Shortly after walking through the door, things took a turn. I was given the intake form which I completed. Then I was told, I had to pay before my services were even started. The woman at the front told me she would "maybe be leaving early" because she had "stuff to do." She said you normally pay after but I would be paying before. Worst case scenario, I was racially profiled and made to pay early. Less worst case scenario, I was still treated differently than normal and as a first time guest. I wasn't offered any refreshments or anything. I stuck it out because my boyfriend put thought into it, but the experience was ruined before it even started for me. I hoped the massage would make up for it...it didn't. My door was left open which is weird considering I had no clothes on and the massage was just alright. Once completed, the masseuse left the room with my door open again for me to have to get up nearly naked to close it so I could get dressed. I turned on the lights to see the satin pillow topper that was removed once I turned from lying on my stomach to my back during the massage was on the floor. I'll include a picture of what I saw and was lying on. I quickly got dressed and made my way to the exit where a choir of employees started the "excuse me, excuse me!" chant as if I was running out without paying. If you're going to make me pay ahead of time, communicate that to others so I'm not accosted while trying to leave. All and all, I won't be coming back and I don't know how they have good reviews.

I left with a heat induced migraine. My family and I visit this spa often, but after today we will be reconsidering. We had to leave early since the heat and stuffiness was unbearable. It's so warm in the main area, it's the same temperature as outside (where there's a heat advisory) and it's almost the same temp as the charcoal room. The charcoal room actually felt cooler because it felt less stuffy. The cold room was almost room temp and was packed with people trying to cool off. Multiple people were fanning themselves or drenched with sweat. We've asked multiple times for the AC to be lowered, where staff informed us that it was the lowest the AC could go. No other measures were taken to help with the heat, no fans or anything were put out. Our family came to celebrate two birthdays and were hoping to relax. We were not able to relax at all and instead wasted $200 at this not enjoyable establishment. We asked if we could get a partial refund, which the spa stated they could not. They offered us travel size soaps as an apology, which I declined.

Today, my friend had a 90 minute massage with Kristee and I had a 90 minute massage with Angie. They both were incredibly good. The best massage I've had in a long time. Plus, they are both so nice. More expensive than I've ever paid even on a cruise ship, but I get it-it's a resort town. Everything went great until it didn't. Be aware that in the end, they charge a hefty credit card fee, as each therapist is an independent contractor. We didn't know this. With their already high prices (conveniently including their own chosen amount tip already included for themselves) the credit card fee can be well over $20. Then I'm also paying a credit card fee on the top? Nah. Since I'm not really into paying unnecessary fees, I was then told that one technician takes only Venmo or Zelle. And the other ONLY Zelle. This complicated things as we don't typically use those payment apps (we do use Apple Cash, but neither accepted those. And of course we weren't carrying around $700 in cash. (I could have brought cash, had I known). So then the uncomfortable awkwardness came. Yeah I could have just paid the fee and been done but I was aggravated that this was not disclosed anywhere on their website. Not that they were independent contractors nor the % fee for credit cards nor the limited payment apps. We double checked while there and couldn't find anything on their site. Additionally when I made the reservation I was prepared to prepay and offered but the receptionist stated that we would pay at the time of service, which is most frustrating because she didn't mention why or anything about additional fees or limited payment options. So, all the stress that was just removed IMMEDIATELY came back. It was embarrassing also because a large party came in and crowded the small waiting area and some other older technician came over and demanded we pay NOW so they could begin with their new clients. I thought she was "the boss" but no, just asserting power. Because of that I'm tempted to even lower another star rating, which I did just because of that. Our therapists were nice about it, but looked worried, which they needed not be. We are good people. We worked it out with making a phone call and having the 2 payments sent. But I thought people should know this before they go: The techs are independent contractors. They each add on their own tip (as stated on their website) but how much that is-you don't know Some techs only take certain types of payment And one older tech was not compassionate about the situation and pretty much humiliated us for not wanting us to pay extravagant needless credit card fees. We will try a different place next time. But at least others will know if they read this.

