Haystack Burgers & Barley in Frisco was a great casual burger stop. We started with the fried pickles and then tried the Haystack Burger, the Vanderslice, and the Picnic Salad, which gave us a nice variety across the menu. The burgers were flavorful, hearty, and exactly what you want when you are craving a good burger. The fried pickles made for a great starter, and I also appreciated having something like the Picnic Salad available when you want a lighter option without sacrificing flavor. Overall, good food, generous portions, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it an easy place to enjoy a casual meal. I've been wanting to try Haystacks Frisco for a while and sadly I didn't have the greatest experience. Its a decent sized restaurant with some indoor and outdoor seating. For a weeknight it was busy so they have their following. I got my food to go so can't speak towards service other than to say my interactions were fine. The food, this is where they dropped the ball. I ordered the barn burner and stuffed Jalapenos. The stuffed jalos are unique with chicken ranchero stuffing. They were a nice bite but not a flavor that resonated with me. The burger in the other hand, oh boy! It looked good, but the pattie was on the rare side, probably medium rare. They didn't ask me about how to prep it, some places don't but they usually don't serve them rare either. I gave it a shot but it was off-putting. :( I also wish the barn burner had more heat but that's more subjective imo. Since I took mine to go I couldn't really ask them to fix it. :( Anyway based on the crowd and other reviews it's probable my experience is not typical, but I would suggest double -cheking the cook on your patty if you get it to go. read more

Ended up an hour away from my home to pick something up and ask the local his two top choices. So glad we picked the burger choice! This is worth driving from Fort Worth just to get the sweet potato chips! The burgers are so juicy and fresh tasting - my Haystack Burger with bbq sauce & onion haystacks was soooo delicious. But those sweet potato chips made my trip! They also have great bar choices and although I don't typically finish an entire beer, the one I chose was so refreshing I drank the whole thing. We sat at the bar, and the staff were so friendly and chatted with us about the restaurant & the area. It's a great little restaurant with a dozen or so tables plus the bar top. read more

Average burger spot tbh, definitely can see why locals would love it but by a visitor it's nothing special. Still great flavor, the bar menu was a little eh, drinks were mid. Popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon to find the place clean, welcoming and with one large table of ladies enjoying their lunch. Before I knew it I was approached by staff wanting to help but as I was waiting for a colleague I took a seat at the bar and studied the menu. Immediately my eyes were drawn to the Barn Burger. To accompany the burger I ordered a half and half which was a pleasant surprise mix of fried and onion rings. Although not rings but onion pieces, it was a great mix. Burger flavor was very good. We felt bad for all of the construction happening on Main St, so we came in to support a local business. We wanted to love it, but we just didn't. It's well enough with the cute interior, linen napkins and walk up order... The kid behind the counter was helpful as we've never been here before. He made suggestions and was okay enough. But I could tell, he was occupied on closing with just an hour and a half left.... But the bartender?? Not concerned about customers. The boyfriend and I were maybe one of three parties in the dinging room and the only ones seated at the bar. I guess she was too busy with trying to close up that she forgot it's still open hours?? We had to get her attention even though we were right in front of her. We came here for dinner around 5:15 pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all but by the we finished, the place was packed! Thank goodness we came early! We order the Vanderslice burger, it was like a Big Mac at McDonalds and the Avocado Burger, the Avocado burger was very juicy but the Vanderslice was overcooked. I went here with some friends one Friday night for dinner. You walk up an order at the front before going to the self serve drink station and then finding a table. I got the Patty Melt $11.79 and an order of Half/Half fries/onion strings. I thought the half and half is convenient and tasty. I actually put some of the onion strings on my patty melt. The Patty melt was fine but the bread was so much bigger than the patty which was disappointing. The burger itself taste wise was fine but pretty pricey for what you get. I would go back but not go out of my way. The construction going on does make it pretty difficult to get too. Had to park in a grass lot in the adjacent corner lot next to it. read more

