Nice bagel and deli located right next to a major chain sandwich shop. Personally I always steer toward local vs large chain and this was the right move. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was mad fresh while I waited, no re-heating of ingredients. Great choice if you are looking for fresh. read more

Easily the worst bagel place in the area. I usually frequent Goldberg's but I was close to A&J so I decided to give it another shot. Their everything bagel definitely doesn't have everything. There's such a lack of seasoning that I could count the amount of seeds on this bagel. Might as well of gotten a plain bagel. Bought bagels at 12:30 Bagels were very hard and after lightly toasting still tasted like they had been lying around overnight! The cinnamon raisin bagel was a joke. There were maybe 4 raisins NO CINNAMON and were white in color and hard. Unfortunately I bought 8 bagels at $1.10 each but they are going straight to the garbage! Just went yesterday after 1 year away. Totally downhill. The little woman is as pleasant as ever. But no one else is. I could care less if they're obnoxious since I'm in and out but the bagel was not good.. First, they got my order wrong. No ketchup but salt and pepper. Also, The everything bagel was stale. STALE. Second, there was little anything on my everything. Third, my stale bagel was too dark. A&J Bagels is a distance from my home, but I make coming here a special event. They are one of the best bagel places I've been to, and I lived in the city. Their white fish salad on a bagel is a must have, but come early on the weekends because it runs out fast. Their fresh lox with cream cheese on a bagel is another favorite. Aside from breakfast food, their sandwiches are flavorful and their cold-cuts are hearty fresh slices (that makes a huge difference!!). They also have really good flavored ice coffee. 3.5 stars Bagels are solid but they skimp on the sandwiches. I ordered a turkey bacon, egg and cheese and there was a decent amount of turkey bacon on it, but there was About one egg on there (so it was gone before I got to the other half) and the cheese was not even remotely melted. That really bothers me when they don't melt the cheese-it's gross and just ruins the sandwich. All in all their bagels are good and they have a lot of options (props to them having whole wheat everything), but they need to step up their egg sandwich game. read more

This place does a great job of making your food quickly.....and right! They can whip up your favorite sandwich or breakfast dish in minutes. It's always good food and the price is very reasonable. The food is fine, not great - not bad, but my rating is based on the service. I work nearby and would often go there for lunch takeout. There was always confusion behind the line as to who was helping who, and very often there seemed to be an issue with a language barrier. On several visits I requested a very uncomplicated sandwich (ex. ham and swiss on a sub with lettuce, tomato, and mustard) - I would return to work and have just ham and swiss (dry, with no L&T), or just ham and tomatos, etc. This has happened no less than 5 times - most recently I gave my order and watched them make it, interrupting them as they prepared to wrap it up telling them they forgot the cheese, or whatever. By the time I get back to work and notice their mistake, it's too much of an inconvenience to return it. Wegman's can't get here soon enough. read more
