This has the be the loudest hotel I've ever stayed in, and I travel about 200 days a year for work. It's so ridiculous that they actually have a sign in your room saying a train comes through and they give you ear plugs to help with the noise....but it still wakes you up. Never in my life have I come across something so ridiculous! On top of that there is a main road that goes in front of the hotel and it sounds like a mix of NASCAR and a monster truck rally going on. The beds are also tiny, I got 2 twin sized beds...I don't think they are even double sized. My childhood bed was bigger than these. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the loudest hotel I've ever stayed at. If you value sleep and a quiet room do NOT book this hotel. read more

Great hotel in the heart of downtown. Clean quiet rooms with a restaurant on the inside call 350, and it's on the 16th floor. Friendly folks and plenty of places to eat. Now, not many shops open on Sunday and downtown was like a ghost town. Hopefully it picks up during the week. If in the area give it a try. read more

Walking in the hotel.. it was clean on the outside and very clean on the inside.. i loved seeing the holiday decor The lady at the front desk was very welcoming and made sure to set our cookies out! Nice and warm My cookie didn't make it to the elevator On to the rooms.. walked in and again it DID NOT have that weird stinky smell! Yes!! everything was nice and clean. So you all receive 5 stars from me! Thank you guys for the awesome hospitality. read more

I expected so much more from a Hilton property, especially at over $300 per night, and I was deeply disappointed with my stay. First, the basics weren't even right. The bed did not have fitted sheets -- instead, it was made with flat sheets that slipped off constantly. For a brand like Hilton, this is unacceptable. Second, the service was well below standard. The concierge acted as though helping guests was a burden rather than their job. A welcoming attitude should be the minimum at a hotel of this caliber. The final straw was the lack of basic supplies. When I checked in, my bathroom had only half a roll of toilet paper. When I requested another roll, I was told they would not bring one up to my room and that I would need to come down to the lobby to get it myself. I've never experienced anything like that at any hotel, let alone one charging this kind of rate. There were also stains in the carpet and the mini fridge hadn't been wiped out in between guests. For the price I paid, I expected professionalism, comfort, and basic amenities. Instead, I left frustrated and disappointed. read more

I have stayed at a couple of Double Tree hotels. This is located downtown Cedar Rapids and the location is good. When we checked in we were given the famous Double Tree cookies, but they were not warm. I got up to my room and was greeted with two DOUBLE beds. Not even queens. Doubles. Ugh. The beds were comfortable, if SMALL. Also the cleanliness was a little iffy. There was something stuck on the nighstand. There was something stuck on the soap dispenser in the bathroom. These things could have been taken care of with some cleaner and a bit of elbow grease, but that seemed to be too much to ask. One thing though, it was QUIET and the bed was clean. read more

I always enjoy the Double Tree hotels. This is regarding a billing dispute. I booked on Hilton.com. NOT expedia or kayak or any 3rd party. They billed my card $1200 in April when I made the reservation for May 15-18th. I received a bill from Hilton.com for $812 all in when I left. The hotel says they can do nothing about the difference because it was booked through a 3rd party but my receipt is from HILTON.COM I called Cedar Rapids Double Tree. They can do nothing for me. Visa is now stepping in to dispute this. This is not what I want from a nice establishment like the Double Tree. Totally unacceptable. The Visa statement says it was booked through Hilton.com. Keep your receipts people. read more

This must be my third or fourth time staying here and I'm completely shocked that I forgot to do a review. This is probably my favorite hotel to stay at in downtown Cedar Rapids Iowa. Room: if you were into very cold rooms like I am you'll be very happy. I wish every single air condition was this good at all the hotels I stay at. I'm not sure what they do with their air condition but let me tell you were ice cold. I slept like a baby. The air condition works so well. Thank you to management for having great air conditions and taking care of your clients. Also the beds are very comfortable. Top notch all the way around. The rooms are very spacious as well. The shower is absolutely great. This is a five star stay. Client relations: we had breakfast and lunch every single day and all of the wait staff was absolutely professional. We had dinner there if you need too. The people that work here do an amazing job and really go out of your way to make sure you have everything you need to have a perfect state. Olivia was an absolute pro. I forgot a few things and she brought them up from the reception station all the way up to my room. This is absolutely a five star stay and a great value for the money that you pay. Thank you guys for doing such a great job read more

The service is crap. The people that work there are rude and very dismissive. Once I finally got into a room. It was disgusting and the bed look like it was made by somebody how late in it. read more

Spent the last couple days here at a convention. The rooms are nice and updated and the Tv has Netflix and Roku. The room had a refrigerator and Felix bedding. This hotel provides 2 star hotel service at a 4 star hotel price. Parking isn't free or convenient to get to from the hotel, there is no microwave or mini fridge in the room, not even a basic continental breakfast offered, no coffee available in the morning except cheap pod coffee in the room. The real kicker is that apparently they don't do room service unless requested, which would be ok if they told us this during check in. When I then specifically requested room service, they still never came. After getting back to the room from a wedding at 11 pm, we had 3 days of garbage, no clean towels, and no more coffee pods. This hotel either needs to lower their rates to reflect the poor customer service and amenities, or step it up and show that they actually care about their paying customers. I am very disappointed with my experience here. The only good thing I can say about this place is its location. read more

Everything went well. Exactly what I expected. Was referred to by a friend can't complain.

