We noticed a screw in the front tire of my mom's car. AAA changed it and she went to Brattleboro Tire to have it patched. An easy fix! She went in on her own- and is older, so seemingly naive, right? DAN told her it was in the sidewall and that she needed FOUR new tires (not just two for the front). Her tires weren't old at all. She ordered them for arrival and told me what had transpired. Well, I just knew that screw was not in the sidewall. It was nowhere NEAR! So I asked her to go to Tire Warehouse, where they confirmed as much, and patched it for nothing. Pretty sure they refused to charge her. She canceled the tires Dan ordered, which turned out to be poor quality anyhow. What a disappointing experience. Shame on you, Dan!! read more

So I went on a road trip through New England. Loved visiting Vermont. Very beautiful state. While heading back south wrapping up my trip, about 20 miles north of Brattleboro, my car starts suffering some engine issues. I limp it into town late Sunday night and got a room. The next morning is a federal holiday and some of the places I called or visited didn't have enough staff to accommodate a drop in. I needed to be back in DC that night. These guys had a slot available for me later in the afternoon and got me in. Once the issue was diagnosed and parts ordered, they had me back on the road in short order. I did have to wait several hours for the slot in the afternoon but considering the circumstances, it's reasonable. The repair was quick and easy. The staff were friendly and courteous as well. And the bill wasn't nearly as much as I was anticipating. Good job guys. read more

Don't take your vehicle to Brattleboro Tire. I purchased a full set of new studded snow tires, and they permanently damaged my 2020 Chevy Silverado. While mounting my new tires, technician gouged and scratched my factory wheels by failing to adjust his wheel mounting equipment correctly. He permanently damaged my vehicle further by using a shallow socket on my lug nuts. Another customer in the waiting room complained they had failed to tighten his lug nuts correctly. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I brought my car there becasue engine light was on and ac did not work. They charged me $4500, and did nothing about check engine light. I did get charged $100 for a "shop fee" anyone knwo what that is? I now have an uninspectabe car and no more car money. This is the VERY shortened version of the story...this place is morally bankrupt, they do not care if they leave you in a dangerous situation. Took my 2011 Subaru Outback in for a front end alignment in January 2023, four months later both font tires were showing the steel belts on the inner section of both tires, called Brattleboro Tire three times to have them check their work, was told I would have to wait two weeks to get my vehicle in, finally went to another shop, had to replace the tires, had the alignment checked and it was all screwed up, shop owner stated that he gets a lot of rework from Brattleboro Tire, from alignments done wrong to brake jobs that weren't done, but Brattleboro Tire charged for the work. I'm going in person to Brattleboro Tire this week to confront the manager and demand my money back and cost of new tires or I'll file a suit against them. read more

I had the displeasure of paying Brattleboro tire $50 today just to be told I had a rusty break rotors and they would not inspect my car. (Mind you this is a 2019 with about 40k miles on it.) While I will not argue that there may be rust on the rotors the fact that they were more than willing to offer me a full brake inspection (and I am sure sell me new rotors.) seems suspect. Here is the verbiage from the state of Vermont: -The vehicle fails inspection "if more than a 1/2 inch of rust (cumulative per braking surface) exists on any contact surface of the rotor/drum." The manual would define rust more clearly as "swelling, delamination or pitting." I didn't have the patience or the time to sit and discuss the extent of the rust on the rotors, but I can assure you I will never give them another dime of my money and I wouldn't suggest or recommend that you do either. read more

