Intentionally having me come in to tell me the appointment is canceled when they could have called me is blatantly disrespectful and bad business practice. I had made the appointment two days before and was sent a confirmation email and text, which I replied yes to and confirmed a day beforehand. To add insult to injury, when the stylist was asked why she didn't call me to cancel, she claimed she wanted to be respectful and tell me in person! Take your business elsewhere. Reply to business manager: The appointment could have been cancelled beforehand, and there were ample opportunities to do so, including when I checked in at the frontdesk. I was told that it was "more respectful to tell me in person". Why disrespect my time and make me come in, wait 10 minutes, and then sit me in the barber chair to tell me that my appointment is cancelled? It's simply bad business practice.

While Bostonian's charme is in the barbers' entertaining manly dirty talk and Roosters is known for its luxurious, formal appearance of shop and employees, IMHO, this shop strikes the golden middle between the two. Peter, the manager / main barber, is a master of his art, took 1.5h for my first visit, 1h after opening hours, on a Sunday, and created one of the best beard and hair looks I ever had. Including a greatly honest consultation, talking me out of my idea to grow my hair shoulders long based on my hair structure and what would look good on me. he had a nice collection of photos from his Instagram profile which greatly helped us navigate our style planning and the outcome was even better than I expected. My husband first started going here to get his hair cut because he couldn't stand the gum chewing bimbos with all the loud music at all the other hair salons in town. He convinced me to try out Sydney's after my former stylist was put in rehab. My husband's pitch "I've seen woman come in looking like hags and leave looking stunning." Now that's an endorsement for a salon! Though I color it (shh, don't tell anyone) and have been for 20+ years, my hair is healthy and shiny and credit Michael for keeping it looking fabulous.