Ok, this is a Hilton like most others. It's a well run, great hotel. Free WIFY, wonderful breakfast buffet, helpful staff, heavenly beds. It's clean and well maintained. There is a train track close by but to me it's a reminder along the lines as an old friend. It's a reminder of my youth and I enjoyed hearing it every time. For me, it's not a minus, it's a plus. read more

I went to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel to go to the Cedar Rapids Beer Summit and it was a lot of fun. They opened up their hotel ballroom to host several different breweries in booths in a giant circle around the room. This is my first time visiting Iowa... and here I am in Cedar Springs. I will say the city is charming and the DoubleTree is one of the best DoubleTree hotels that I've been to all year. With my crazy travel schedule, I am all over the place. There windows go down to the floor, you can control the A/C and Heat, and the rooms are decent sized! I think I have a new favorite Hilton brand! read more

Workers were completely rude and unprofessional. Were sexist and also homophobic to me and my girlfriend.

This is a big hotel and it's attached to the convention center. It's very nice, updated, clean, and the staff is professional. We had a room on the 15th floor with city views and it was pretty great! We enjoyed just hanging out in our room and exploring downtown CR. Nearby you'll find scooters and bikes for rent, which was nice. There's lot of things to do within a 5-mile radius. read more

The other reviews aren't kidding about the train noise. A train comes along at regular intervals through the night and blasts its air horn several times each time. This happened at 10pm, 11:30pm, 4am, 6am, and no doubt other times through the night that I lost track of. I felt like I was living out an old I Love Lucy sketch. This train whistling might be outside the control of the hotel but it's reason enough to seek out another hotel if you want a place to have a peaceful sleep. Now for the part that is 100% the fault of this hotel: They serve breakfast for a fee but deny it as a benefit to Hilton Honors gold and diamond members in defiance of Hilton brands standards. The hotel management told me this is because of COVID but seriously how stupid do you think we are to believe that COVID knows the difference between a paying customer and a diamond member getting it for free? Will the virus attack a diamond member but if you pay for the same breakfast dining in their open dining room that the virus will respect your spendy ways and move on? It's dishonest nonsense and just points to greed. Say what it is and don't play a pandemic for your opportunistic monetary gain. To add insult to injury, the hotel claimed they would credit me the usual points since they denied me my breakfast but they didn't even do that! I'm never returning this hotel. The location's terrible noise is only overshadowed by the greedy, insulting hotel management. read more

Great hotel.. the locomotives running at all times of the night blaring their horns adds to the ambiance and feel of yesteryear when most hotels were along the rail lines. An air raid siren at 4 am would be some nice added nostalgia. If you're a deep sleeper or snore. 5 stars for sure read more

We booked on hotels.com for upcoming memorial day weekend. Due to graduation event, we parked in ramp for a little while. The first hour is free. On Saturday and Sundays parking meters aren't enforced so we parked free Saturday night. My son and husband had the cookies. The room has no microwave or fridge. Not the best value for your money. The beds and pillows were adequate, clean and spacious room. The hotel is next to railroad tracks and you will hear train horns during the night. These two negatives will keep me from returning. read more

Very conveniently located and the shuttle will pick you up and take you to the airport and anywhere in a 4 mile radius. The service here is great and everyone is super friendly and accommodating. The rooms are huge and very clean. I was on the 10th floor so the train didn't really bother me, but I could see it being a issue for those located lower if you're a light sleeper. Ordered room service one of the nights and was not really happy with the food for the price I paid ($50 for pizza, a chocolate cake, and a glass of wine). But the warm chocolate chip cookie you get when you check in was a great treat! read more

Especially well appointed and maintained DoubleTree in the bustling heart of downtown Cedar Rapids connected to the local convention center. Do you like tall buildings in the midwest - well you are in luck - this is probably the tallest building for 100's of miles. Rise above the city and take in nice views of the town and surrounding neighborhoods. Rooms are fairly updated, but the cleanliness is top notch. Linens and pillows are higher end and the beds, although not lush, are not like cardboard and should provide a restful sleep. Bonus - almost instant hot water in the faucets and shower - that might not matter to some, but it is nice not having to wait (I know - first world problems). Parking is across the street and will set you back $12 a night. Easy access to downtown and many local dining options. Try the hotel restaurant - 350 First - for a decent menu and solid drinks. All in all a pretty good hotel. read more

