My husband is a vinyl record collector and over the last couple of years his collection really took off and our house started to overflow with records. Don't know where to start. First - I found Hormoz on Yelp when was trying to find out who can make kitchen for me in 2-3 months, and not in 6 months as i've heard in all shops in Bay Area. Our first meeting made me fall in love with his work - he was showing me and explaining me about everything with so much pride! So I said yes even without an estimate. During the work Hormoz not just worked on my kitchen - he did several really great suggestions that helped to improve the heart of our home. I have now my dream kitchen (he actually added more drawers than I even asked as a bonus). My GC is usually not very chatty person, but I've heard many times from him how he loves my kitchen that Hormoz did. Can you give a review higher than 5 stars? If so, Hormoz would get one. I couldn't be happier with the custom kitchen and laundry room cabinets that Hormoz made for our home. We appreciate that Hormoz let us be involved with design process, offering great feedback to our proposed design. He was incredibly generous with his time, allowing us to come to his shop to review the framing, samples, colors and more. His work is absolutely second to none, everything has perfect fit and finish, with all the small details well thought through and perfectly executed. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his work and does not except anything less than "excellent". I also appreciate how fair and straightforward he was when offering quotes, detailing out each part of his work. If we added or removed anything to the design, he was the first to ensure he wasn't overcharging us. Hormoz also had to deal with lumber and part shortages while working on our cabinets, working overtime to make sure everything was delivered on time. While H&B may not be the least expensive option, I can assure you Hormoz provides incredible value. If I'm in the market again for new cabinets, Hormoz will be my first call. read more

I needed to match two cabinet doors below the kitchen sink that sustained water damage. I went to several big box stores to see if there was any thing ready made that closely matched what I needed. No luck. After looking on YELP to find a custom cabinet maker, I went to HB. Hormuz was able to find a perfect color match and he even was able to drill indentations to fit the old hardware! Hormoz, the cabinet maker built the cabinets for our entire home: a kitchen, 3 baths, butler's pantry, laundry room, mudroom and fireplace mantle. The quality is outstanding. The kitchen turned out exactly how I envisioned it with glazed cabinets going to the ceiling and a beautiful island. I came here to give an update to my review of six or seven years ago, but do not see it anymore. Where did it go, Yelp? Anyway, after these years, my cabinets are still perfect. The wood, the drawers, the slide-outs, the hinges; all parts are working as well as they did on the day they were installed. These cabinets were the best part of my kitchen redo. For our house Hormoz, the cabinet maker and owner, helped us design cabinets for our kitchen, 4 bathrooms, laundry room and media cabinet. He was very patent and helpful throughout the design process, making great recommendations along the way based on his many years of experience that helped pull the overall design and theme together. I appreciate that even if it extended the design process, he would always make suggestions for my wife and I to consider if he felt it would improve the look or function of our cabinets, where others I spoke to would just tell us what we wanted to hear so things would move quick. Hormoz also went to our house during several of the stages of construction to double and triple check measurements. I can't underscore how important I realized this was after the fact because you learn that, even in a new houses, no floors or walls or ceilings are perfectly straight, there will be small variations (like on order of a half inch) from one side of a room to another. So I was very appreciative that Hormoz was so meticulous to ensure all the fine details come together perfectly -- it made a big difference in the end product. After working with many contractors, that you have to constantly stay on top of to ensure they get the details right and complete, what I appreciated most about Hormoz most was that, in addition to being a very skilled cabinet designer and builder, he takes tremendous pride and passion in his work and in making sure everything comes together perfectly. We have selected HB Cabinet to make an extra kitchen cabinet to match our existing cabinets. He told us he was very busy in July but told us call him back in October . We did and he kept his promise to show up at our house. He took time to measure the dimensions and drew a picture in detail to show us what we want.
