If you don't know Rockland Bakery, you're not from Rockland County! Man, there is NOTHING bad…read morecoming out of this place! I unfortunately don't get down here nearly as often as I'd like, but I definitely help 'empty' their challah racks when I'm in the area! You grab a large brown paper bag, walk through the place and fill it with freshly made bagels and breads, and then pay what seems like some arbitrary low number they come up with while at checkout! When I was growing up, we'd go in here at 4-5 a.m. when returning from the city and purchase even 'fresher' bagels and breads if that's even imaginable! How you can still get this close to production and touch and take yourself is beyond me, but I don't care! I LOVE this place! Long live Rockland Bakery for never changing! FYI, Don't leave without ordering a few sweets from the bakery side! Again, you won't believe what you're paying for what you're getting!

Like anywhere, you gotta look for the good deals, and avoid the bad ones (there lox is overpriced..). There food tastes like any other bagel place, they aren't competing for a Michelin star, must be the other reviewer is missing some taste buds. The CC minimum is a common annoyance among all mom & pop shops, just add a muffin. Of note, they have recently trained new sales clerks that are doing a great job! Tip: order by phone and your stuff is usually ready when you get there (your mileage may vary).

The entrance is narrow with a wall to segregate the dining patrons from people coming in. On top of that they moved a refrigerator in to the walkway. All the Curbngo kiosk's are also in this walkway making the passage even tighter! Now for the food. We got pancakes and waffles last time. The pancakes were okay but the waffles were MOLDY! It seems like they are either making them ahead of time if they are selling pre made frozen waffles that they obviously don't know how to keep and reheat them. If we wanted frozen we could just get it from the local store. The whitefish sandwiches have more mayonnaise than actual whitefish. Same with the tuna. In an obvious attempt to cut costs the food has suffered and by extension so has service. We (my family and I) have decided that after four bad experiences we will not be making a fifth time. You are able to sit and eat at a wide variety of tables. The menu offers a ton of selection and tasty options. I ate here with my family this past Sunday; they all enjoyed their meals and felt the portions were generous and reasonable for the cost. I ordered one of their Philly cheesesteaks with extra additions for an additional cost. I was expecting to have to use hot sauce or request a sauce on the side. Man, was I proven wrong, and I am grateful I was. The steak in the Philly cheesesteak was beyond flavorful. The seasoning was truly remarkable. I loved how everything in the Philly cheesesteak complemented the rest. The Philly cheesesteak I ordered had steak, mushrooms, pepper jack cheese, onions, and jalapeño peppers. I added avocado and a sunny-side-up egg, and I had them substitute the bacon for turkey bacon for an additional cost. I asked the waitress to surprise me by putting it in a wrap or on bread. It was placed on bread and panini-pressed, which I was not expecting, although it just added to the flavor profile. I also asked the waitress to surprise me with a juice or smoothie since they were out of horchata for the day. I enjoyed guessing the ingredients of the juice, which contained oranges, beets, and carrots. I was shocked; however, it did not disappoint, since I enjoyed it. I ordered a side of onion rings as well, which came with BBQ and ranch; both sauces were pretty good. This was shocking since I am not a BBQ person. The onion rings without sauce were equally tasty, with a great crunch and crispiness. The owner was polite enough to give us complimentary fries on the house, which was very unexpected and kind. The fries were a crunchy, crispy, and fluffy delight. Overall, having a polite staff continuously checking in on us, having the opportunity to enjoy some really remarkable delicious food with so many great menu options, and the atmosphere feeling friendly and family-oriented, I am looking forward to the next visit.
