New flatbreads are great! Shamrock slushy was delicious - look forward to coming back!

Oh, this is a fun place! We were visiting cousins in CT and they told us we were going to a winery for a tasting experience. We enjoy that, so we were happy to agree! We packed a picnic lunch, but we figured we'd either eat and then do the tasting or vice-versa. But they do it differently here, and it's really great. There are tables indoors and out. It was a somewhat overcast and very breezy day, so we opted for an inside table. It was midweek, so not as crowded as they apparently get on the weekends. We put down our lunch stuff and went to the counter. There, you take a menu. Buy a glass, buy a bottle, or do a tasting. They also sell some food, so bring your own, buy theirs, or a little bit of both! The tasting is $15. for 6 pours, 1 of each of 6 wines you choose from the menu. It says each pour is 1 1/2 ozs. Each comes in a container resembling a test tube, lidded and numbered in the order you checked on the menu, so you'll know what you're tasting. You get a souvenir wine glass to pour into, and at the end you can exchange the used one for a clean one to take with you. We had great fun tasting as we ate our lunch. Of course, buy a bottle before you leave. But there's no pressure to do so. Enjoy! L'chaim! Slainte! Cheers!

I recently visited Hawk Ridge Winery and really enjoyed the experience. The drive was a bit far for me, but it was worth it. For just $15, you get a flight of different wines plus a souvenir glass with their logo -- such a nice touch and honestly unheard of these days! What I loved most was the atmosphere: You can rent tables under tents and bring your own food, or purchase food right there, which makes it flexible and fun. There was also live music, wine slushies (highly recommend!), and an overall relaxed, welcoming vibe. I also noticed families with kids, which was refreshing -- it felt like a place where everyone could come together, not just wine lovers. Between the setting, the music, and the value, it makes for a really great outing. I'd definitely go back.

Hawk Ridge is one of my absolutely favorite wineries and for good reason! Very reasonable prices, delicious wine and scenic/ green views all around. Perfect for a fall activity (plus they have a hosting space so you can def reserve a section to throw a party!). Would recommend starting with the wine tasting (they are known for their white wines) and then getting a bottle to share! Staff is friendly, portions are generous and overall a great time! Make sure to bring your own snacks and other items (blanket, sunglasses, jacket etc)

Came here for the first time and it was amazing! Ordered the white wine flight and a apple cider wine slushy! Loved everything I ordered! Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff! Scenery was gorgeous! Also they are Dog friendly and wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. Definitely will be back in the future. Even bought 2 bottles to go! I bought the sky high which was my favorite one and the tail spin white :) very enjoyable place!

Probably THE best winery I've ever been too. The wine was flavorful, not over powering, yet subtle enough with the perfect punch on your taste buds. The outdoor seating area with views of the mountains and foliage were breathtaking and a great way to relax and enjoy the sunset. I usually only take 1 bottle to go from other places, here I took 3!!! I will definitely come back! And dogs are welcome Great time as always, especially on a Friday night! Not too many people, enough space, great sunset, flavorful wine (Shake Your Tail Feather) and a cozy atmosphere...BUT I waited 45 minutes for fried dough I ordered the pumpkin slushie and the fried dough combo for a festive treat. I would have saved the effort if I knew the kitchen was backed up.

I was in the state visiting family and we decided to check out a winery. We decided on this place and glad we did. It is so serene, spacious and relaxing. Beautiful property, plenty of free parking space. They offer inside and outside seating areas. Pets are welcomed. You can bring your own food. We tried the Soaring Hawk White Sangria and it easily so refreshing and delicious. We were able to sample a few others as well. Also, we tried the Fireworks slushie, I thought it would be sweet but surprisingly it was not, I liked it. Overall, a good place to check out on a beautiful evening with your significant other, your girls friends or as little family outing.

Enjoyed the location. Have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Great place to meet a friend or for small groups. Friendly staff. Got a wine flight, and you get to keep the glass (it's a part of your fee). Wines were just okay. I'm not sure any of the wines are grown on site, which is part of the draw of a vineyard for me. Only had the pretzel (with wine cheese and mustard; the mustard is delicious), but the rest of the food menu looked tasty, and I'd be interested in coming here to explore more options. For food, you place your order at the bar, and they text or call you. Gave it a 4/5 for the venue and food, not the wine.

I totally forgot to write a review on Hawk Ridge Winery. I went back in October for my birthday. Hawk Ridge Winery is located in Watertown, Connecticut, a peaceful farm setting, in which to enjoy friends, family, and delicious wine. I was able to bring my own table and some appetizers for my birthday guest, which is allowed, but the appetizers cannot be on platters. I put my charcuterie items in a snack ziplock bag and brought my own platter dish wear. The atmosphere was beautiful and the wine slushes we're delicious. The lines to the bar were long but went by smoothly and fast. There were a couple of food trucks there selling a variety of food from pizza, barbecue, and other assortment of food items. It was a great day to enjoy the atmosphere and my birthday with my friends and family with delicious appetizers and drinks. I would definitely come back on a summer day to enjoy the scenery, great friends and family, and definitely a wine slushy.