With the family craving burgers, Haystack was our first stop for our weekend in Frisco. We arrived just as they were opening for lunch, so there wasn't much of a wait and the food came out quickly. I was thoroughly impressed with my Avocado Ranch Burger. Everything just meshed so well together, especially the avocado ranch dressing and crispy bacon, once I had taken a break from devouring my burger, I'd realized this the best burger I'd had in quite a long time. Add some perfectly cooked fries to the mix and everyone walked away happy. So if you are looking for a place that dishes out some great burgers as well as has a great bar and patio set up, do try out the Haystack in Frisco. After a long day, my friends and I stopped by Haystack for dinner this past weekend! I ordered a patty melt and my husband got the Escabeche burger and we shared an order of cajun fries. The burgers were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly! The patty melt has a bit of spice to it that i didn't expect so be warned if you do opt in for it! The fries tasted great (especially with the ranch) but the price seems steep for the potion size. The service at this spot was GREAT! I came here and ordered a vanilla milkshake, a Haystack burger, fries, and a Rueben sandwich to go. The inside was pretty clean and spacious. I could see myself eating here for sine in. They even have TVs which helps you not to miss a game when sports are on. The wait was about 15 minutes. The Rueben came with thinly stacked pastrami, swiss, house-made 1000 island & sauerkraut (which I substituted for lettuce). This sandwich was so good! I loved the flavor of the pastrami; the rye bread was also delicious! I definitely recommend it and I can't wait to eat it again from here. The Haystack Burger comes with Haystack Onions, Cheddar Cheese, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Bar-B-Q, Lettuce, Tomato, & Pickles. This burger has a lot of robust flavor in each bite. The meat is seasoned wonderfully and all the ingredients come together most deliciously. I highly recommend this burger especially if you're a burger enthusiast. The fried onions stand out too they're perfectly crispy. The milkshake was tasty but it was very thick to drink. If you're okay with that then go for it. Such a fun corner spot in Frisco for a lunch or dinner eat. There's a bar separate from the food counter so you can choose a "happy hour" vibe or grab a spot near the window to overlook main street. The patio is also a great spot for a beer. My party of 2 split the 50/50 and still had leftovers. The burgers were exactly what we wanted: cheesy, cooked to perfection, with crisp and fresh veggies. The bottom bun turned into mush befor uiu can finish it, and they serve it sitting on a napkin to help soak up the grease. But it was seasoned well and cooked to medium rare as I requested. Absolutely amazing place in the Preston Hollow location at least when they serve liquor and a smiling faces greet you with amazing Eye-Contact everywhere. Don't even bother with eating utensils this food is the best one eaten with your fingers even dipping my finger into the yellow mustard to go along with bites of my portobello mushroom burger (because they were out of the veggie patties). Brought the family in for dinner on a Sunday. Couldn't believe there was only us and one other family in here. I ordered the patty melt and it was made to order just the way I like it. My wife got the Avocado Baccon burger and my oldest got Andrews awesome cheeseburger. All in all we enjoyed our food and would give the food score a 4/5! Service was quick but "bedside manner" could be a little more cheerful when order was taken. The girl that brought our food was sweet and helpful! Awesome burger place in downtown Frisco! We live in Frisco square and took a walk down here for lunch. It is very cute and clean inside! They have a good menu with many things to choose from! I got cubby's chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the goat cheese and fig burger! Both were amazing and well seasoned! The fries and onion strings were wonderful as sides. I'm very sad because I loved Haystack. Best burgers i've ever had. Been through all the small changes they've had over the years specifically the Frisco location. Tonight was my last night eating here. I thought I'd give them another chance, but my usual avocado ranch burger is always cooked the same no matter what temp I say, and the bacon is exactly the same that wendy's or mcdonalds serves. I don't know if it's me ir others just eat too much ff so they don't have taste buds I ordered the Chubby Chicken Sandwich and the bun is not good at all with this sandwich. The chicken was guge but no flavor except there was an odd soapy taste that made it taste terrible. The lettuce was wilted, no taste in the veggie that came with it. I added avocado which was good I ordered the buy in get on of the half n half so i tried the fries which were tiny and no flavor except skin, the onion strings were just fried flour and no real onion, the sweet potato chips i did like and the fried pickles were sliced so thin it was tasteless I am bot supposed to eat sweets but thought homemade nana pudding would be a great sweet treat but it was not homemade or as described. The burgers are the perfect mix of flavors without one being too overbearing or what I see a lot of burger joints do which is throw the kitchen sink at a burger ultimately making its signature taste nothing because of too much of everything. The meat was cooked properly and the patties themselves were super thick! The fries were good, not outstanding or something to write home about but certainly complementary to the burger itself. I'd say the same about the fried pickles. Not a huge flavor profile but more of a texture enjoyment. The service outstanding, polite, and fast service. It was busy and I was expecting a longer wait but absolutely not. It in-fact was so fast that we thought the wrong food was brought out! We ordered direct from the restaurant to support them during road construction with a 7:00 pm pick up. We arrived at 7:03 and food was cold (fries, fried pickles and onions) before we arrived home which is 5 min away. The only other issue with normal fare was heavy salt on burgers. We know it's not health forward so didn't take exception. The one item I'd share as maybe helpful for vegetarians is please disclose it's a spicy black bean burger as 'veggie patty'. I've been vegetarian since 17 (in my 50s now) and hate those as the flavor is so specific. It's like a southwest taco on a burger bun and doesn't taste good with most burger adds. Love the place and know what you do well. Just sad because this was a last junk food hoorah before new years and it didn't live up to standard. read more