However, it got a bit better later, mainly because the manager was really great with the way she handled matters. I would give the place a 2 starts and her attitude and work ethic a solid 4.5 starts. Overall this averages out to 3.5 stars. First the disappointment part: In my opinion this is not worth the price it definitely left a lot to be desired in terms of quality of rooms. Our 2 room suite had broken furniture in the living room, bathroom and the sliding door between the room was broken. The bathroom window curtain rod was broken and actually came apart and fell down while I was showering with rusty nails falling in tub. There was no walk-in shower which might be okay but the tub was also not cleaned well and a bit rundown. For people traveling with kids or lot of luggage, please be aware there is no concierge service/bell boy or carts, there is also no way to disembark from the car with luggage before parking. Parking is a walk away, so be prepared to walk with luggage. There is a valet service which will help out at extra cost. The room service ends at 9pm. On the first day, the customer service was not good. We got more "No" than "Yes" from the front desk but the customer service improved next day and the hotel manager was really great (Henrietta) which made up for the first day and drove me to give it a 3 star review). We requested a roll over extra bed/mattress. I don't have a comparison of the quality of this in other hotels but the bed we received was like a hospital bed and very uncomfortable to sleep in. The suite faced the front road so lots of traffic sounds and road sounds through the night. The redeeming part: The hotel manager was super helpful and understanding when we expressed our concerns. She saved the day for us, upgrading us to a bigger suite for the next night. While we ended up having some issues there as well, she was sincere enough to remit us one night's stay due to all the issues. Note that the suite we were upgraded to was historic and beautiful. If you like the haunted history associated with this hotel, this would be the suite to book. We did not experience any spooky stuff but the charm and age of the walls and the medieval castle feel was enchanting enough. The suite was surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains. It was lovely. Overall, beautiful, historic place with charm and a bit of intrigue but I don't think the pricing per night is a reasonable fit for the quality of the rooms and services offered. The rooms could use renovation and modernization without impacting the historic quality and architectural elements. Better staff training to ensure all staff are courteous and passionate about customer service, better upkeep/maintenance, pest and insect control and longer hours of room service /dining would be great. Great manager, thank you Henrietta for your professionalism and service, your attitude and saved the trip for us.

Every detail is thoughtfully designed to create an atmosphere of peace and elegance. Emily at the front desk welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. Her smile and genuine care immediately made us feel valued and at ease. After being escorted to our changing rooms, we spent time in one of the lounge areas, which was incredibly comfortable and tranquil. The refreshments were fresh and thoughtfully selected, the rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained, and the music was perfectly set at a soothing volume. The Tuscan Villa Suite was simply perfect -- intimate, romantic, and beautifully prepared. We enjoyed an unforgettable massage experience accompanied by champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. Every detail felt luxurious and intentional. Our massage therapists, Amy and Leesa, were extraordinary. From the very beginning, they made us feel completely comfortable. Their calm, soothing manner and professional warmth created an immediate sense of trust. Their skill was remarkable -- it was clear they weren't simply performing a massage, but truly working to release deep tension with strength, precision, and care. Their ability to combine strength with gentleness is admirable. At one point, I even drifted into sleep -- a true sign of complete relaxation. They weren't prepared for the amount of people scheduled to be in the room. They were short one chair for my husband. My hubby and I waited patiently outside the room for them to bring him a chair while everyone else went in. By the time they set up his chair, everyone was already lying down in their chairs with their blankets and eyes closed. My husband's chair was placed in the back of the room right under the fountain light. Before I had a chance to say something, they announced, we will be closing the door and shutting off the lights. Therefore, I didn't say anything, assuming this would include the fountain light my hubby was under. It wasn't. His light remained on. He tried his best to use the blanket he grabbed to cover his eyes from the brightness. I couldn't enjoy my own experience knowing he was placed in such an awkward position in the room. Once the session was over, I kindly asked the staff member to stay back so I can show her that his chair was placed right under the light in an awkward corner of the room. She immediately said, well you could have moved the chair around. We actually couldn't have based on the size of the room and them bringing us in at a later time, when everyone was already laying down in their chairs with their blankets. Overall, I tried to voice our disappointment with the experience in a respectful and discreet way. The employee became defensive instead of listening to our concerns. She chose to argue back. The employee finally said sorry once we were at the check out counter in-front of everyone, making it more awkward for me & my husband. We paid everything in advance, and when we were trying to leave, she stopped us and said she needed to check we were good to go. Making us stay there longer, just waiting. We don't recommend this place due to the customer service. They only offered a 50 discount for a future experience with an expiration date. We don't plan to come back.
