Where do I even start!? The short version of this review if you're looking for an amazing salon…read morethat glows with caring and professional staff this is the place for you! Okay, long version. About three days ago I decided I wanted to cut my hair after not getting it cut in over a year. My first choice was Salon La Vogue after I saw their other reviews and checked out some of their pictures here on yelp. I called in to see if I could get an appointment for as soon as possible. Right away from my conversation on the phone I knew I had found the right place. I expressed my concerns about my hair and what sort of hair I had which was met with understanding and reassuring answers, so I booked an appointment! Today when I walked in I was greeted by, literally, everyone working there. For someone who is always nervous about getting my haircut this was amazing! Gabby was my stylist who listened to what I wanted and even went as far as to talking me through how to style my hair after I leave the salon. Needless to say I could say so many glowing things but I'll keep it to this; this salon is a hidden gem that is worth a worlds worth of praise. I 100% recommend booking an appointment here, I can say for myself I can't wait to go back a check out the number of other services they have to offer!

I'm sorry to say that this one was a BIG fail for me. I went to their new location in Ambler and…read moretook my 5 year old daughter as well for one of her biggest cuts since birth (over 8 inches cut). I thought we could go together, since she was nervous and I needed gray root coverage and a good new cut/style anyway. We saw two different stylists and sat next to each other at the salon. My cut: I had asked for long layers and some shape and to please not use a razor edge to feather the layers (I personally don't care for that method or how that looks on me - I much prefer more blunt-cut layers) The junior stylist I had had no clue how to do anything but the feather/razor edge for layers, and basically acted like there was literally no other possible way to achieve a long layered cut. We went back back-and-forth for 10 minutes with her looking utterly confused at what I was suggesting. (I've had other cut methods hundreds of times. I was confused at her confusion.) She told me she's been out of school less than a year. I simply couldn't get through to her, so I gave in and had her basically just give me a boring blunt cut instead. The color she gave me was darker than I asked too, plus I left with dark marks around my face! My stylist was kind - I'm really not trying to say she wasn't, but she wasn't very warm or personable either. She seemed extremely young and checked out. My daughter's cut was the more heartbreaking one for me. She had gorgeous hair down to her bottom and we finally decided to give it a really good cut (tired off nightly tangles). It took the other gal under 10 minutes and it was completely uneven (see pic). I had to take her somewhere else to get it fixed. :( She was kind enough too but not very great with kids. Do not bring a kiddo here (I thought maybe a "real salon" would give her a better cut despite not being targeted to kids. I was wrong.) I'm really bummed because I had a lot of high hopes for this place opening up in Ambler and for finally finding a good stylist for both me and my daughter, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. The value for what I paid is really shocking to me. To pay $250 for one cut/color with a junior stylist and one child's cut and both were this bad is super disappointing.

The stylist even apologized *while* I was still in the chair, admitting she had cut it too short. Another stylist was brought over to "fix it," but it only made things worse. I tried to be polite, but the truth is my hair is now damaged, not blended, and just... ruined. This wasn't a miscommunication -- I was very clear about wanting a trim. I now have to find ways to grow my hair out fast before a major event, which is extremely frustrating. I would not recommend this salon to anyone who values attention to detail or listening to what the client actually asks for.

Once PA was approved for small gatherings, we adjusted our plans to meet the state's standards (so went from a large ceremony and reception, to a very small outdoor ceremony with immediate family only). We were so fortunate with all the vendors we had selected, they were all amazing, flexible, and understanding. They turned what could have been a stressful ordeal into an absolutely perfect day. Meraki was no exception. The owner was so accommodating to the last minute changes we needed to make. She was willing to work with me, my mom, and my sisters so we could still look beautiful for the ceremony! Our hair was absolutely stunning and stayed in place all day (we all have very fine, straight hair so that in and of itself was an accomplishment!). They also adhered to all the state safety standards to make sure we all felt safe and comfortable during our appointment. We are planning to use them again next year for our very delayed reception!
