The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The window shades had the dark "black out" curtain as well. This was especially welcome promoting a deep & restful sleep. The pool was a welcome respite, as was the jacuzzi. Perhaps it's just 2026 where nothing is cheap, but I struggle trying to understand how a roadside hotel is now $150/night, but here we are. You should know from looking that it ain't the Ritz, but it was a perfectly decent, quiet place to stay for a couple of nights with a bit of quaint, if slightly squalid, charm.

To start off, I cannot say enough good things about the couple running this place. They were incredibly welcoming and chipper. If there was anything we needed - irons, restaurant recommendations, directions - whatever, they were there to help. That being said, the friendly couple bumped my review up to two stars instead of one. We had booked a non smoking room. We were handed a key once we arrived that lead us to room #11. Now, being a former smoker, I'm not too sensitive to the smell of smoke. I know when it's present, but it doesn't bother me. We entered a room that had to have been smoked in (with windows shut) for years and years. This could be seen by the dripping nicotine stains that ran down the walls and the yellow tinted windows. Before puking, we returned to the office and asked for another room. We were given another room but were told that we would have to switch rooms halfway through our stay. What? Moving on.. We did not have hot water for the entire stay. Every morning for four days consisted of a 2 min shower underneath ICE COLD water. The other seven people we knew in other rooms did not have hot or even warm water either. Again, city or country living, when you pay for a motel room, hot water should be high on the list of things that need to be included. Beyond those reasons for my rating, it was a compilation of other tiny things. Things that may not matter to others, but for me, lead to a fairly dissatisfied experience.

The parking is free and there is plenty around the building and it was nice to be close by a coffee shop. The inn provides a lot of food recommendations and things to do nearby. If I had time I would have checked out the Horicon marsh to go birding.

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.

My company rented rooms here because the other hotel in town was full. From what I saw of Beaver Dam, it appears to be a nice town, but this hotel falls short in so many ways. If my training class wasn't located 3 and half hours away, I would have commuted. If you are desperate and no other choice I would recommend bringing shower shoes and air freshener. I would also recommend being up ti date in all immunizations before your stay. For the most part, the staff was friendly and far less disgruntled than I would have been if I had to work there.

This location is now considered a Baymont Inn & Suites. It looks like they didn't do too much to update or change it for the better, basically kept it as is. There is no more exercise room or dry sauna, both have been turned into storage. The hot tub was also closed down while we were visiting. Not sure if that was temporary or if it has been out for some time. The pool wasn't that warm so not having a hot tub was a huge miss for us. Breakfast was not bad. Standard hot continental options - make your own waffles, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and microwaved omelets. There was also plenty of cold breakfast options as well. Location was pretty good, you are within walking distance/short drive to many different fast food options and gas stations, right across the street from a grocery store (Piggly Wiggly), and around the corner from a local coffee shop. You are also right off the highway (for better and for worse). If I would have paid in the $80-110 range I would have been OK with this place but I overpaid for what I got in terms of experience.
