My husband and I were brand new to the area and I can truthfully say, we found family within this Kindercare. Salmon creek Kindercare is by far the BEST daycare my children could receive. Not only have my children learned so much from these wonderful teachers but they also are so structured which is by far the best. I have had my children in the past in a Montessori school so I was skeptical at first with a larger, generic daycare type of facility but what I've found is an organized and caring learning environment!

Seeing that this was a new experience for us, there were a lot of reservations I had about this new chapter; as with any parent, I was scared that they would not receive that attention they need, the level of care, etc. The teachers at Lakeshore Learning Center quickly put my anxiety at ease after seeing how they took my children under their wing, looked after and genuinely cared about their growth and wellbeing. Each teacher has a warmth to them which makes it very clear that they are there for your kids as both a teacher and friend. I was/am impressed by their structured daily routine and how they keep the children engaged with art, science, dance, song, sensory, etc. The center itself is clean, well organized and operated with kind people. Also, I cannot say enough about how pre-K at Lakeshore really provides the essential tools for Kindergarten readiness. We are thankful and blessed to be attending Lakeshore Learning Center. Our child attended Gardner for four years, preschool through first grade. We loved this school for…read morea long time and still think highly of many teachers, families and kids. Unfortunately, we completely lost confidence in its leadership. First grade was a disaster. An inexperienced teacher was put in charge with inadequate oversight. Parents raised concerns about classroom management, kids not having enough time to eat, cleanliness, bullying, an angry and intimidating environment, physical handling/restraint of students and academics. There wasn't even a clearly established curriculum until parents began demanding answers about what our kids were being taught and how progress was being measured. Our child went from loving school to having sleep problems, anxiety and major behavioral changes. At one point our child was hiding behind a classroom door and under desks crying during an activity involving sewing and hot irons because they were afraid of being poked or burned. We raised serious concerns directly with Head of School Courtney Tomlinson and told her in writing that the problems were affecting our child at home and were "increasing intensity quickly." Other parents were raising concerns too. It took parents organizing, demanding answers, discussing withholding tuition and pulling our kids before the teacher was finally placed on leave and removed. What happened afterward destroyed our remaining confidence. Getting straight answers was difficult. Communications were long on words and short on information. Parents asked for an open community discussion that never happened, while the Board publicly backed Courtney. Less than half of the students are returning next year. Families leave for different reasons, but that level of turnover speaks volumes. Gardner has wonderful teachers and families. They aren't why we left. We told the Board we would not return with Courtney as Head of School and would reconsider if leadership changed. If you're considering Gardner, talk privately to current AND former parents. We wish we had.

We feel lucky to have found Kiddie Academy in Vancouver and even luckier to have the ability to leave our sweet angel with such talented and awesome teachers. In our search for quality daycare, my husband and I visited countless centers both in Portland as well as in the Vancouver/Camas area and either had our name placed on an extensive waitlist or knew the center we were visiting wasn't the best fit fit for our family. We had the amazing luck of stumbling upon Kiddie Academy during their pre-opening enrollment period and after a meeting with the assistant director and the director, we quickly placed our deposit down and enrolled our youngest in their daycare program. The center is brand new and the technology is wonderful (think real time video monitoring, personalized mid-day updates, and end of day activity summaries). I can honestly say that we've consistently found the team at Kiddie Academy to be smart, genuine, and very caring. This center's team will actively listen, without expressing judgement, to any thoughts or concerns you might have. Every employee we've connected with thus far has been dedicated to continuous improvement; consistently focusing on optimized outcomes which benefit the children. If you have the great fortune of securing your little one a spot here too, don't pass up the opportunity! We're big fans of the Kiddie Academy and looking to the future, we're excited to partner with their team in the care and development of our child.
