The atmosphere was perfect! It was early Sunday morning, and there were already a few locals inside having their morning beer and reading the newspaper. I did some exploring because it looks so small on the outside, but you get in, and it just keeps going and going. Looks like they get large crowds during the evenings, and even offer lots of live music and DJs. The bartender was friendly.

Step out back and find a covered & climate controlled patio that is huge! They have a large smoking patio area (you can't smoke inside in Ireland either). Thru the patio, you can see a big events room that you can host a reception, party, meeting, whatever. It's been a few months since my last visit, but I've heard they have a new beer garden too! Oh yes, the drinks...the Guinness is perfect. You can get almost any tasty beverage here from a nice bartender. The owner is hands-on and always working to keep this place top notch.

Walked…read morein the door, few men sitting around the bar, horse racing on the TV and the mandatory 'your not from around here look' There was a stove burner in the corner and as soon as we walked in we could smell the turf burning, it was the perfect stop off! We made ourselves cosy in front of the stove, the barman came over and added more turf so yeah, it's a place on a cold winters day where ye'd just sit there all day, read the newspaper, sip over a few pints and just zone out. Barman was friendly, brought drinks to the table and also helped us with directions :-) As we were driving it was unfortunately just the one we stopped in for but would have stayed longer had the car not been with us.

I went for a cup of seafood chowder to start, followed by the steak sandwich. The chowder was just okay in my opinion. A bit too salty and not as thick as I like it. However, I may be a chowder snob. The steak sandwich in the other hand was unreal! Chunky chips, thick sliced bread and the most tender cut of steak. Perfect for a sandwich. I engulfed all the food. The chips were a winner. Fureys tends to be a busy spot, so you may have to wait to be seated. The staff are amazing and handle your wait really well. We were seated and taken care of really quickly. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing by.

Go to Trim, tour the castle and abbey ruins, walk the Porchfield loop, grab a pint at Marcie Regan's and then go back to Brogan's for the rest of the night. Paulie and Fergie were as welcoming as can be, and we ended up playing Bingo with what had to be the entire town in the bar on a Thursday evening. The food at the pub was wonderful, the room was warm and comfortable with ample free parking in the back, and there was a full Irish breakfast waiting for us in the morning! It was a really, really lovely time and one of our best memories of Ireland.

Warmly greeted and brought to a table, a waitress took our order and brought back beer a few minutes later. And then the meal arrived. A thick sliced of roast beef on top of mashed and roasted potatoes with other vegetables. All topped with a rich gravy. The beer was cold, the meal was tasty and there were certainly enough potatoes. Other than the beef being a bit more well done than I would have liked, it was quite good. Inside, the background music was peaceable and this was a pleasant stop for the roast. Was in for Sunday lunch here and ordered the Sirloin Steak (€15 good value) and was looking forward to it but somebody made a mistake with the menu. Not the friendly waitresses fault and I ordered the Turkey and ham instead (I felt it was far enough past Christmas to start enjoying this dish again). Food arrived in good time and I had ordered no veg but half chips/half potatoes. Somebody is on serious portion control here. Not that there wasn't enough but I may be used to a bit more being piled on my plate. One roasty and one scoop of mash and a side plate not over flowing with chip. My only other minor issue was another one or two more fluid oz of gravy wouldn't have gone to waste. Food was very tasty and I polished the lot (portion size was probably spot on). The password to get in is knowing where it is and being invited helps but is not always necessary. If you go you gotta try the bucky and smoke special, however if you just fancy a beer or maybe even a white russian all drinks are available once you bring them with you. Smoking is outdoors only so the place is nice and fresh inside and the smoke breaks are quite social. Theres usually a game of shithead or darts going and you can always give the arcade machine a go too. If your lucky you might even catch a movie night on the big screen and major sporting events are sometimes hosted aswell. The locals are friendly if you know them but can be hostile to newcomers initially. Not the kind of place you'd go if you were out to score but for a nice relaxed evening of boozing and always stimulating conversation she's your only man. *NB* Beware of the cat.
