Mandy did a great job on my hair. I would recommend highly. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and down to earth. Mena is a doll and really wanted me to be happy and like my hair. Well, that was easy to do! read more

Great cut as always by Cacie. I returned to the salon after an absence of several years. True professionals, competitive pricing and on-going training for the stylists really shows! read more

Best salon I have ever went to. Every person in the salon is so friendly. It starts with the owner Mena followed by the entire staff. They are a fabulous group who clear love what they do. I was referred to Mikayla who is incredibly talented and a wonderful person. She was so kind and is helping me get my hair back to good health. I honestly can't say enough about what a great salon this is. I highly recommend it to anybody. Each time I have been there every person who leaves the salon leaves with beautiful hair. You will not regret visiting this Salon. They absolutely make it 5 Star Experience. Special thank you to Mikayla and Mena. Thank you for helping me on my hair journey. You couldn't have made it a better experience. read more

As a newcomer to the area and after some research I stumbled upon this salon that appeared to be just what I was looking for. I spoke with the owner and specifically asked for a stylist that was good with very short hair. The owner suggested Mandi ( her niece) as one of the best with short hair. Mandi did a good job with cutting my already very short pixie cut hair. When the stylist was done cutting my hair I thought to my self I found my future stylist and was very pleased with the cut I received. I booked the next day for a highlight/lowlight foils. The intention was not to do my entire head but instead a very small section on the top and sides to add texture. A price was not quoted to me but there were prices listed online. So I had an idea based on the salon 's website. When it came time to pay for services rendered I was perplexed by the price I was charged. I was pretty sure that what I read on the website was different from what I was charged. I called the salon once I was able to confirm what I read for pricing online. Haircuts for women are listed at $32-$50. When I question the charges for my haircut of $62 the receptionist told me prices had gone up and "they didn't have time to change the pricing online"?! Then I was informed that my stylists gets "a little more than other stylist." So the price listed for a haircut, shampoo, conditioning with blow dry and styling reads for women $32-$50... I was charged $62 for my already pixie length hair that was cut no more than 1" all over in total. I inquired about the price for the 1/8 head of highlight/lowlight (online lists starting at $34) that I scheduled for the following day . The receptionist proceeded to quote me a price over the phone of $140+ ?? WHAT? The Full Foil Highlight/Lowlight back to back is listed at $78-$108?! Needless to say I heard enough and immediately asked to have my appointment canceled. I am in no way cheap but I certainly will not tolerate this type of deception! Unfortunately, I am quite sure they don't care about losing what would have been a loyal and faithful client of this salon. False advertising and gouging is just NOT COOL and not the type of place I care to further patronize. I never give reviews but this time I thought it may be helpful to any newbie contemplating services from this salon. Signed: Lesson Learned! read more

Mikayla is just phenomenal. I struggled with bad hair for years. After one appointment with her, my hair looks so healthy. I love the cut, the color, just fantastic. I couldn't recommend her enough. She totally set me up for home care. The shop uses the Redken products, and my hair responds beautifully to it. The shop has a very happy, positive vibe. read more

I'm probably going to regret writing this because Mandi's schedule is always booked out weeks ahead, but I've learned to book before I leave so I'll take a chance and share this local Media gem. I originally went on a friends recommendation back when I used to color my hair. They helped me transition from dyed hair to my naturally white hair and have helped me keep it vibrant and shiny. White hair is like white clothing, it's easy to stain, for instance, did you know that the build up of styling product on your flat/curling iron can deliver a yellowish stain that won't come out? Me either, (yeah I did that). My stylist Mandi told me to clean the plates with alcohol so no more unwanted deposits. All the stylists stay on top of trends and techniques with continued education, and they're all color specialists. The products they use are high end, (no chintzy dollar store shampoo), Pureology Hydrate shampoo and conditioner was used for my pre-haircut cleanse which was quite relaxing. There are many products for purchase, which is where I stock up for my cleansing and styling needs, and they run specials from time to time. Mena is the owner and the one who keeps everything running smoothly. The first time I called my appointment was weeks away, knowing I wanted sooner rather than later, she called me back the next day to see if I wanted a last minute cancellation, which I of course took. The shop is stylish without being pretentious, and you're greeted like one of the family. I haven't mentioned how competitive their pricing is, especially considering the amount of knowledge and talent under their roof, so its still shocking to me how reasonable their prices are. Honestly, I would gladly pay more for their expertise, but that'll stay our little secret. So if you decide to give them a spin, give Mena a call, you can thank me later. read more