I love coming up here - good wine with serene views. I love that you can bring your own food, but sometimes you don't have time for all that. They have enhanced their offerings with food options and you might think food at a winery can't possibly be that great, that's surely what I thought! The best part of coming here is that they offer GREAT food options at affordable prices! And I can still bring whatever snacks I desire to hang out on the lawn.

Came here with coworkers and we really enjoyed our time. It was a beautiful April sunny Friday afternoon and the views, the wine and food were great. I loved that they have food options like Margherita pizza, truffle fries and more. There's plenty of seating and service was attentive and friendly. They come around and dispose of any trash you might have although there's plenty of trash cans that you can dispose yourself as well. Make sure to bring your ID as they check.

This place has something for everyone. You can sit inside, or out on the large porch, out back underneath the enormous pavilion, in an enclosed gazebo, or outside on an adirondack chair, at a picnic table, or on the soft green grass. They have a lovely selection of wines (of course ), alcoholic slushies, an assortment of beers, bottled water and more. You are allowed to bring your own food but not beverages for obvious reasons. There is often live music from local musicians which is and added bonus. Bathrooms are located inside the establishment along with outdoor porto potties. There is plenty of parking and space to roam. The views are beautiful no matter which side of the property you are on. There are views of the impressive vineyard, grassy hill, and lush treetops. The only things that missing are hammocks. I highly recommend Hawk Ridge. It's such a great place to relax and have a great time.

This is my second visit at the winery and I still do really enjoy this place. There are plenty of tables for seating indoors both upstairs and downstairs so you could distance yourself from others. It is beautiful and has some lovely wine and beer options and the service is great. You order your drinks and food at the bar and food is brought to your table after seating. This was my first time trying their food and I have to say it was okay. It was obvious the pizza served to us was a frozen pizza, but the sandwich wasn't too bad. Just a basic chicken sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a mayonnaise spread. Although, I have heard that some of their dips and appetizers are good so maybe I just picked the wrong items. The wine slushy was good though - if you are a fan of Pinot Grigio you will love it. Their wines (which are their main focus) have always been great.

Ask the Community - Hawk Ridge Winery

Do they allow people to bring in and set up their own pop up tent shelters outside on the lawn? I am looking to set up a 10'x10' one during an upcoming visit but have not been able to reach anyone there via the phone to ask them this question.

I believe if you call first u should be fine they are very accommodating

Is there a food menu, are the offerings more snacky or could we do lunch?

They do have a food menu. It's appetizer heavy, charcuterie boards and similar table fare that pairs well with wine. Additionally they have flatbreads and a few sandwich options and a salad option. Far beyond "snacks". Definitely lunch friendly! But… Read more

Is this winery family friendly, are children allowed?

Yes! Of course. We take our three year old frequently. You'll see a lot of families here on the weekend.

Are there packages for tasting? I.e. wine and cheese

To my knowledge they don't at this time, but what they already offer on their menu they will make recommendations. You can try to call and ask them what kinds of cheese would go well with their wine so you can pick some up before you head there.

Can you bring your own food?

    Yes

How much do their wines cost per a bottle?

I believe the Sangria is $20, so anywhere between $20-$30

    Do they allow dogs?

Yes! Dogs are allowed on the lawn and in our tent as long as they are leashed.

Aquila's gives a 30-minute grace period, which helped since the area gets very dark at night and the roads are narrow. I knew ahead of time there would be a lobster food truck and a live salsa band. When you arrive, you check in with the hostess, though there's no clear hostess stand since she's stationed at the end of the bar. The inside was crowded with no available seats, but we weren't there for the band anyway. Our igloo had a heater, but two would've been ideal. They recommend bringing a blanket, which I forgot, but it wasn't too cold--around the high 40s. We tried the "Sweet Wine Flight," which included Sparkling Rosé, Moscato, and white and red wine slushies. The white wine slushy was my favorite. It started raining while we were there, and everyone with fire pits cleared out, so I was extra glad we chose an igloo. They offered a cheese box, but it looked too small, so we stuck to drinks. Our server was polite and brought everything out quickly. Reservations give you two hours, and we had a great time. I like the variety of reservation options they offer. For suggestions: it would be nice to have a real charcuterie board instead of tiny cheese and veggie boxes. The indoor space could also be larger, especially for people coming for the live band, and there are no seats around the bar. Overall, though, it's a cozy spot, and I enjoyed the experience.

Pulling up was like driving into someone else's backyard at first. But don't let that sway you, this is a marvelous gem of a winery. Their Red Table wine is like a milder Cab with a clean finish, enough to eat with a meal or sipping. I'm not into white but the Gertrude wasn't sweet at all, in fact all of their wines are quite dry, even their Rose. We've been many CT wineries, with Hopkins and Stonington Vineyards being the best, the wine quality approaches what these more established places deliver. The venue is intimate, it's small, ie, 50-60 people would fill up most of the seating in the barn/deck, but there an outside seating area adjacent that peeps walk past and aren't aware of. There were maybe 25 people there and it was fine. Parking could be tight if busy, but I suspect very few people know of this place. Owners were very nice, and love talking about their wines. Jim especially. Note no food, other than a cheese box which was good, but you can bring your own... I'd give it 5 stars but felt the flight serving pour was a bit small. Def on our list to visit again.
