Matt was so wonderful, he made our honeymoon even more enjoyable with his hospitality! The views and wine here are amazing.

5 stars for an incredible unique experience with the kindest staff and some really awesome wine. I came to this winery with the preconceived notion that Hill Country wine was never good and boy was I wrong. The tasting room itself is pretty simple, but it sits on a hillside with stunning views. They serve some small bites like a pretty rocking cheese board and do single glasses and flights of wine. What made this experience special, though, was the staff. We spent two hours chatting with them and trying several of the wines and it was such a positive experience. Most of the wine was well-balanced and complex, unlike most of the wine I've had from this region. They do not have any sweet wines at all, which was a welcome surprise to me since I feel Hill Country loves their sweet wines. After the tasting experience, they took us down to the barrel room to check it out and learn all about their process. They even took photos of us down there and answered any and all questions we have. You can tell they're passionate about their product and love connecting with their customers. Highly recommend checking this winery out above all others in the area!

Had an excellent time tasting wines during a road trip to the Hill Country. I opted for a flight, and I was given several extras to try. Some of the wines were a bit sweet for me, and I did not like aftertaste of some as well. However, it was overall a very pleasant experience, as the service was phenomenal and the ambiance was solid.

I went to Hawk's Shadow during a wine tasting expedition with a friend and we had the best time. We got a tour of the winery as well as 2 flights then sat outside to enjoy a glass and charcuterie. It's a bit of a drive to get there so I recommend adding it to another activity or winery in the area to make the most of it. Also, a designated driver is highly encouraged . The service was great and I would love to go back!

Came to this winery based on other Yelp reviews when looking up Dripping Springs wineries. We drove up for the day and were the 1st ones here .Immediately we could tell how peaceful and tranquil the scenery made this place. We met Carol who was wonderful introducing us to some of the owners and explaining the local wines and history. 1 of the founders Chip C. offered to show us the wine cellar which was made from limestone on their property and is the only 1 of its kind since it is self-sustaining like a cave and no external cooling system is needed. As we walked back in we met another owner Doug R.who asked if we would like to tour the vineyards. That was magical as we were let past beautiful horses and donkeys that keep the coyotes away . Many grape harvests were affected by the Texas 2021 freeze and this vineyard is slowly returning .We still were able to see the beginning of grape clusters and learn which ones are made here to become their future wines. An absolute treat!! We returned to the main home and started our dry red tastings. The best part was Chip's storytelling of his wines and how he made each guest feel so comfortable. We even had an opportunity to try some of his higher end reserve wines that were perfectly blended from a 2019 harvest. July to August there are volunteer opportunity to pick grapes in their vineyard early in the morning 6 to 8am which would be absolutely thrilling . "An Under the Tuscan Sun moment". Hope to be back and would highly highly give this vineyard a look if you are in Dripping Springs , want to get away from all the noise pollution and want an off the beaten path kind of vineyard that has some beautiful views and wonderful fragrant naturally source wines.

Beautiful property here at Hawk's Shadow. We chose the 6 wine sample selection and enjoyed the quiet calm and relaxing views. Was a little bit of a drive from Austin but a good overall experience.

A wonderful hill country wine experience!! It was my boyfriend's birthday and I was overwhelmed with the number of wineries to choose from but I'm so glad I picked this one. We did the Winemaker's experience ($50 a person) and it was extremely worth it. I say we tried anywhere from 10-15 wines. Going into the cellar and trying the maturing wines was very interesting. If you like educational experiences along with great wine, this place is for you! Please note there are NO sweet wines, so if that is your preference try elsewhere! My bf loves drier crispier wines so he loved it. I cannot thank our guide Matt enough. He made the experience so special. He was very knowledgable and fun. I would 100% recommend a winemaker experience with Matt.

