Matty, has been working with Buddy for several years and today she's a different dog. She does outings 2-3 times per week with the most phenomenal humans on the Buddy team. You should see Matty bound down the stairs to shower them with kisses every time. Likewise, she comes back tired and deliriously happy. But, where Buddy has really helped us is in training, both basic commands and due to safety issues, shock collar training. Lilith, the owner of Buddy, was very concerned about Matty's reactivity and strong prey drive which affected her recall. Lilith knew if she ran off after something like a wild animal, bikers, runners, or other dog, Matty could get gravely hurt or worse. I was very against collar training due to my own trauma where my stepfather would torture our family dog for fun with a shock collar at full capacity when I was a child. Just the mention of a shock collar sent me into tears so when Lilith suggested it, I was highly resistant. However, after much thought and a few sketchy situations on the trail with both bears and other dogs, I finally caved. I felt like I couldn't stomach shocking Matty, but the one thing I really couldn't stomach was losing her. Throughout the training process, Lilith was with me and my husband every step of the way, explaining the process as well as having great empathy for my unique trauma. Slowly, I got used to using it and only had to use the vibrate mode and never the shock setting. My husband had to use the shock once and thankfully Matty is so smart, that imprinted on her so quickly, that vibrate was all that was needed for her to run back our sides when called. It was like walking a different dog and because she loves to please us, I think she was relieved to finally understand what we wanted too. She seemed happier instead of confused. Then, one day I was in the forest and Matty was off leash. I saw her tense up, so I looked off into the bushes. A coyote was stalking us. Matty took off running at full speed. I pushed vibrate. No response as her drive was too intense. They were so fast that they made it into a grove of trees about 100 years away by the time I pressed shock. I heard a yelp and then saw the coyote run out of the trees and up the hill, but no Matty. I feared the worst because of the yelp, but then Matty came trotting out of the trees, wagging her tail. The yelp was from the shock collar which startled her enough to call off the chase (which never would have ended until the coyote ran back to their pack). One could say that the collar saved my beloved dog, but really it was Lilith & the Buddy Team who saved Matty. She was the one who could see that Matty's intense drive could lead her to being hurt, but she loved our dog enough to push me to overcome a childhood trauma in order to keep her safe. I'm forever grateful.

As a large pit mix I'd rescued, these issues were super demoralizing and we were scared Bo would someday hurt someone, despite our constant vigilance. Plus his world had gotten super small because I couldn't trust taking him to the places we used to hang in public. Anyway, after the meet and greet we went with a moderate board and train program. And then it didn't start as smoothly as we all hoped. Not because of their team, Bo was just more aggressive and reactive than he'd displayed during the meet and greet. Was it disappointing - absolutely, but most important was Stand Proud were having the difficult conversation with us about what Bo needed. We all came up with a plan that set Bo up for success, and they made sure it was something we were comfortable with. Since then, it's been a journey, but the results are remarkable and they've been so invested in his success. He's got a strong grasp on place and sit until released, and even off-leash skills and recall. He's also much more comfortable regulating himself and waiting for guidance when he's unsure. But the best part of Samantha was her ability to train our unconventional dog. For example, he still doesn't respond to words, but Samantha taught him to keep focus on her (and when he's with me ... me) and even when off having fun, he's checking in and responding to me. We just did a vacation at the beach and allowed him to be off leash in a manner I never imagined. Samantha speaks dog and has been the best decision I made to ensure we have a happy, healthy, well-behaved member of our family.

We went onto do 3 levels of classes with him. Classes were hands down the best investment we made for him, and he went on to live a wonderful fear-free life. I attribute his high quality of life to his basic training classes and the time we put in when he was a puppy. He learned from a very young age how to settle and be calm in lots of different situations. He learned to trust our directions which kept him safe. Puppy social is in my opinion one of the best classes to put a young puppy in. They get to meet other dogs and people in a safe environment, and the puppies teach each other soft bite and learn how to be social. We recently brought a new puppy into our lives. I love the structure of Pjs classes where your puppy is with the same dogs for the 6-week duration. The happy little puppies can all see each other during the class at Pjs, no barriers (unless required to reduce stress of the pet). I like the scaffolding approach that PJs classes offer. You build the dogs' confidence and skills up in a logical way for them to learn. Plus, the puppies are all watching each other learn the same things. It's adorable. Our new puppy has done several levels of classes at Pjs' beautiful new facility in Sparks and HE LOVES IT. He just completed his AKC Canine Good Citizen, we can now consider therapy work down the road with him. He is so excited to get in the door for any play group I take him to and to his classes. We absolutely loved Rally O with Susie, she is amazing. We have referred Susie to friends with some rescues for consultations and they have been super happy. We will complete all the classes PJ dog training offers, because our dog just loves to learn, he really likes to use his brain. He exudes happiness when we get to class. Thank you, PJ and Susie, for helping us raise a happy confident dog yet again and offering such great classes. Highly recommend Pjs, they have so much experience and are CCPTD certified. They also give you time at the beginning of any class for a quick discussion on any "challenge areas". You learn so much to help you understand your dog's behavior. All classes use positive reinforcement. You learn to build a trusting relationship with your furry family members from a place of respect and love. We checked out quite a few places and what set RWC apart is the emphasis on staff training and a carefully maintained staff-to-dog ratio. That means it does book up on busy weekdays and holidays, so reservations are required, which isn't as necessary at a lot of places. Our dog gets easily overwhelmed in new situations, and they've been brilliant at helping her cope and get enough downtime. We love that they have the treadmills, which helps our active dog calm down and focus. Their trainer Star introduced "wait" to her instead of "stay," and it's made a noticeable difference. We've had great chats (in person and by email) with Jodie, the RWC owner, and we love how committed she is to high standards and creating a healthy and safe environment for dogs. I'd say it's a bit pricier than some options, but RWC's commitment to fairly compensating and training their staff is a great thing to see in this industry and, of course, ultimately results in a better experience for the dogs as well.

Organized format in which the dogs are walked through various potential snake scenarios. Trainers guided dogs w/ firm but appropriate commands. Our dogs had been trained using a shock collar so they understood and reacted well. Final test confirmed the dogs understood to stay away.
