You are made to be a character in a story, but you only realize it as it goes on. The first two scenes alone will have you rattled mentally. Your mind is purposely messed with and you will still be thinking about it long after it's over. Prepare to get intimately involved with people you would rather not, and even some you might want to. The acting is good. This small group of young men and woman clearly enjoy what they're doing and have taken time and effort to perfect their role. The story and characters will stay with you, and so will your interactions with them. It isn't for the faint of heart, however, this is mind-f*ck territory. It isn't all bad. I found myself re-evaluating how I viewed relationships in my own life. Nyctophobia will get you to think about things that you prefer not to think about. This is Saw-esque horror with a purpose, but far less gruesome. The low budget is hard to ignore. It is less than half the production size of 2011's showcase. On the bright side, the smaller scale creates a more intimate setting with less over-worked employees. Eric came out and talked to my friends and I afterwards to ask our opinions. He can't be older than 21. If he asked me, I would say that he would excel in a theater/film production career. He already has a cult following with Nyctophobia. Unfortunately, this craft is too often lost on the masses, who prefer 'boo!' over fear you have to think about. I'm not a hater. I enjoy the pop-out scary haunted houses as much as the next girl. SPOILER: they blind fold you at one point and slide you laterally on some sort of conveyance that really does disorient you, and is thrilling. it is something i haven't experience before in a haunted house and i go to a lot of them. so it was a new idea. they also make you crawl through a van which is pretty scary as a setting, and they had a guy with a giant baby head, which i have seen before, but not ever quite so effectively. it's a trek from nyc, but i would do it again

Some of the restoration is ongoing, but there are many rooms that feel like walking into a time machine set to pre revolutionary Long Island. On the second floor we were shown two very spartan rooms reserved for the family's slaves. This is a glorious resource for anyone who cares about local history.

People are systemically moved through, it is a well oiled machine. We arrived before our reservation on a Sunday night at 730, relatively empty when we first got there. Parking lot packed when we left. It is an enjoyable experience and never the same. If you are not down for the frights they will allow you to wait in the "festival" area and hang out. There is covered seating outside as well.

Other than the fact that the slope is not that pronounced, any seat should be fine for viewing. Now for the important points.......We saw "The Fantasticks," the longest running Broadway show from 1960 to 2002. Jerry Orhbach actually played el Gallo, the narrator, in the original who opens the show with the beautiful ballad, "Time to Remember." Well, this production followed that proud tradition. Every actor was excellent and very talented.......the narrator, the boy, the girl, the two fathers, the mute........they were all superb. Bravo! A job well done. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Tip: on weekends when the Dime Bank is closed it is OK to park in the adjoining parking lot. We confirmed that with the theater.

It was a true story about older people who auditioned for the half time show for a basketball game. It was funny, entertaining and sad all at the same time. The actors did an amazing job. As far as the singing, some were better than others, but I think part of the problem was, some of the microphones were not as loud as others. It was still really awesome, and made the reality of getting older sobering and funny at the same time. I am not sure how long this show is running, but if it is still at this theater, you should go see it. I was able to only sneak two photos, since we weren't allowed to take pictures. I would go back to see other shows here. It's a great theater located in the great town of Port Jefferson!

Although this festival has been around for years, this was my first visit on Sunday December 8th,…read more2024. It started off great as we were able to park in the Marina parking lot for free! This festival is geared toward kids and family fun! Pictures with Santa, roasting marshmallows, and ice skating. The Village Center was the site for the "Festival of Trees". Local business themed Christmas trees all decorated for the season. Vendors of all kinds set up their wares here as well as in various locations throughout the village. The highlight of the event are the performers who are dressed up in 19th century Victorian era costumes. Some are stationed at various points, giving out directions. Others are meandering around the village spreading Christmas cheer, "Happy Christmas to you both!" Many stop to talk to and take pictures with the children and their families. We heard they parade down Main Street and stop at the lighting of the Christmas tree. Both activities which I missed...no doubt buying something from a vendor! The weather was unusually balmy for December. It did not take away at all from the cheery Christmas feel. I wish I had known about this event when my children were younger, I definitely would have visited with them. Truth be told, Christmas is my favorite holiday! I had a wonderful time... From Newsday to News12 all saying come to Port Jefferson and experience the Dickens festival! Really? Over the years, I have seen people getting dressed like the characters?! On Saturday I run errands. I like to come into Port Jefferson and grab a specialty coffee at Starbucks. Starbucks during this weekend is slammed with tweens and parents drinking frappachinos. Parking? Forget about it, every spot is taken. Port Jefferson is a mad house with people trying to get a free marshmallow..... And why do you folks feel the need to get dressed like a Chimmey Sweep??