My husband and I found our new favorite winery to visit on the weekends! My husband is a huge wine-o, so we frequently visit various vineyards on the weekends. I decided to check out Hawks Shadow Winery, and I'm so pleased we took our chance visiting this winery! I made a reservation for a tasting at 2:30, but we arrived almost 30 minutes early. The owner was so kind to allow us to get started with our tasting early, and welcomed us to choose anywhere to sit as they bring the wine to you. We got the tailored tasting, which included 6 of their wines (two white, one rosé, three reds). They only make dry wines and serve no sweet options, but that's how my husband and I prefer our wine! All of our wines were delicious, and we even went home with a bottle of Emmett as it was our favorite. The story behind the wine is also so lovely, as the owner shared the wine is adoringly named after the venue's Aussie Emmett. I also love that the owner made sure to share various dishes that would pair best with the wines we tasted! The owner that led our tasting was so lovely to converse with, and guided us through our tasting in a fabulous manner while sharing more about the history of their winery. It was incredible getting to hear all about it! When my husband shared his deep passion for wine, the owner was kind enough to offer to take us to the cellar and share more about the winery's history. It was beautiful, and so amazing to hear the amount of care, passion, and dedication that goes into each of their wines! What was truly amazing to hear was the family history behind their winery. The winery is lovingly named after one of quarter horses that made a lasting impression in the hearts of the family. The vineyard itself is so beautiful, and you get to enjoy the most stellar view of hill country. You can be sure to capture beautiful photos no matter where you are! My husband and I also went home with two wine glasses, and we just can't wait to open our bottle of Emmett. I highly recommend coming to this vineyard for a fun date, or a wine day with the girls!

WOW- Definitely the place to be if you're looking for passion and excellence in wine! HSW has many complex wines, our favorites being the Riesling, the rosè, and the estate Merlot, but honestly everything is so well balanced and made with care. The folks here took their time educating us about their wine, and we even got to see their wine cellar. There is a science behind everything they produce and do, which is evident in how good their wines are!

The wines here are really good. They are produced here - true production (not just buying finished goods). Some with a smokiness - delicious! Vineyards ON SITE. Lots of great photo opportunities here too. There's a cellar downstairs where they have the barrels. Get a tour to understand the careful decisions they made to make these amazing wines! Owners are also on site and so knowledgeable. It's hard to meet people that are so dedicated to high quality grapes and quality oak. I've been to a few wineries around lake Travis and this one is my favorite by far. The wines are dry wines. They are not sweet! Definitely worth a drive here!

Hawk's Shadow Winery was a hidden gem. It's not as large or as busy as other wine tasting options, but that's part of its charm. We came as a group of four ladies for a wine tasting in early February. The views were beautiful, even despite being slightly chilly (which they provided blankets for!) I don't know too much about wine myself, but still enjoyed the tasting experience! They poured a generous amount and the variety was great. My friend even ordered an extra glass after the tasting, and the host, Chip, let everyone in our party taste some of the wine she ordered. He was also very receptive to our tastes, such as when our friend asked for a drier wine and he brought one right out. Chip was a wonderful host. During the wine tasting, he provided a thorough overview of each wine, even all the way to the details of naming the wine. He even offered to show us the cellar and spent plenty of time sharing about the history of Hawk's Shadow and getting to know us. We learned that the winery is named after an adorable horse named Hawk with a friendly personality!

On another note, I was kind of surprised to find an all-California winery in the middle of Texas. I am sure there will be people who say the wines are automatically better because California, but that is not necessarily true. Still, I was intrigued. And yes, some of the wines were quite good. The Tempranillo was especially good (and the bottle was gorgeous). I might go as far as say it was one of the best Tempranillos I've had. But most of the rest that I was offered didn't really leave an impression. They were.. ok? I admit I am not a huge fan of big-bodied California wines generally, and maybe that was it, but even the white I had hit a little flat. The service also felt a bit off. It felt like other people came in and were warmly greeted, but I would just get my pour and a perfunctory description of the wine and that was it. I felt like the staff was very cold unless you were a regular.. but how does one become regular with that? I would still give it another try because people seem to really dig them.

Food truck onsite (their own) & pizzas are made onsite too. The food looked really good though we didn't try any. We shared two pours (2-half pours) that were amazing. One was a sour which I don't normally like. This one, I liked. The table beer was perfectly refreshing on a hot summer day. Also had a hibiscus mint iced tea=yum. The beers are so special. Like the best of the best in craft beer world. Beers are made with water from their well and native wild yeast. The grains are locally sourced and certified organic. Other ingredients like fruit, herbs, etc. all come from Hill Country. You can absolutely taste the difference. Fantastic products and visit.
