I just don't think Hatfield's is for me. As always you should go and form your own opinion from your own experience. Lots of people seem to like this place and you might too. I tried them back in 2017 and again this year - nothing too bad, but also nothing that really impressed my taste buds. I've tried the pork dinner, brisket dinner, biscuits and gravy, corn fritters, apple cobbler and while I have had worse, I have also had better. I really do not like the sweet mac & cheese they offer, nor do I like the pancake style corn fritters - the taste for both is just off to me. The brisket dinner is served chopped up and I prefer sliced brisket with a little fat. I will say that the large biscuits are good (nice firm outer crust with a soft fluffy inside), just not enough gravy served with them at least for to-go orders. The dill ranch sauce they make is pretty tasty, but is a dollar extra. There was a little issue when I checked into the business on Yelp. A coupon was offered but the owner said she never signed up to advertise with Yelp, but then later said she did a long time ago, but then said again she didn't. Idk, it was a weird interaction. If you no longer accept the coupon you agreed with Yelp to offer then it's your responsibility to follow up and have that removed so that your customers aren't caught in the middle and confused. I do hear their burgers are pretty good and that people who have dinned have had a positive experience so I might try them again later on down the road. read more

Was there last weekend for Slasherfest IV. Great atmosphere, helpful staff/ bartenders, and hands-on chef/owner. Everyone worked their butts off! This is sloppy and authentic food - it won't dazzle your Instagram with its plating, but it will sit happy in your tummy. If I could rank 'em for their breakfast alone, that's an easy five-star - they're one of the three best in town - but their dinners are merely "tasty as heck." This place reminds me of a cooler version of the Cracker Barrel. I love the decor and the miss matched furniture. It gives it a great home like feel. So from what I had I believe that this is North Carolina style barbecue. I walked in and the staff was immediately super friendly and accommodating. I had never been here before so the woman behind the counter was more than willing to help me go through with the menu and explain the process of ordering and picking up your food. I ordered the Brother Andy's pulled pork plate. The pork was good however I felt it was a bit dry, I should've asked for more sauce that's on me. But the flavor was very good. The potato salad was awesome! I am obsessed with potato salad and this really hit the spot. I could just eat an entire plate of those corn fritter cakes. One is not enough! So delicious sweet and melts in your mouth. The coleslaw was good too and I'm actually pretty picky about my coleslaw. I wasn't a huge fan of the brown sugar mac & cheese it was just a little too sweet for my personal taste but I can see how other people would like it. It was good quality mac & cheese it was just too sweet for me. Lastly they gave me a free bread pudding because I was the first time guest and I just thought that was really awesome that they did that. Actually I've never had bread pudding so I have nothing to compare it to but it was delicious. I can see the customer service is very important to this place as well as serving good quality food with good portions for a good price. I've never seen one of the food trucks out before but now in the future when I do I will definitely stop by because I know that I can get something really good for a good price. Ate here with some friends last Chrstmas time. I got a pulled pork sandwich & it was Delicious ! They had both been here before and had nothing but good things to say. We ate in the bar area. The rest was not open. I don't remember what my friends ate but they both enjoyed what they had. We split a order of nachos which were kettle cooked potato chips , pulled pork & barbeque sauce. Honestly for a pulled pork sandwich (which I love the name "Devil's anus pulled pork") Was great and My wife had the Ruben which I think the flat top was a bit oily and could be scraped off a bit but overall amazing! I would just have one advice drop your oil and clean it every day. Heard good things and have been meaning to try this place, so when I found myself in the Kamms neighborhood in Cleveland, I stopped in for lunch. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and wraps. I chose the meatloaf sandwich and a side of the bacon brown sugar mac and cheese. The sandwich was served on 2 fresh pieces of texas toast, the meatloaf was nice and moist, and was complimented with a tasty sauce. The mac and cheese was well prepared. Gravy had Good flavor, but the best part was the amazing buttery biscuit My daughter and I ordered the sloppy Joseph. A full fledged yummy sloppy joe topped with a creamy cole slaw, house made bread and butter pickles and house made pickled jalapeños. You get to pick a side, she chose bacon Mac and cheese and I chose homemade fries. I prefer a crispier fry but the flavor profile was good and my daughter enjoyed the Mac and Cheese My son chose the fued'n burger minus the coleslaw. He enjoyed his burger as did my husband who chose the shroomy burger which says it all. My husband also had a bowl of tomato soup. Ate breakfast at the restaurant today. I ordered the Hillbilly Benedict and asked for the egg to be scrambled instead of fried. After the waiter put the order in, he came back to the table and informed us the restaurant could not scramble the egg and would only serve it like the menu described. How are you not be able to scramble an egg? It was an option on the Hillbilly Breakfast as well. The table next to us placed their order with several changes and adjustments, including requesting an egg be scrambled, and their requests were accommodated. Once the food was brought to the table, the Benedict and two orders of sausage & gravy were cold. It seemed like the food was premade, "heated up" and brought to the table. Not impressed enough to go back. Edit in response to owner comments: The menu doesn't state "specialty items" can't be modified. Maybe that's something the restaurant should consider adding. Also, the owner was quick to pass the blame back to me for not having a good experience. If times have truly been that hard, the restaurant wouldn't pass the blame back to the reviewer and instead respond in a way that would make the situation better and encourage the reviewer to come back and support the business. They also don't realize our server brought our food to our table and didn't come back to it until he brought us our bill...so how was I supposed to inform someone the food was cold if the server never came to check on us after it was delivered. Finally, if you don't want people reviewing your restaurant like the owners last response to my review, then block your business from appearing on Yelp. I love that almost everything is made in house and I've over heard that a few of the recipes are "passed down through generations of the family" - I put quotations because I'm pretty sure that Chef back there is ACTUALLY Devil Anse Hatfield who faked his death in 1921 and is an immortal vampire who turned his wife - who is a total babe with dreads, btw. So really it's just still his recipe which means Devil Anse Hatfield (or "Ken Hatfield") not only was strong and fierce who could take on the devil himself, he is also a phenomenal cook. P.S. We went to Hatfield's Goode Grub recently.  All I can say is I can't believe it took us this long!  First of all, the staff is professional, friendly and efficient.  We especially love Emma & Belle The food is exceptional.  If you love burgers, you will find a great menu selection.  My husband's new fave is the "All In Burger" which features pulled pork.  All kinds of sandwiches, dinners and appetizers on the menu!  Warning!  If you don't try the brown sugar bacon mac & cheese and banana pudding you will be sorry.  Hatfield's is a fun place to eat.  The decor is so cool!  We haven't hung out at The Hollar, but hear the music is great.  Thank you Ken, Jessica & Jamie for making Hatfield's Goode Grub a wonderful experience for our community and visitors.  Oh, by the way you've got to take home some Maw's Nuts.  My husband loves them so much we got 10 jars last time! read more

We looked forward to eating here for a couple of weeks before having a chance to stop in based on positive reviews from other sites. We stopped in for breakfast with high hopes but quickly had our expectations lowered. The breakfast menu is very limited. So limited that you can't even have toast with your eggs and hash. The food we ordered (Hillbilly Benedict, Hilbilly Breakfast with bacon and eggs over hard, and the gravy and biscuits) were all pretty bland and overall just not that great. With the exception of the hash, that was delicious. Other complaints are lack of drink options. They did have juice, soda and coffee. But juice at 2.50 for a 8 oz dixie cup was a bit much. And 2.50 for a CAN of soda is ridiculous. You also seat yourself, walk up and order your food, run to the back and pick up your own food. Then you can bus your own table while you're there as well. This would all be fine but you pay when you order and they point out the tipping options. I understand the model of having the customer do the work, but to ask for a tip on top of that is not cool. We did tip well but immediately questioned ourselves as to why we did so. Overall we did not enjoy the experience. read more