Contemporary Styles by Mena - Me from their IG account. - Hair Salons Near Me - Media, Pennsylvania

Great place. We discovered this place by chance through Yelp. We were assigned to Bridget. She did a great job of cutting the hair for me, my wife, and our son. Definitely recommend. read more

This is a great salon! I stopped by as a walk-in, looking for a new stylist. Mena was super nice and so helpful. She set me up with Chelsea right away. Chelsea was sweet and did a great job on my hair. This is saying A LOT. Looking for a new stylist, I had my hair destroyed about a month ago at a Center City salon. I will have to wait for my "bangs" to grow out-- BTW, I have never had bangs. The trip to media might be worth it! Thank you, Mena and Chelsea! read more

Just got another great cut and color by Mandy at Contemporary Styles. She is absolutely wonderful and offers suggestions when I mentioned that I might want a change. The stylists are so good that you good walk in and say - do whatever you want and you know you will walk out looking fabulous. Mena runs a wonderful establishment - she knows every customer by name, treats her staff with respect and works hard to make sure her stylists get the most up to date training. I would highly recommend to anyone. read more

My family just moved to Media and I was nervous about finding a new stylist-- luckily, I found Dom, and she was reassuring, talented, and gave me a great cut (lopping of six inches of hair). The atmosphere is comfortable, professional, and you always feel like you're in good hands. Great price for a great service-- will be coming back for more. read more

Seriously what a bloody hidden gem!!!! Accommodating to a last minute appointment. They are opened late. I had a cut from Bridget and she was the nicest, sweetest and did such a great, great job. I'm hard to please and I rarely give rave reviews. I wish I could put her in my pocket to do my hair everyday. I could go on and on but go check them out for yourself. read more

Great job Bailey! Our son's hair is difficult to cut (three difficult cowlicks) and we've been looking for an affordable place to have his hair cut. They did a great job scheduling us, they were on time, very happy to discuss his hair, and did a great job. We'll be scheduling regular visits soon! read more

Professional, warm and welcoming salon. Mena bent over backward to accommodate me in late fall of 2016 for a major event just 24 hours before, even though I'd never been in her salon. She rearranged the schedule to fit me in for full highlights with Mandy, who did a phenomenal job. Every employee was gracious and sweet. The salon is modern and clean. They did an excellent job both on the service and on explanation of different products without being pushy about purchasing the products. A big city salon at small town prices and definitely worth booking if you're looking for a new stylist. read more

I found this place online by searching for salons in media and going only by the pricing, since all I wanted was to have my hair curled for a wedding and figured that anybody could do it. By the low prices, I wasn't expecting much from the salon, but was so pleasantly surprised!; It is very contemporary, as the name suggests; they have younger girls working there and have a full selection of hair products for you to buy. After having my hair curled by Brianna (which looked great and cost only $17!), the receptionist gave me a card for 10% off a color with Brianna, so since she earned my trust in the talent department, I decided to try her out. I loved my color! She really listened to what I wanted and offered her own expert opinion, which I was happy to take. She was meticulous with my color, and it really showed in the end. I hadn't asked for my hair to be blown out afterwards when I made my appointment, which was fine with me, but the shampoo girl/assistant said that she had time and was happy to blow my hair out for me, and this really showed me how accomodating this salon is; they are genuinely invested in the happiness of their clients, and it really shows. And as a side note, both times that I tried to make an appointment, it was last minute, so they took my name and number in case anything came up, and both times, they called me back and let me know that they were able to fit me in! After getting my hair styled and colored at this salon and being sooo happy with the results, I don't plan to go back to my previous salon; the prices here are better than what you will find at any comparable salon, the service of everybody that works there is better, and you really get what you want read more

