You can use this stuff of anything, beef, pork, chicken, sauces, dressings, etc. Possibilities are endless and you can buy it at most grocery stores. I think you can buy the big jug at Costco & Sams. I also like their Kimchee products. It is not as spicy as other kimchees but it is just right - local style. Its good to eat with everything especially on hot rice.

The food is homemade, authentic as you'll get on Oahu, reasonably priced for the portion size, and freaking delicious! I've had the carne asada taco plates (momma's homemade flour tortillas and the standard corn tortilla) with all the sides- rice/refried beans/elote esquites, sopa loca (the spicy ramen soup with meat, cheese, all kinds of fun fixins), flautas, quesadilla, BYO burrito, breakfast burritos, cheesecake dipped cones, churro cheesecake bites, tres leches (birthday cake, cookie butter- pro tip is to drink the liquid milk mix on the bottom so yum OR dip a cookie in there to sop it all up... I will try the latter one next time, I just thought of it), Mila's lemonade, strawberry pound cake jar, and the addicting Dubai cookie. Food is so good and soul-satisfying that I've sent my husband to pick up orders right after he gets back from an inter-island commute (H3 is right there)! Trust me, you cannot go wrong with anything. We eat it as soon as possible because she makes her stuff fresh and that's how you get the best experience! My sister & I drove out to Aiea to look for their store in March because we wanted to buy more. It's a small place, inside a large building, but it was so worth the trip! We bought the ground alternative beef but also the taco mix (easy peasy to make!). Let me tell you, after eating the taco mix, I went online to order a bunch of the various meat alternatives! And with time to kill I am slowly but surely making my way through all the vendors that inhabit this huge space. Mostly out of boredom, rather than necessity, but I'm doing my best to keep an open mind. Amongst the many food options there lies in a corner, the Alex Vegetable Stand. They offer a decent variety of fresh veggies which you'd see at any farmer's market. These days its pretty difficult for me to make it to the farmer's market so it's nice to have a convenient way to buy veggies for my little family. The one big downside is that most of their produce isn't locally grown. I'd prefer to buy local because it tastes better and is makes less of an impact on the environment. The other oddity that you'll notice at Alex Vegetable Stand are the multitude of posters with asian airbrushed women staring at you. I regularly buy papaya, apple banana, basil, onion, garlic, and ginger. The stand even has fresh papaya salad for $5.00. Just note that the shops regular hours may not be the true hours. On day I asked the lady what time she opens and she told me at 9:00am-5pm but she said not exact because she comes from Waianae so sometimes 9:30am. Also on a Sunday I visited at 4:45 pm and it was already closed.

I went in and stood in line. There were a few people ahead of me so it wasn't too busy. There were 2 women working- one was doing the food and the other was the cashier. As I was standing in line I noticed there were flies in the hot food- however, the chicharron was in its own case that was enclosed and I made sure no flies were in there. When it was my turn the woman who was doing the food didn't even want to acknowledge me. I had to tell the cashier that I wanted one lb of chicharron, then she literally told the food lady right next to her what I wanted. I paid almost $20.00 for one lb of chicharron but the worst part is that food woman didn't even cut it up for me! I literally came home with a slab that I have to cut up myself, all good though. I had to inspect the pork throughly anyways to make sure there were no fly eggs. I absolutely don't recommend this place. Bad service and flies in the hot food area.
