I was not going to post anything about this place, but we just received a summary of an abuse/neglect complaint that we made against this facility. Plain and simple, why would you change wording on an incident report if you were not trying to cover something up?
My son went to Hazel Dell Kindercare South for one week. When my wife and I picked him up on the first day, we were immediately met by two staffers in the front office letting us know that there was an incident. My wife and I were not concerned after they explained to us that another child was "learning how to walk and dragged him down when the child tripped." The staffers explained that he may have a slight black eye and a few scratches. There was no report made for this incident nor were we called when the incident happened. Well, when my son was brought to us, we noticed that it was NOT a "slight" black eye, but a very visible and dark black eye with multiple scratches on his face.
We held back all concerns and discussed things int he car. We agreed that if this happened again, we would pull our son from the facility immediately. There was no incident for the rest of the week until we picked our son up on Friday.
On Friday, the staffers gave my wife an incident report that noted another child "scratched" my son's face while they were playing. Of course, we thought this was possible, but upon a closer look at my son's face, he had received another black eye, which was worse then the first, and MULTIPLE scratches on his face. My son was also visibly shaken.
At this point, we could only assume that it was neglect or abuse. These kids were babies! My son was 18 months old! Scratches...yes. Multiple black eyes? Hell NO!
We called the main office and corporate office to notify them of the incident. We were told that the "District Manager" was going to call us back and speak with us about the incidents at the facility. They were very apologetic and assured us they would help. We waited for a week with repeat calls from us with no response. After a week, we finally decided to call CPS.
After calling CPS, someone from corporate finally called us back explaining that the District Manager was on vacation. However, the call came too late. We were stewing over this for a few days and no one seemed to care. Nevertheless, CPS did their investigation and here we are today.
We received a summary of what Hazell Dale Kindercare South reported and they changed their story. They are now saying that they "noticed a bruise on my son's eye and asked him what happened". According to them, my son did not respond so they did not pursue it further. MY SON IS FKNG !* 18 MONTHS OLD!!!! How did they expect him to respond? Also, that is NOT WHAT THEY TOLD US WHEN WE PICKED HIM UP!!!
Again, if you have to change your story to benefit your side, there is obviously something you are hiding. I am sure they will respond to this post and I will follow up with pictures. These are the facts!
Do NOT send your child there. Reports they send you describing your child's day are very generic and fabricated. Another little tidbit: They would say my child was eating great and also described what he ate during the day. Lies! Most of the things that they said he ate, my son actually disliked and we could never duplicate those meals for him. read more
