I was regularly pushed down stairs, shoved into lockers, punched, strangled, spat on, and kicked under the desks. My classmates would pull my hair, throw garbage in my face, steal my food and publicly humiliate me on a daily basis. Teachers watched it happen and did nothing. Some teachers even encouraged this behavior. My parents informed the higher ups about what was happening and I was punished for "provoking" the bullies. I watched this abuse happen to other students as well, most of them were targeted because they were on the autism spectrum or physically disabled/disfigured. I am writing this as a warning to parents. For the love of God don't send your kids here.

I'm always thoroughly impressed with the demeanor of the students, staff and faculty here. They are always super polite and professional but caring and kind. The buildings and campus are beautiful. Remind me of an Ivy League campus. Their academics are up at the top for Cleveland and center for research on girls are revered as one of the best internationally. They are cutting edge with their programs, second to barely any across the world. If you can find someone to take you on a tour (right inside the front door to the right), do it.

Cleveland Montessori stays true to the Montessori method outlined by Dr. Montessori, and in these turbulent times, especially in the public education and curriculum space, it is comforting to know that my daughter is learning from the time-tested materials. The other thing that is important to me about raising children in our culture is that the school is screen-free. The children have a warm, analog space to love to learn for a lifetime. Lastly, it has to be noted that the school is housed in a century-old building with character, nestled in historic Little Italy blocks away from University Circle, and they walk (in all weather) to a fabulous playground in the neighborhood!
