The food was terrible I asked for my burger to be cooked medium, it was "carne asada" well done. Our server was scarcely seen. I had to go to the bar to refill a water. I also had a tall Blue Moon. All college age servers and you can tell they have little training and table checks are lacking. I was a restaurant/bar manager for many years. Your food could be just average and still draw big crowds. When you have bad service, it doesn't matter how good the food is. This place has serious potential if they can get service squared away.

Beyond that, Valerie has consistently been rude, disrespectful, dismissive, and easily flustered during my interactions with her. I even had another bartender mention to me that Valerie apparently doesn't like me because there was an occasion when I didn't tip her. For context, I regularly tip bartenders and service staff. I made the decision to stop tipping Valerie specifically because of the way I have repeatedly been treated by her. At this point, the difference in my experience at Bleachers depending on whether Valerie is working is night and day. When she isn't behind the bar, I genuinely enjoy coming here. When she is, I already know what kind of service I'm likely going to receive. What makes this even more disappointing is that I've spoken with other people around Ahwatukee who have independently described having issues with a bartender at Bleachers who is "always rude" or "always in a bad mood." That tells me my experience may not be an isolated one. Valerie, if you happen to read this, understand that the way you treat customers directly affects how people view the entire establishment. Bartending is a customer-service position, and customers shouldn't feel like they are an inconvenience simply for ordering a drink. Bleachers ownership, please do better. You have an establishment with a lot of potential, and I actually enjoy coming here. But consistently poor service from select bartenders can ruin the reputation of an otherwise good neighborhood bar. I also added a side of sweet potato waffle fries. About 25 minutes after we had already placed our order, the server came back and asked if I'd like a different meat. Like of course I don't want a different meat that's why I ordered carne asada. The server didn't say that they were out of carne asada, but I read between the lines and opted for ground beef cause really the queso is what makes the nachos. Also, I couldn't help wondering why it took 25 minutes to find that out. Then the food arrived. My nachos immediately looked different than expected. Instead of queso, they were covered with shredded cheese. Nothing was mentioned about being out of queso. I notice there was none. When I asked about it, the server casually said, "Oh yeah, we're out of queso too." Wait...what? So the restaurant was out of both the carne asada and the queso. The two main ingredients that made me order the dish in the first place. No one cared to mentioned either of those things when taking my order OR when coming back and asking if I wanted a different meat didn't also mention they were out of queso. Had I known, I would have ordered something completely different from the start. To the server's credit, she did let me order something else. Sucks for the kitchen because they were already closed. I ended up getting the sliders, but they were just as underwhelming as everything else. The food overall tasted like frozen products that had simply been reheated. Nothing tasted fresh, especially considering the prices. The biggest issue wasn't just the mediocre food, it was the lack of communication and straight lie when placing my food in front of me. If items are unavailable, tell customers before they order or at least when placing their food down, not after they've waited half an hour and not saying anything at all. Between the disappointing service, poor communication, and unforgettable food for all the wrong reasons, this place completely lost my trust. I'd honestly rather spend half the money at IHOP, where the food is more consistent and I'd know what to expect.

Had a blast at Sawtooth this past Tuesday. It was a trivia night. The totchos were great, I ate more than my stomach appreciated. My husband ordered a fried chicken sandwich with marinara and a cold beer. I did not ask him how his meal was, but his sandwich disappeared pretty quickly so im assuming it was tasty. The woman running trivia was delightful, with a fantastically dry sense of humor. At one point she mentioned she once got to see Prince and touched his ankle. Long story short, I have now touched the hand that touched Prince's ankle. We made it through 7 rounds of trivia and somehow WON! A crowning achievement of year 37 of my life, for sure. This win earned us: a $25 gift certificate to the lovely Sawtooth Bar & Grill establishment, a rubber ducky of our choosing, a crystal pendant (optional), and 1 week of ownership of the trivia night trophy . We did not trust ourselves to remember to bring back the trophy, and I did not trust some of the fellas to bring it back in one piece, so the bar staff graciously took custody of it until next week's trivia night. The bar itself is super cozy. Nice low lighting, small place but you don't feel cramped. Lots of TVs and a few arcade games. My husband and his BFF frequent this spot and tell me wonderful things about the owner. With the decor, setup, menu and general ambience, it feels like a Midwestern bar more than one in AZ. All in all, I really enjoyed myself and will happily return for another trivia night. My daughter ordered the hot wings for an appetizer. She raved about the wings and the ranch dressing. We ordered the black and blue burger with the spicy Italian sausage pizza. The burger was juicy and bacon was included. There was the right amount of blue cheese. French fries came with the burger and they were good. The pizza had a nice crispy crust and a decent amount of sausage. The hot peppers on it were good, they over powered the pizza and sausage. The pizza was tasty. I would have liked more sausage to balance out the toppings.
