We came in around 8:30 on a Sunday morning and waited about 15 minutes--not bad for a busy weekend! Once we were seated, waters hit the table immediately and our server was incredibly friendly and attentive the whole time. This is the perfect place to grab a quick breakfast before starting your day on the slopes. Located walkable from the parking lot and lifts for Keystone. (They do have parking right in front of the restaurant, you can't leave your car there allll day, just loop around the corner to the free mountain parking when you're done. It looked at the venue and was very tempted to order one of their mimosa variations, but opted to stick to water this time. Was attending an event in the Arapahoe Basin area and had to stay in a Keystone for a night - so we decided to search up some of the food options in the Keystone area to try, and Haywood Cafe popped up as a highly rated location! We went on a holiday Monday morning around 12PM and had no wait to get seated. I am a fan of the atmosphere and general vibe of Haywood! The interior is decorated with skiing pictures and equipment, giving off a homely and welcoming feeling - I could definitely see myself enjoying a nice and hearty meal here after a long day on the slopes! There was also outdoor dining, which we picked since it was a nice and sunny day, and you do get a nice calming breeze and the beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains to enjoy with your meal if you do decide to dine outside. I ordered a variety of options, which I'll review down below: Smoked Cheddar and Jalapeno Elk Sausage ($5.50): This item piqued my interest, I personally haven't had Elk sausage before so I wanted to try it! There is a good spiciness to the sausages from the jalapeno, and they are scrumptious - texture-wise you get a good snap and chew, and it's sort of like a quick resounding heat that dissipates after a quick while. I'm a fan of this sausage! French Toast ($4.5 each): Pretty standard slices of French toast - they are slightly crispy with a soft interior. They are dusted with a little bit of powdered sugar and you do get butter and syrup on the side. Country Fried Steak & Eggs ($16): Yum! I loved this dish - if you are in the market for a nice and hearty meal, this has got you covered. With this entree you get the option of grits, toast, or homefries - I went the grits option. The grits side is more on the cheesy grits side, very comforting and rich in flavor, sort of like a nice hug. I got my eggs sunny side, and they were cooked nicely with a good runny yolk. The chicken steak was crispy and soaked up the delicious gravy on the outside, and soft and moist on the inside. I would definitely order this again if I'm in the mood for some delicious country fried steak! In the end, I paid about $25 for everything you see here - which I think is a solid amount of food given the price and the location. I'm not sure the next time I would be back in Keystone, but if I am, I would love to pay Haywood Cafe another visit to try the other options. read more

First off the Hash Benedict is served on an English muffin with corned beef, hash and Hollandaise that will have your taste buds singing hallelujah. First visit to Haywood Cafe after driving by for years during ski season was a very busy Sunday morning in July (a good sign). Very friendly hostess (possibly owner/family) offered us the only table left inside which was tiny, but everyone was so cheery it didn't matter. Service was prompt, and I got a "good choice" for my order: the "staff favorite" corned beef hash. Coffee was very good for "diner" coffee (we are coffee snobs, wife brought her own), but the star of the show was the hash. Over 60 years, I've literally had CBH from Maine to California and this makes the top 5, easily! Can't wait til winter to NOT drive by! PS- Heinz ketchup for those who know/care! read more

The food was fine and the server was nice but the restaurant closes at 2 pm and when they start putting chairs on the table while the 5 remaining tables are eating and it is exactly 1:30 is very off putting while you are eating. The bottoms of the chairs that are on a dirty floor are now on top of the tables with 30 mini of time before you close. I've worked in restaurants my whole life. Have a little class and at least wait until you're actually closed before you start putting chairs on tables. read more

The Haywood Cafe is a local staple, staffed by great people serving up some tasty food. I visited recently during a conference, most of Keystone was dead since it wasn't ski season but the Haywood Cafe was happening every day. Lots of locals and laid-back folks. I went for greasy spoon options both days I visited, and yes both days. I went two days in a row. I had the country-fried steak and eggs and could hardly finish it. How have I not reviewed this place?!? I love everything from the crab cake or pulled pork Benny to the Cuban and Buffalo chicken wrap sandwiches. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly and happy with their jobs, evidenced in their laid back approach even when the place packs out (which is every weekend from 8am-2pm). Our breakfast was good. The breakfast potatoes are basically small french fries--no special seasoning or anything. The eggs benedict were really made well. Their country gravy was delicious. The service was so-so. The restaurant was HOT (no AC). If visiting during the summer, try to score one of the outside tables and enjoy the fresh mountain air instead of the inside stifled air.
