again! I live in center city and in the past I have spent hundreds on my hair and was never truly happy with it but for a great price and amazing service this is the place to go! I used to go to Headlines in High School and College but really wouldnt go back. They do not take credit cards which is so annoying I always had to bring a check to pay. They often gossip about clients and employees which is typical of a salon but this was a little too far. The prices varied so it always seemed to be a surprise thus the reason for a check. I have been back every month since November 2011 for cut, color, highlights and am always thrilled when I leave. Catara is a great stylist and knows how to to make my hair look great! She taught me how to do my hair exactly as it looks when I walk out of the salon. The salon staff are very friendly and I love the shop where you feel like a person and not just another "sale." Horrible customer service. I booked a hair appointment for my girlfriend on Saturday. She needed a cut, style, and hair color. I told them we couldn't do anything before 5:30 as she has to work. They informed me there wouldn't be enough time for all of that since they close at 7:30pm. I asked what about just a color then? They informed me they could do the color and it would take a couple hours. I told them we would be coming from Philly and we would make it as close to 5:30 as possible. They told me ok and booked the appointment. The day of the appointment, Tuesday the 20th, I get a call telling me the stylist made a mistake and that they would not have enough time to do the color, cut, and style. I informed them all we wanted was the color. Even with it just being the color, they would not have enough time. They gave me ONE alternative of Thursday at 1pm. They did not apologize. Even when I spoke to the owner, Joe, he wasn't apologetic. It was all matter of fact they couldn't do it. You would think you guys would want to encourage new customers to come in but instead discourage them through horrible customer service. If your stylist made a mistake, and the hair color process doesn't get done right before closing time, stay late. It's not our fault you guys book incorrectly. You should do what's right to rectify the situation. Hopefully anyone that wants to book your salon reads this beforehand. You shouldn't treat customers this way and cancel them at the last minute! read more

I have been going to Headlines for the past 2-3 years. I absolutely love it there! Marisa always does a fantastic job on my cut and color. She also does updos and make-up for weddings/events!! My husband now gets his hair cut there too and he says they do great mens cuts as well. Recently I've been bringing my 3 kids in to get theirs done. Some salons make you feel bad for bringing kids in but not Headlines. The girls are all very friendly, helpful and great with my kids. They really make the whole experience more relaxing. This place is great! I get the best color at this salon. Switched to here from a pricey Salon off of the Pike. The sylists have one goal---make you look fabulous. Even though I only go here for color; I have seen gorgeous highlights, blow outs and cuts on other patrons each time I go. Samantha rocks! She actually listens to her clients. Yay! As for cash only? Here is my story: when I lived in La i always went to Trim in Venice Beach then moved back to Philly and I lived in center city I went to Joise at Richard Nicholas but then we bought a house in the suburbs and I was like wtf. I have long hair and im very particular about who cuts it so under my wife recommendation I booked with MARISA and after one cut I was sold. I decided to check out Headlines after getting a last-minute Groupon. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get an appointment before the Groupon expired, but they fit me in for that evening with Samantha. I get really nervous when I try new salons. When I walked into Headlines and was immediately greeted by the uber-friendly Samantha, I was immediately comfortable. And when I saw how stylish she, and the other stylists were, it really made me feel good about my decision to try Headlines. When the stylists look good themselves, I'm more confident that they can make me look good. I just wanted partial highlights and a trim, and explained that I had had bad experiences with highlights in the past. Samantha explained how highlights work, and how to tell what type to use on what type of hair. I came out with the most natural-looking, beautiful highlights I have ever gotten. Plus, she stayed past closing to give me a fantastic blow out, and never once made me feel rushed. I will definitely be back to Headlines, Groupon or no. I have been getting my hair cut by Joe at Headlines for over 15 years. I learned about him and his salon when I complimented a friend's haircut who had been going to him for years. I am picky about who cuts my hair and have always been very satisfied with Joe's work. Joe takes his time to understand what style I prefer and will give me good advice about what works best for my type of hair. I've seen many many customers leave with a great haircut and big smile on their face. He's a "down to earth kind of guy", has a good sense of humor and takes good customer service seriously. He expects it from his employees too. He takes his time to carefully train any new stylists and closely watches their work. Samantha has been coloring my hair for the last 8 years or so and does a great job too. Tina has been washing my hair from the beginning and it's like checking in with a friend when I see her. All the stylists are friendly and good at their craft. I'm usually in the shop for 90 minutes and have watched them interact with their customers. I don't mind that the shop only takes cash. I had a business and wish I could have avoided the steady drain of revenue to credit card charges - it's a racket! read more

Words can't even describe how happy I am that I found this place. I recently moved to Havertown and I was looking through Groupon for local salons. I figured I'd buy the Groupon and give this place a shot. I'm really picky about my hair and I haven't been able to find someone to do it the way I like for about 3 years. The Groupon was a great deal. It was like $84 for first time clients. It included a full foil, conditioning treatment, and a cut. I'm so glad I gave this place a chance because my search is now over to find someone that I trust with my hair. Danielle was phenomenal. She was very efficient and so friendly. I spent $2 on parking meters,had to pay $37 for a wash, cut, blow dry. Then I find out I needed cash to pay. Credit cards are not accepted. I went back to Cuz n Co about 10 minutes drive.
