Haute Cuts is the kind of place that runs hot and wild, they'll keep you on your toes. First time I rolled in this joint was to get a last minute cut, but they told me they go by appointment only. After asking if I could get an appointment , they said no, so I left assuming it was some kind of secret club. Next time I was gonna get it done at super cuts but they were booked all day. So I called Haunt Cuts and they said they had a spot: great I guess the club changed their rules. Came in and they immediately gave me a spot with some dude who seemed nice. Good so far My hair isn't complicated, I get the sides shaved off completely and the top trimmed, like a real life cyberpunk dude. When he started I got the sense this was gonna go sideways, a rookie. He told me he used to be a chef for a while and this is a new line of work. Uh oh. He starts with what I assume is the Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift of trimmer shaves, but not the smooth mountain turn drifts at the end of the movie, it was the first race against that dude from home improvement where they didn't bother not smashing through buildings. Why is that kid not a prolific actor? Anyway, there were great big patches of hair. Then he says, lol he sez "This look good?" .... My dude, I looked better before I came in. After several times trying to get him to understand this, he proceeds to fumble through this cut. He kinda sorta finishes the clippers part, then proceeds to give me the MOST INTENSE foil shaver buzz I've ever had. Dude did not just want to shave the sides of my head clean, he wanted to ANNIHILATE ALL TRACES OF HAIR FOLLICLES from existence. He was pushing it so hard into my head I could feel it coming out the other side. At some point during this experience, I considered calling him daddy and asking if he wanted to handcuff me to the chair. Even still, despite the razor burn, my head was still patchy. He then proceeds to get out the *extra sharp* clippers and tries to shave the base of my neck. Somehow I managed to get cut from one side to the other. I was bleeding and they had to break out the first aid kit. I don't remember too well but at least he was able to trim the top. Also poorly. This was so bad and he cut me so much they brought a different person in to complete the cut and they couldn't even finish it well. I haven't had a worse hair cut in my life, not even the time my sitter messed up my hair for my second grade school photo. I think I'm traumatized, good thing I have a decent therapist. They gave me a ~discount~ on the service. I felt bad, physically for myself and mentally for them. I'm sure the rest of their staff can do their jobs well. Won't get me to come in again. Just beware when you come in here, make sure they're up front about the skill level of their stylists. read more

Aurora did such a great job and she spent so much time on it and it really shows!! Initially, I wanted to cut my hair from a long hair to a lob (long-bob)and I was scared! Estella took care of me after I showed her my inspiration picture! She took her time and made sure I was doing okay! She even braided my long hair that she cut as a keepsake! She shampooed my coarse, color-treated care, and was careful with it. She did a great job! A few months later, I come back and Aurora, the owner, cut my hair! She washed it and took her time in cutting it. She got me in at 6:00 p.m on a Friday night, can you believe that? Not only did she get me in, she did an amazing job on my haircut. It was exactly what I wanted and asked for. Better actually! Wow! Normally, I avoid strip mall salons, especially when it comes to my hair. I get my nails done next door (not listed on Yelp, but I recommend Nikki's Nails Too) and one day I decided to give Haute Cuts a try. When I went in to make an appointment (which you usually do not need, depending on what you want done), a lady was walking out and she said, "You won't be disappointed!" She was right! Lucy did my hair and I was really impressed. She was able to find the right shade every time I wanted to change the color. She was able to so without damaging my hair! (I went from blonde to black and she was able to get me back to brunette and my roots still aren't showing 6 months later) The staff is friendly and very professional.
