This is probably our 4th time visiting this restaurant and it has always been excellent. I had the BT Chicken, which was delicious. I had ordered the Pesto Shrimp but the pesto was a little overwhelming so our waitress offered to get me something else. The manager came out to let me know that they were preparing the BT Chicken I ordered for me and he apologized for the inconvenience. Crab dip and calamari were great too. Throughly enjoyed and we will absolutely revisit when we are in the area again. read more

Havana's has great food, great atmosphere and a great location. But the reason to go to Havana's is the service. We just got home from a 4 day trip to Carolina Beach, and we went to Havana's twice for dinner because of our amazing server- Lenarus (aka Lenny). He took such great care of us on our first night arriving at CB that we came back two days later just to hang out with Lenarus one more time. (We would have stopped in all three nights but he had a much deserved day off on Saturday). As we were leaving, we overheard others talking about how much they loved "Lenny" as well. He's clearly got a following! We will be back next year and we really hope that Lenarus still works at Havana's! read more

Havana's is a great spot for an upscale dinner. The drinks were delicious, volcano shrimp and the sirloin were well made and well cooked, and service was phenomenal. Would highly recommend it! read more

Review update. Went back and ordered the Scallops casino again huge price jump and parking is now $5 per hr! This time unfortunately some of the scallops had an ammonia smell. Not sure how they did not catch this in the kitchen. Everything else on the plate was great and my wife's meal was great as well. Was not compensated. Not every scallop was bad maybe 2 out of the 5. But even my wife smelled it across the table and we were outside. I didn't smell it until I bit into one. I should have stopped right away but it was the last 2 when I noticed. But everything else was so yummy and I was starving. I did not get sick and it's not gonna stop me from going back. Everything else was great. read more

Adorable house turned into a restaurant, beautiful landscaped & nice outdoor seating areas. The hostess was friendly & welcoming & sat our table of 8 immediately, Impressive for the 4th of July week. Great drinks,good seafood and a pleasant ambience make this a perfect dinner destination! We did not get to try their brunch but heard it was also excellent from locals in the Carolina Beach area. We had server Kate who was excellent, funny and knowledgeable about the area. Their hot crab dip with garlic toast points is EXCELLENT-I could eat this as a meal! They also have great margaritas and painkiller cocktails! For dinner, I had the Shrimp and scallop fettuccini (so good-scallops were served blackened style). My daughters had the duck and seafood lasagna-both very good, husband had the catfish which was a beautiful fat fillet, perfectly cooked! Visiting while on vacation. Dropped by here just after the lunch rush with a party of 9 after a trip to the aquarium down the road. Easily found parking right in front and were seated after a very short wait (staff put together a long table for us in the enclosed porch area). Waitress was absolutely wonderful--charming, patient, polite, personable and kind to all of us and especially towards the children. She gets 5-stars. I felt the food was pretty good--large portions, plating was simple, prices were fair. What I tried/had: French onion soup: really good/delicious. I normally do not like this dish but my husband had it and it smelled absolutely enticing so I had to have some. Not too salty, there were onions, pieces of bread and smothered in cheese on top. Even the children across the table wanted some. French quarter pasta: I was craving the pastalya from Rainforest Cafe and this hit the spot. It came with the *most* delicious smelling/tasting piece of grilled baguette. I was really happy with this dish (I chose well). Others in my party had: Havana's Fresh Catch: I think it was... mahi mahi? My in-laws each ordered this (one blackened, one carolina style). Was told that the blackened was tasteless, but the carolina style was good. The risotto was terrible--it was like mushy rice. Vegetables were meh. Crab-Stuffed Salmon: My husband had this, said it was good. I personally thought it looked a bit odd (basically a lump of crab cake placed on top of steamed salmon). Again, the risotto was terrible. Kids shrimp and fries: The children liked this, not much else to say. Kids pasta with parmesan sauce/cheese: my daughter did not like this, said it didn't taste like much of anything. So it looks like a hit-or-miss here. Havana's has a nice, relaxing ambiance. Restrooms are nice and clean. I would come here again--just stay away from the risotto and/or anything that seems lightly seasoned. read more

i want to start off by saying first of all the restaurant is beautiful had a nice outdoor bar & it was gorgeous! my friends and i clearly went on a busy night and had to wait roughly 30 mins for seating and ended outside where we got caught in a rain storm. luckily our waitress was amazing and did her best to accommodate us with a seat inside she was heaven sent and i could tell she was under loads of stress. the kitchen was backed up and food took a long time to be presented to our table one of my friends was almost done with her food before everyone else's food got to the table, for the price the food could've been a lot better but i really loved our waitress so upset i cant help remember her name but she made the experience so much better! read more

