We have gone to Hawks for the last time. The medium rare steak was dry and brown throughout. My wife's seafood was heavily salted. The wait staff was unsupportive. It's too bad because this was a good restaurant a couple years ago but something has changed over the last year and a half. Hawks is on the Michelin Guide. It is located at the Quarry Ponds Town Center, so there is plenty of parking. If you don't have reservations, you can try your luck at the bar. It was a bit noisy inside, but we were seated behind the bar. I was looking forward to trying the taro mocktail, but was told they no longer have that drink. I ended up with a cocktail instead. They have an extensive drink menu, but they are quite pricy. We were given bread and butter. I wish the butter was softer so that it would've been easier to spread. Then we were given a complimentary amuse-bouche. It was a shot of yummy mushroom soup. For my first course, I had the tombo tuna aguachile. It had a nice heat to it from the liquid. I also liked the cute mini fried tortilla that added a crunchy texture to the dish. I tried my bf's white dog farms beet salad. The beets were great and I enjoyed the roasted cashew butter it came with. I had the lobster and burrata girelle (lasagna roll) for my entree. It was beautifully plated and there was a good amount of lobster. We were too full for dessert, but were given pate de fruits and chocolate bon bons to help us celebrate our anniversary. The three of us had the tasting menu on December 30, 2025. It was beyond delicious- the small servings were perfect given there were so many of them. I cannot recommend the tasting menu enough. Also, the service was so attentive and made the dinner even that much better. We spent just under 3 hours enjoying one of the best dinners in all of Sacramento/South Placer County. We went to Hawk's for the first time on Christmas Eve. The food was delicious and elegantly presented. We thoroughly enjoyed the set menu that the restaurant had prepared for that evening. Our server was very attentive and answered all our questions as we enjoyed the different courses and wine pairings. The restaurant is very elegant inside, but friendly enough that children were comfortable being there Christmas Eve. My wife and I have dined at Hawk's in the dining room more than a dozen times and another 8-10 times in the bar. We have gone to Hawk's as a couple, and in groups of 4-12. Each time, our experience has been excellent in all respects: food, beverages, service, and atmosphere. We have always been seated promptly. Once seated, a waiter/waitress comes by promptly to take our beverage order and offer bread. The food has always arrived at an appropriate pace for our needs, and promptly, considering the amount of work that goes into the dishes. The preparation of the food had always been excellent. Perhaps most memorable are the soups. The wild mushroom soup we had at Hawk's is the best soup I have ever had anywhere (restaurant or home cooking). The short rib dish is ridiculously delicious. The Red Kuri Squash Agnolotti dish was possibly the best pasta dish I have had anywhere, and I have dined in Parma and Bologna. Hawk's specialty cocktails are creative and I rate them 10/10. The staff are extremely professional and knowledgeable, including waiters/waitresses, bartenders, and the two managers we have spoken with. I can't think of another restaurant in the greater Sacramento area that has such excellent service. Even though we have high expectations at Hawk's price point, somehow the staff manages to surprise us in a good way on occasion. Their server, Cassandra, is the best server I have ever interacted with. In fact, I see that she is given accolades in others' Yelp reviews. The physical space is comfortable, tastefully appointed, and the noise level is not intrusive. I find the Hawk's dining experience to be close enough to perfection that I have difficulty imagining what I would suggest for improvement. read more

We're so happy we chose Hawks to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Our server, Mike was excellent. He had the foresight to have my Caesar salad turned into a chopped salad, making it easier for me to eat with a bum arm. Mr. S totally enjoyed his potato gnocchi. Being a duck fan, I ordered the Liberty Duck Confit. It was excellent and I particularly liked the pickled peaches on the side. He had the truffle mushroom cheeseburger and fries. I can say the fries were perfectly cooked crispy on the outside soft on the inside. I washed it down with one of the specialty cocktails, the Big Lebowski. This was the perfect light choice to go with my meal. When we arrived just after opening, there were already several tables filled. By the time we left the place was packed and getting a bit noisy. All tables have white cloth covers I even seen a young man, Ironing one of them with a cordless iron. I have to say this is definitely fine dining . This restaurant is considered French /American . It's a must try. The steak was so tender, that it practically didn't require a knife. The mushroom sauce, was a perfect accompaniment. The house made gnocchi is mouthwatering deliciousness, that will make you crave more. For dessert, we shared the Hawks Bar. It's like a snickers bar, but kicked up several notches. I went one hour early to bring balloons (3) small, I specifically spoke with hostess and said we were celebrating our 24 year olds promotion, he has never been to Hawks (we live in Granite Bay so very close) could we have a nice table in main dining area and if she could put gift and balloons on table. I drove home, got ready we come back, we are know where in the main dining room, we are tucked away in some side room, with one table occupied, no ambiance whatsoever, in the CORNER with heavy drapery behind us as the backdrop. I went back to the front and said this will not do. They said well the balloons are not allowed on the table so we had to put you back there because of the balloons. WELL why did someone not tell me that when I dropped them off an hour before? So then I was told to go back to the table and wait there, until they could find the 3 of us a table. RUDE. We were loyal Hawks clients for many years. That being said, they're doing something rather bizarre with their add on costs. Per their website: "A 3% charge is added by the restaurant to all checks in an effort to provide competitive wages for our Heart of House staff, the talent preparing your meals. If you have any reservations regarding this voluntary surcharge, please let your server know and we will remove the 3% surcharge from your check." We usually spend three or four hundred dollars when we're there and we only go there for special occasions. I find this 3% charge "odd". Why can't they manage to use $12.00 to pay their employees a "competitive wage"? Why would they underpay so much they have to resort to an add on fee on top of a gratuity? It's rather silly and in our case, they've lost a customer. read more

