This morning, I swapped the winter tires (already mounted on separate rims) onto my wife's car at home. One of the tires was completely flat; had a leak along the bead. So I knew it needed to be remounted and balanced. I called up TW, and Walter said they could squeeze me in because of the urgent nature of my wife needing the car for travel. And this despite their heavy workload with all the winter changeovers this time of year. They got me right in and taken care of quickly. Most surprising, they didn't charge me, even though I hadn't bought the tires and wheels there. "You're a regular, don't worry about it." I'm not promising that they would do that for every customer. But I feel it's indicative of their overall approach to business.

I explained my car is not AWD it is FWD and they have switched the exact same tires on the exact same vehicle last year. The Manager said "well, actually one of the treads on one of my tires is worn and I would have to buy a new tire." So I asked are you saying you can't switch my tires because there is a worn tread on one of the tires or because you believe my car is AWD. He said "well it says AWD when I look it up." I got the sense they just didn't want to do the tire switch. I made a complaint to the General Store Manager. She said she was going to be sure the complaint was filed, but I seriously doubt it. Would strongly advise not going to the Hinsdale Walmart for any automotive reasons.

So I asked her to go to Tire Warehouse, where they confirmed as much, and patched it for nothing. Pretty sure they refused to charge her. Long story short I had the car towed to Kennett and Sons around 1 pm and I didn't expect to hear anything until tHe day after Christmas being that it was 1 pm on Xmas eve. At 230 I was told the car was ready. Couldn't believe it. The owner, Ricky, explained that the engine was basically flooded with fuel from the auto start not working. He said it took him 15 minutes to remove the plugs and remove excess fuel. When I asked what I owed him said, " Nothing". Merry Xmas to me I guess. Thanks again Ricky. I read the other review and agree the shop isn't much to look at but then again either Is the one I take my car to in New Jersey and I trust the mechanic there too.

They completed my car inspection very quickly and charged what I felt was a reasonable price. They offered good advice on car maintenance and weren't too pushy with up-selling. They wen tout of their way to help me with another car problem even though they wouldn't necessarily make money off of it. Overall: This wouldn't be my first choice as a recommendation, and I definitely felt uncomfortable just standing in the shop (wouldn't go anywhere NEAR the couches). However the friendly demeanor that slowly appeared throughout my time chatting with the workers changed my mind a bit. This definitely would have been a 1-star review if not for the guys helping me out in the end.