Contemporary Styles by Mena has been my Salon for 3 years. Mandi has been cutting my hair as well as working with my color. Mandi is awesome and has never lead me down the wrong path. She, Andie, Ryan and Faith are all terriffic too. They are all so extremely polite and go that extra mile to make you feel at home. The Owner Mena is a class act. She invests in extensive training for her team and they are always current with the trends and new products. She has a wonderful array of fabulous hair products and she will guide you to what product is best for you. I highly recommend Contemporary Styles by Mena. I have been seening Andi for about a year. She cuts my hair and does a wonderful job. I have ftine hair with without any body but they were able to help me find a good cut and the right products as well. Mena and the whole staff there are outstanding. Nice to work with and good at listening to what your problems are in order to help you get the right stylist and right cut. I give them a high recommendation. read more

This is the only place where I will get my hair done. I have lived in Philadelphia and in NYC, and I travel all the way back to Media for them to do my hair because they consistently do an amazing job at a great price! read more

I have been getting my hair cut & colored at Contemporary Style for close to 8 years. I have personally only gone to Andi, Mandi and currently Ryan, but everyone else there seems great. I've seen Faith & Dom move up over the years which makes the the effort put into their employees evident. The skillset and obvious level of knowledge makes the 30+ minute drive worth it. I never have a doubt in my mind that Ryan will give me the blonde I love, and a current cut- I find a lot of other places are stuck in the passed. (and Mena is always walking by, letting you know how fabulous you look) read more

The look of the salon is great, nice hairstylists but I was very unhappy how the manager/owner( not sure which one) treated staff talking down to them, telling them they were sweeping incorrectly in front of everyone. How you treat your employees reflects on your business read more

I used to go to this salon for several years. I would never go anywhere else. They were nice, and friendly...... Until one time they messed my up hair and they made me cry. I had yellow and white over processed highlights. The stylist doing my hair was over worked and working on me and at least two other clients at the same time. She over processed my hair. I was convinced it was the lightening since I've never had problem with my stylist before but the next day it was clear. My hair was messed up. At work every single person asked what wrong with my hair. With spending over $200 I cried. I called the salon that day and they told me to come in and they would fix it. When coming in, I have never in my life felt so attacked. They told me it looked great and they didn't see what was wrong it. The stylist didn't even fix my hair they had a shampoo girl tone it. After toning my hair was still messed up and over processed and it was EXTREMELY obvious it was done wrong and the manger/ owner and stylist just stood over me trying to convince me that I would like it and I am so beautiful now. Never offered me a refund. They pushed me out the door after told them it looks the same and why does my hair start white at the root and turn piss yellow at the bottom. My hair was terrible. I had to spend another $200 to get it fixed from another salon. It's been a few years I will NEVER go back or recommend this place to anyone again. read more

Worst salon and experience ever. They trick you into paying extra at the end. I confirmed price in person and over the phone prior to my service and still they changed me more and were extremely rude about it. Not recommended at all!!! read more

I have been going to this salon for a year now and there hasn't been one time that I haven't walked out being TOTALLY satisfied. Ryan is my stylist and this young man is AMAZING!!! I very much enjoy going to this salon. I was seeing Brianna there for quite a while, but she has left and now I see Ryan. I am very picky about my hair, but both stylists exceed my expectations and I have never had a bad cut here. The lady on the phone when you make a reservation can sometimes be gruff, but overall the staff is fantastic. They greet you with a coffee, tea, or water when you walk in and make you very comfortable. The price for a cut & style is right on. Its a small salon but don't be fooled! They do a wonderful job! Also, I have a difficult work schedule and sometimes its tough to find a time to get a cut. Styles By Mena always works hard to fit me in or get me a time slot that I can work with, even if its last minute, and I appreciate that. One time I took an appointment time because it was all they had, but Mena called me the next day to say they had a cancellation and remembered I was hoping for a better time! Now that is service! read more
