Never in my life have I come across something so ridiculous! On top of that there is a main road that goes in front of the hotel and it sounds like a mix of NASCAR and a monster truck rally going on. The beds are also tiny, I got 2 twin sized beds...I don't think they are even double sized. My childhood bed was bigger than these. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the loudest hotel I've ever stayed at. If you value sleep and a quiet room do NOT book this hotel.

We meet for dinner on a Thursday night and then participate in an all day meeting on Friday. I have found my entire volunteer effort to be rewarding and am grateful for this modest opportunity to give back to the College that was such a key piece of my long career. I'm happy to make the long trip from Northern Nevada, but there are expenses to consider. In particular, hotel space during the recent Homecoming weekend was both sparse and expensive. I planned for this by making my reservation (almost a year in advance) further away from Iowa City towards Cedar Rapids. At the time, the Hotel with the best combination of proximity (maybe 30 minutes away) and price was this Residence Inn by Marriott. The Hotel was easily accessible off (and on) the 33rd Avenue exit off I-380, with easy parking, and short drives to various dining options. I found the Lobby/Breakfast area to be comfortable and welcoming. The free hot breakfast was also more diverse and interesting than I've come to expect. During my 3-night stay, it was clear that other Hawkeye fans had the same idea, although we were in the minority to the various trades guest who were staying here. My room was very spacious and relaxing. I appreciated the division between bedroom and Livingroom, and a nice Kitchen. The showers were strong and hot, and with good Wi-Fi. My only quibbles were that the Livingroom was a little dark (even when fully lit) and I should have asked for maid service at least once within my 3-day stay. I'll be back in the Iowa City area next April and October. Room availability will probably be easier in Iowa City next Spring, but you just might find me here for the next Homecoming. Go Hawks!

Consider yourself warned…read more I have traveled my whole career, and I have never experienced a Marriott property that is so poorly maintained and in need of an update. The furniture is ripped, the carpet is ripped, the furniture is sinking in, and there are bugs in the rooms. I cannot believe that Marriott is allowing this property to continue with its name. I travel to Cedar Rapids frequently, and I would drive 30 to 45 miles to another property or another brand before I would recommend this property. That said, my experience with the staff was very positive. They are a delight to work with, and I feel bad that they have to work in such a poorly maintained facility.

I have to agree ---this has to be by far the best hotel experience that I have ever had for the very reasonable price!!! Everyone here is super friendly! It was VERY clean. The indoor pool is emaculate and warm and the jacuzzi is HOT with great jets--- VERY CLEAN! I used the pool 2x a day and I usually had the pool to myself early in the mornings and late in the evenings. The hotel room was big with nice counter space, drawers, a fridge, sink, coffee pot, and a microwave with popcorn! The TV is a huge flat screen on a swivel with a large desk to work on or to conveniently store our suitcases on. Free Wi-Fi. Free bottled water. Tea and coffee served all day with fresh fruit and yummy cookies in the afternoon. The hotel is conveniently located near a variety of great restaurants, a flower gardened park to walk to, 2 movie theaters, and all types of shopping. My only very small compliant is that the room key needed to be reset numerous times.

The woman at the front desk seemed bewildered, but happily switched me to a new room - which was a normal Holiday Inn Express room. Comfortable bed, plenty of working plugins for my electronics, cable / digital tv and a super clean bathroom. A swimming pool is onsite, however I didn't use it. Plenty of parking is available.

There is an entry way with a large closet on one side and large bathroom on the other. The bed faced the windows and there was a large desk behind the bed with plenty of space to spread out. King sized bed was comfortable. Large TV with smart streaming options and a mini bar area with coffee pot, microwave and mini-fridge. Water pressure was good, temperature nice and hot, towels fluffy and large enough to encircle a normal sized human. The complimentary breakfast was fine quality of food-wise, but had fewer offerings/options than many of the similarly priced hotels I've stayed at. There was a waffle station, scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, dry cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, white milk, and juice. I will caution that if you stay in the main hotel area and not the "pool view" area, it is quite a trek to the pool and breakfast area. We had to go up three floors, walk the full length of the hotel, and then cross the skywalk to get there. If you have mobility issues or little kids it's a good idea to pay the extra money for a much closer room. The pool/bar/rec area where breakfast is served is really nice. Pool table, darts, Foosball, and video games keep the kids busy while you have a drink at the bar. I have 2 complaints. 1 - the hot tub was the temperature I made my kids bath water when they were little (and no I'm not a sadist.) 2 - the steakhouse they still advertise as their on-site restaurant has been closed for over two years. They have frozen pizza, wings, and burgers available at the bar but that's it.

The room was not cleaned:splashes on the bathroom mirror (from previous people), toilet not cleaned and had little hairs on it, bottom of the entertainment center was covered in dust, ceiling peeling, cobwebs on ceiling, closet door track dirty and rusty, caulking in bathroom just gross and was dirty. My stay was unfortunately impacted by issues outside of the hotel's control. A blackout affected the area on the day of my stay - including the gas stations across the street. When it was fixed, apparently the phone lines got crossed - the next morning, my room was flooded with calls asking me if this was the Fairfield Inn & Suites from customers seeking to make a reservation. I walked downstairs and let the front desk know - they said they weren't receiving calls at all this morning and were trying to diagnose the issue. They were extremely apologetic, another sign of great customer service. Rooms were very clean. I would stay here again!