I slogged my way over to this hotel for a gymnastics meet. Hearing it was a convention center made me wonder how run down the hotel might be. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the lobby was airy and clean, which made me believe perhaps my room would be nice as well. I checked in an hour early, a plus right there. The check in clerk was very friendly and inviting. I only use the word 'inviting', as I have been to many hotels over the past few months, and have been greeted in a less than polite fashion. I'm just sorry I don't remember his name, yet he shouldn't feel bad, because I often forget my own name as well. My room was very nice. Clean. Plenty of extra pillows and towels. A basic room, but everything was good. The only thing that threw me off was this large wheeled laundry basket filled with sheets and towels, in the hallway. I had a fleeting thought that perhaps El Chapo was hiding, awaiting freedom, but then realized he had already used that escape route before, and surely would not utilize it again. If I had to spend another weekend watching gymnasts throw aerials, I'd book at this hotel again. Self parking is across the street, but accessible through an indoor sky walk. I'm not a fan of parking fees, but I only paid $12.00 per day, as opposed to several other hotels that charged $25.00 and up. Please excuse my lack of usual sardonic remarks, I am running low. I ordered a box of sarcasm from Amazon, and am listening out for the USPS carrier. read more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago! It is a nice hotel. However, my wife noticed an additional $250 dollar fee applied to our Credit Card! When my wife called to ask what the charge was the receptionist responded it was a smoking fee! My wife asked why we did not smoke in the room and she was told that the housekeeper seen unsmoked cigars and tobacco pieces in the room. Not once did they say it smelled like smoke, because it did not smell like smoke! Neither my wife nor I smoked in that room but yet we were charged $250 dollars! We were there with our two small children attending a Birthday party, which was supposed to be a joyous occasion instead it was turned sour by these ridiculous charges! There is no way to dispute them? There is no one to talk to, as my wife called the property directly and was told she would be getting a call back in the next couple of days, which she still hasn't received!!! I worked for North Liberty Iowa based Kinseth Hospitality/IHG for 14 years and NEVER was this practice utilized! Lying and gouging guests. My wife is a attorney so we travel quite a bit and I have never had this happen until now. And then the total disregard for guests and our complaint was astonishing! Hilton you expect a modicum of class/professionalism however so far it has evaded our interaction. We will be staying at another Doubletree in Phoenix next week, please let there be no issues. We will also be requesting a Manager to do a walk thru of our room before checkout to confirm the room has been left in satisfactory condition. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this hotel. Not only were multiple rooms left uncleaned, but the staff's response to a serious incident was shockingly unhelpful. Our room was broken into, and to make matters worse, important items were missing. The lack of security and the staff's indifference left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. It's clear that the hotel's management needs to address these issues immediately. I strongly advise against staying here until they can ensure the safety and comfort of their guests. Also that the lack of security and cameras along with the uselessness of the staff was appalling when you talk to them. The way the situation was handled would deter you from recommending them to ANYONE and you will be spreading the word or posting online. read more

The Doubletree was a wonderful place to stay. The shuttle was waiting for us as soon as we walked out of the airport. Our keys were ready quickly. My room was large, clean, and the bed was comfortable. I was in an even numbered room and did hear the train loudly on my first night there. But this isn't the hotel's fault. My colleague that had an odd numbered room said she never heard a train. The workout room was fully adequate to get in a great workout. The hotel was close to several places to eat so I was a happy camper. I would stay here again if I was in the area. read more

Very nice hotel with big rooms and an incredibly comfy bed. However I was pretty upset on my second stay at the hotel with the poor service I received. I wanted a microwave in my room for my week long stay. I was told that I would cost $15 per day. For that price I could by my own unit. Keep in mind that I was also paying $22 a day for parking. I was then told that I could have use of a microwave in the lobby. Turns out that I would have to hand over my food to have the staff operate the microwave for me. I asked for the managers card, but none were available. Don't think that I will be returning. read more

My go to when in Cedar Rapids. I did the Marriott last time and regretted not staying here. Here right now and having an excellent stay; as always. The location is clean (even now during winter) and the front desk staff were extremely helpful, even during my midnight check-in. Therms were also ready with late night food recommendations and ensured U had everything I needed for my stay. This morning I made a comment about Uber (not being there) and inquired about a taxi. They were then so kind as to have the shuttle driver take me to my rental car (across town) immediately. Above and beyond. Thanks guys! And to the people complaining about $12/22 self/valet parking... Don't write a bad review over small fees that aren't representative of the hotel itself. Those rates are amongst the lowest in the country anyways. SMH. Go to an major metropolitan area and try double that at least and some don't even have in/out privileges without additional fees. The maid service was terrific here, but little else was.* My major gripe was that the hotel booked several dozen rooms to a sorority group and did nothing when they hung around, blasted music, and traipsed drunk through the hallways all night. Various other people in my conference group complained to the desk to no effect. At checkout they seemed pretty tone deaf to the complaints. Would not recommend staying here to anyone who enjoys a good night sleep uninterrupted by coeds drunkenly butchering Rihanna lyrics. *Scratch that: the upstairs bartenders mixed decent drinks. read more

Horrible! Got multiple Bed Bug bites on my back. Woke up to one on my neck, called the front desk and they sent up 2 staff members who confirmed that it was bed bugs and moved me to another room. No comp's offered, no one checked back in with me and no manager ever even came by to ensure I was taken care of. When checking out all I received was attitude from the lady at the front desk. Then about an hour after checking out I received an email from a manager stating they would only take care of my restaurant charges which were not much.. Come to find out after arriving home, I'm allergic to bed bug saliva and I now have hives all over my back and neck!!!