Beautifully landscaped outdoor eating area. We enjoyed a Havana mule. Appetizer of calamari was tasty. Dinner entrees were mixed reviews. Bison burger was rated 5 out of 5 including the fries. - but the blackened chicken in the baja salad and blackened mahi in tacos barely had any seasoning. We were excited to see banana foster on the menu... but disappointed. At first we thought the waitress waited to long to deliver - melted ice cream soup. WITH Covid cases UP 85% in New Hanover County, our server at Havana's and most of the staff- last night--WERE NOT WEARING FACE MASKS!!!!!! How rude, inconsiderate and thoughtless towards the customer. This virus is no joke and you never know who might be an asymptomatic carrier or how someone you expose might respond to the virus. It is also horribly inconsiderate towards the health care workers who have to deal with all the covid cases and risk themselves and their own families. Enjoyed lunch on New Year's Day. Although the restaurant wasn't opened quite yet, the staff let us in because it was still bitterly cold to wait outside. Four stars because the unsweetened iced tea was old, cloudy, and bitter tasting, so opted for a diet soda. The food was delicious, hot, fresh. We had the Boardwalk Salad and the Carolina Bison Burger. It's an upper scale restaurant at the beach, but was worth it for New Year's. read more

We arrived at around 645, asked for a table, and we were told it would be 30 minutes, so we waited at the lively bar. After 40 minutes, we checked on our table and were told ' I said it would be 30 to 45 minutes, and you're at 41 minutes.' So we waited some more at the bar. After an hour we ordered at the bar because the staff there was VERY helpful and attentive, and the food was delicious! When we left we told the desk we had been there two hours and were never called to be seated at a table. She had the nerve to say, 'I called you but you never responded!' The Bar staff was amazing, the food was delicious, just don't count on getting a table. While we were there, others got tables, we were terribly disappointed with the hosting staff. read more

Unfortunately, the drinks and food did not live up to their higher price point. The jalapeño margarita and the house mojito were just ok. The oysters Rockefeller were ok. This is right near the hotel so decided to come here for lunch. Didn't realize that on Sunday for lunch they have a buffet which is not super ideal while traveling solo with a baby. The staff was super super helpful and put everything on the plate for me and even asked if I needed help to my table. Tried practically everything from the buffet and think that although $25 is a bit steep, the variety on the buffet was pretty good. We had volcano shrimp, shrimp and grits, hash browns, eggs Benedict (unique flavor, really good), mahi mahi with mango slaw, bacon and this wasn't even all of it! Spending the day with some out-of-town friends and we had some difficulty finding a place open on a Monday (this was our third attempt!). Happily, third time was a charm, as from the moment we walked up it was a wonderful experience. A pleasant evening invited us to eat outside and the combination of quiet conversation, good music at just the right volume and great food had us all relaxed and feeling fine in no time. Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer with the Catch of the Day for myself had me ready for a hand cart to take me to the car (if only someone else could drive back to Leland!). Everyone was too busy munching and groaning to say much of anything once the entrees were served, but we all agreed that as great as the fish was (and it was exemplary), the manner in which the vegetables that accompanied the main dish were prepared seemed far and above better than anywhere I've been recently. I know what you're thinking, all is going great so far right? That's about the extent where the positives stop. With over 20 years experience in the industry my wife and I know a few things. With that knowledge we are usually super chill and understand certain nuances of the restaurant game where others may get frustrated. Horseradish tuna- poorly cut to begin with. Seared decent. Wasabi aioli Tasted good but was not given close to enough for the Tuna itself. The boiled carrots were barley cooked and might as well been raw baby carrots next to semi cold but aspired to be warm rice pilaf. "Top Sirloin" - was like a bad joke. Advertised as "incredibly tender" server asked for the temp implying no chef recommended temp. Wife and my oldest daughter went Medium Rare. Came out med well at best and legit was tougher to get through than the last season of Game of Thrones. Kid menu- high concept nonsense versus what kids actually want. Annie's microwavable instant cup of max and cheese is far superior to $10 bow tie pasta with watery cheese sauce. Which ironically my youngest hated but all of us ate because of how underwhelming our meal was. Basically- this was suppose to be the crown jewel dinner of our trip. It was SO disappointing we re allocated money back into the trip fund so we can forget the dining experience and try again elsewhere before we leave. Pro tip - save the $175 and invest in a family activity. You make better food all the time for dinner at home. read more