I called them before to make a reservation for two and then when I was on my way I called them to ask because one other friend was coming with us so I asked them to add one more person to the reservation and the host was very friendly. The menu looked beautiful and there was another menu for a prix fixe menu which honestly I wish we got it! First they served the complimentary bread and butter and they also served this complimentary soup in a small glass, I think it's the wild mushroom soup but i'm not sure, nonetheless, it was delicious! If you want an amazing fine dining experience, Hawks is the place to go. They have everything down to the littlest details and they make most of their food in house including their sauces. Our waiter spent the time to explain each dish and how they prepared it, what flavors to expect, etc. Pros: the plating is superb, everything was beautifully presented. My favorite was the gnocchi, full of flavor and each bite was savory and enjoyable. Every dish I tried, I loved. I appreciated that they served little pallet cleansers between each dish so we could get the most flavor out of the next dish. It is definitely a dining experience where you take the time to really taste and enjoy each dish. A very relaxed and upscale experience, which I highly recommend. Cons: none. My husband and I came to Hawks in Granite Bay for the very first time with some friends of ours. We made a reservation and from start to finish, it was truly a remarkable experience. The service is top notch and I can see why this restaurant is a wonderful choice for an anniversary, or a special celebratory meal. We started with two orders of their seasonal gnocchi. My friend informed me that they always have gnocchi on the menu, but the flavor profile rotates, depending on the season and the ingredients. The gnocchi we enjoyed had a delicious pesto sauce. It was perfectly cooked and pillowy and melted in your mouth. For my entrée, I opted for a lobster ravioli that they had on special, which was absolutely delicious while my husband opted for their pork chop. We also split a Cesar salad. Again, the meal was perfectly balanced, and well thought out with beautiful presentation and execution. And finally, for dessert, we had the most delicious beignets with homemade salted caramel sauce. If I could drink the salted caramel sauce that came with the beignets, I would. No shame. My fiancé and I typically enjoy evenings at Hawks, especially sitting at the bar where we've always appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and engaging conversations with the bartenders and fellow patrons. Unfortunately, our experience last night didn't live up to the high standards we've come to expect. During our visit, another guest chose to take a FaceTime call on speaker while seated at the bar. We politely asked if he could take the call outside, and he did end the call. However, what surprised us most was the bartender's reaction--rather than supporting our reasonable request, he seemed to take issue with it and defended the disruptive behavior. While we understand there may not be a formal policy about cell phone use, especially in the bar area, there's a level of courtesy and ambiance that one typically expects at an upscale restaurant like Hawks. Taking a loud video call at the bar disrupts that environment for everyone. We've always viewed Hawks as a go-to for refined dining and excellent service, which made this encounter all the more disappointing. Up until the bartender made his comment, we were having a truly wonderful evening--the food, drinks, and overall setting were exactly what we've always loved about Hawks. It's because everything else was so enjoyable that this interaction felt especially out of place. We hope it was an isolated incident, but we wanted to share our experience in the spirit of honest feedback. read more

All I can say is wow no I can say double wow. Chef out himself last night we had a spectacular dinner that was only made better by the excellent service our way to provide it. Our appetizers or over the top with the Aji tuna tartare, and the beef tartare. Our guests had never had either before and were hesitant to try it but once I made a small serving for them, they went back for seconds and thirds I thought we would have to order another one of each. I would be remiss if I did not give a huge shout out to Mark. There wine Sommelier His expertise knowledge and suggestions were right on target it didn't hurt. That is a extremely nice person. Had such a wonderful experience here at Hawks on a lovely Sunday evening. Our server Cassandra was excellent and really made us feel our small celebratory dinner amongst friends was the perfect balance of elegance, jovial energy, and sharing delicious food. Dishes were absolutely perfectly made - the gnocchi and tuna tartare were delicate and not overly sauced. The trout and short rib were so perfectly balanced with great flavors and accompanying vegetables/starches that they were truly delicious. Great recommendations by our server, all wonderful. Drinks were tasty. Good cocktail menu. Good scotch selection. Parking is very easily accessible in the adjacent lot. Very easily accessible in Roseville/Granite Bay area. Wouldn't have guessed this place was so great just driving by. Overall prices are definitely on the higher side, so it's more of a celebratory/fancy occasion type of place.
