VERY SORRY I PICKED THIS COMPANY: LOST AND BROKEN FURNITURE. I thought choosing this company because it was local and has been in business for decades was a wise and logical choice. Boy, was I wrong! I don't know how they managed it, but two items that werenot small were lost in a move that was just down the road. Also, the movers reassembled a bed incorrectly and it broke a few weeks later. A new bed frame was given to me shortly afterwards, but after more than a year, I have not received compensation for the lost items. I allowed them a long time to track down the missing items, before filing a claim, but they were not able to find them. Another problem is that I paid hundreds of dollars extra to have the movers do special careful packing. They grumbled about the move taking much longer than usual. I would think/hope that they were notified that it would take longer due to the extra care I opted and paid for, but it seems they were not. They brought no food or water and did not plan on taking any breaks. They brought no food or water for themselves. I gave them water them and insisted they take a break. On, the plus side, all the people I spoke with, both movers and managers, were very friendly and polite, and the other items were handled with care. read more

Thanks for nothing. Worst moving experience. The move resulted in several broken items and no retribution. Even though the movers apologized for the negligence, the owner would not take responsibility and thus we were stuck with severely damaged/disabled furniture. Our son's skeeball machine, a Christmas present that was only 6mos old, was completely destroyed along with a several other pieces of furniture. Driver stopped in middle of the road to talk too someone walking on the sidewalk. Dude, your in a box truck, with a 10000 lift gate on the back. As I was blowing the horn for driver to drive, he blows his horn at me like I'm doing something wrong! DONT STOP IN MIDDLE OF ROAD to talk too someone walking. read more

The website looks professional and the owner who contacts you for the quote sounds legitimate and professional, but that is where the professionalism ends. The crew that showed up hardly looked ready to perform a moving job, wearing street clothes and no identification for the moving company and driving a uhaul truck. They handled my belongings roughly. I have only begun to unpack, but am sure I will find many broken items. 2 of the 3 guys mostly stood around while one guy loaded the truck as slowly as he could cramming it all in even though I asked we pack it gently and take two trips. They took several smoke breaks, even smoking around my belongings. This was a local move. I used another company for the move out of my home and would have stuck with them but I chose to give hardy a chance and took an earlier available date. Will never use again and wouldn't recommend to anyone! read more

This was the best moving experience ever! After a horrible moving experience with another company a few years ago, I was hesitant to hire movers for my upcoming move. After booking the appointment, HD Auston reached out 10 days, 5 days, and 2 days before the move to see if we needed any help. When they showed up, they moved everything out of the apartment (3rd floor ) and even helped us move extra items into our cars. When they unloaded everything, they offered to set everything up and treated the furniture with care. They were very respectful and so kind! They did a pack and move for me as well as storage. I had several things stolen from me. When I reported it they sent me a $100 gift card and basically said sucks for you. I'm still super upset as I keep finding more things missing from my house. I've told my company and all of my friends to never contract them. read more

Gave me a quote - then charged me more because "it took more time than expected". Broke my favorite piece of furniture and then took months to repair it. Broke my sleep one bed - I slept on the couch until I could go out and get a new one. I could go on but I think you get the idea. read more

The reply time was fairly quick. The first impression on video was a guy with an Afro and eating while taking the survey of my house. To me this is unprofessional. I was told that I would get an estimate by Monday and I got it by Thursday when the move was to happen on Saturday. Definitely didn't use them to make my move. read more

We had a fabulous experience with these movers! All 3 guys couldn't have been nicer. They worked so hard and were extremely careful- not ONE thing was broken. I was very disappointed with this move. HD Auston was to provide a local move for our 4 bedroom house. We had a lot of items that we did not wish to bring or donated. Everything that was to go to our new house was packed and labeled. I even went as far as to tape a labeled ziplock bag to each piece of furniture that needed to be disassembled and put back together. The 3 man crew arrived late and smelled of smoke. Only one employee, Jeremy, broke down furniture and moved it outside to the truck. The other two slowly loaded things onto the truck. They did come inside to help every now and then, but it was rare. They did not wrap one mattress and actually placed most of my furniture on the grass in the front yard before loading. After 8 hours of "moving" my husband decided to cut it short and asked that they not reassemble my daughter's bed. Well, we couldn't put it together because the bolts to her bed were left on the truck. One of our desks was without legs for 2 days because they left those on the truck as well. My furniture was put together improperly and a mirror even fell on my husband. Shelves were left on tables, legs were broken off, there are still nuts and bolts missing to some of my furniture. When I contacted Mr. Auston the next morning, he stated he would review my move and get back to me. I have called twice since then and another employee has come to fix some of my items, but I have not had anything resolved at this point. It has been 3 weeks since my move. My advice: find someone else to help you move. I mean, literally walk up to a stranger and ask if they will move you, it will turn out better than our move. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I have moved several times in my life and this was by far the worse experience I have ever had. Numerous items were damaged including an antique dining room table and china cabinet. Also damaged was a brand new Weber grille, a Craftsman air compressor, a stainless steel refrigerator, several plates, and a couple of stereo speakers. We attempted to contact Mr. Auston but spoke with who I believe to be his receptionist or maybe a family member. She was short and rude! I felt she did not believe us when we reported the issues even though one of their employees reported the china cabinet damage to Mr. Auston the moment it happened on moving day. She stated would have him call us. No apology, she only stated would have him call us. A week or so past with no response. We had to call back and at that time we were told they would mail us a claim form. We filled out the claim form, after having to acquire estimates for the damages, and emailed it to them along with photos of the damaged items. Another week or so went by with no response. We called again and they stated they never received the email which my system confirmed was delivered. We had to resend. Again, another week or so passed with no response. We were finally able to get in touch with Mr. Auston and he confirmed he did receive email this time and "would have something in the mail to you this week." I asked him what that meant. He stated "something would be in the mail this week." I did not push the issue, I just thanked him. Again, no apology. We moved the week of the 4th of July. We received a check about three weeks ago! Of course, it was not for the total amount claimed! And still no apology. Being in customer service myself, I am appalled by the attitude and poor service I received. I only hope no one will use this company. read more