Like the previous reviewer, the pattern I've seen with this shop isn't good. I never got a very good vibe any time I went there, but the most recent time I went in (as a last resort) takes the cake. I was having grinding/squealing noise coming from the rear passenger brake drum. It was obviously some type of 'rotational' noise. The pads themselves had been changed within the last year, so that wasn't the culprit. It ended up being quite a difficult thing to diagnose. So instead of calling me up and telling me they can't figure it out, they try to say that it needs a bushing, at an estimated cost of $400+. This didn't set right with me, so I called up my regular mechanic (see my other reviews if you'd like to find a reputable shop) to get his opinion. It didn't set right with him, either. So I forked over around $40 for their lame "diagnosis", and took it to my regular shop. Turns out the bushings were just fine. They spent 3+ hours diagnosing and working on the drum, eventually grinding off enough material from the inside to clear up the noise. Had I gone with Brattleboro Tire's recommended repair, I would have been out $400-$500, and I still would have had the obnoxious grinding/squealing noise. My previous encounters with Bratt Tire usually involved state inspections. They always managed to find a light that was out, even when I was driving a car that had an in-dash indicator for faulty lights. (It seemed just a little suspect how my center brake light could go out between the last time I looked down at the speedometer, and the point at which they had my car pulled into their bay.) Then they charge $10+ for a bulb and $10+ to replace it (a 2 minute job) so it will pass inspection. Any other mechanic I've been to has never charged labor for replacing a bulb, unless it's a particularly tricky one. Bottom line, I hope to never step foot in this establishment again. It's just not worth the headaches. read more

My one and only experience here was really good. I was driving from Rhode Island to meet friends for a few days of camping last 4th of July weekend. Blew a tire on Rte 91 at about 4:30pm. Found these folks based on a recommendation from an auto parts store down the road. This was Friday afternoon. The donut spare was not going to get me where I needed to go. Pulled in to BT about 4:45. They replaced 2 tires for me at a reasonable price ($180 for 2 good-quality tires,counting tax,installation,yadayada)),and had me out of there by 5:15. They saved my a**. Terrible Tire Balancing... (and deceit) I drive long distances on the interstate and am very careful to have my tires balanced well. In this instance I swapped wheels one at a time to isolate a vibration and I took the poorly balanced tire in to have it rebalanced. This requires a lot of work on my part. Dan reluctantly "checked it" and brought it back saying it was fine although he had added a weight to balance it. I noticed the additional weight and mentioned it and when caught in a lie he told me that most people wouldn't even notice it. No apology and I felt dismissed out of hand. So this is not just incompetence, it's dishonest. What a terrible place. read more

Every time I take my car here to have my snows put on or taken off, these jerks tell me there is all sorts of dire stuff wrong with my car. Then they quote me an absurd price to fix the problem. The best was when they told me that my axle boot was cracked and that the bearings were going to seize "any second now." This was not quite two weeks after having the entire bearing assembly replaced by my regular mechanic. ...Five years later, my car is miraculously still rolling. Additionally, in the last 5 years, the only real maintenance that I have had to do on the car is replace two struts, despite being given all sorts of unsolicited and dire prognosis' by these jokers. Dan and his crew at Brattleboro Tire are AWESOME!!! We limped into town with our VW Camper Van with barely enough power to make it through the mountains. It was just by luck at 3:30pm on Labor Day Friday we found this shop (and still open). We were convinced we would be spending the holiday weekend in Brattleboro. Dan was compassionate and with a smile diagnosed and repaired our van by 5pm and at a reasonable price! We were back on the road to continue our vacation. Good guys!! read more

The first man I interacted was okay. I explained I had just left work and forgot my wallet at home, but had a check. He said that was fine. The man to cashed me out entered all of my info as a cash transaction, when all I had was check so I stood around for an additional 10 minutes while he tried to re-enter all of the info into the system, which is fine. this normally wouldn't bother me, but the way he treated me once I explained I had no ID with my check (which should have been noted by the first guy, when I explained I didn't have my wallet with me!) was completely unacceptable. I would have been perfectly fine with not having the work done on my car had they said from the beginning that they would not accept my check without ID. Once the man re-entered all of my info and accepted my check with no ID. He asked for my phone number and I apologized for the inconvenience and he mumbled something along the lines of " yup, talk to you when it bounces". Totally unacceptable! I should have made him take my car right back into the bay and take the tires off right then and there! I am half tempted to just bounce the check to burn his ass!
