I enjoyed my meal and the staff working was doing an excellent job of keeping the tables and lobby clean. We had seen hat creek while running errands in the area and finally had a chance to stop by. Their playground is outstanding. A family was doing their kids birthday out there; which we got to see the team do amazing getting a catering sized order ready for them while taking care of the normal drive thru and dine in traffic. The burger one of us got was better than most fast food burgers; but we still have a few that top this one. My kiddo liked the chicken kids meal; and the sauced chicken was decent. They use really good pickles for their fried pickles. The fries were just ok; and I thought the shake would have been bigger but it was still good. (I had ordered a small shake; they brought out a medium because of a delay but it looked like what I would call a small at places like Sonic or Braums.) We swung by Hat Creek Burger Company recently. They have a great playground which was in use for a birthday party during our visit. The staff seemed to do a good job of taking care of a catering size order they had for that group. As well as taking care of us along with any others that came in. All of our meal was decent enough; the fried pickles ended up being really good. Plenty of seating indoors and on the patio overlooking a playground. They have a lot of sauces with slight ranges in flavor, sweeter, more tangy, and a nice balanced sauce. We ordered the big hat, cowboy, and the classic. Overall the burgers had a nice balance of flavor but the biggest thing is ordering the cowboy with no onion and the burger having onions along with all of the burgers being wrapped and not labeled. As a matter of fact, the reason I gave this a higher score was because of the care and service that the lady at the front counter gave to me and my wife. Her attitude made that difference. They also have enough variety to be able to choose a different type of burger often. The fries were seasoned and great While I do not have any young children, I do appreciate the big playground that they have. I loved hearing all the kids, laughing and playing. Bonus for that! I came here with my family for dinner on the last evening of July. There is absolutely no air conditioning working in the restaurant. When I asked about it, a heavyset man with a beard and an apron told me "It's not broken. It's the way it always is in here." The best visit we had, we used our USAA debit card and the teenager at the window automatically applied a veterans discount AND gave our dog a treat. Decent food, exceptional service, and mixed feelings about the atmosphere land Hat Creek in three star territory for me. My +1 is afflicted with the cruel conundrum of being a burgers and steak fan who has beef and dairy allergies. Enter Hat Creek with their veggie and turkey substitutes. I had to keep reminding myself "this is fast food", albeit fast food dressed up quite nicely. Hat Creek boasts a large, indoor/outdoor sitting space that seems perfectly designed for Covid-friendly eating, and a versatile menu that has something for everyone. They have a combo meal option that includes a beer or hard seltzer. And I cannot say enough about the service, which is more than just friendly and timely. There's a sincerity behind each interaction that reflects extremely well on management and the culture of the business itself. If the review relied on service alone I'd be giving 10 stars. My nits start with the food. I ordered the Little Hat, a 1/4 lb burger. For me the bun just doesn't work. It's closer to a pretzel bun than the traditional soft, bready burger bun I personally like. In my two visits, the burgers have been dry and border on not-quite-fresh temperature-wise. The tater tots are very good. The fries are way too much like a more-seasoned version of McDonald's style and cut, better suited for kids. Sweet potato fries were better. But they're still too skinny and long for me to be able to enjoy a mouthful. Dipping in the small ranch containers provided was problematic as well. The square paper containers that stand up on their own are worth an honorable mention for table cleanliness and ease of eating. We also tried an order of fried green beans which were very good, but both over-price and over-sized. A half order for half the price would still have been more than we could eat. The other extra I went for was the mocha shake, advertised as having "real coffee". But, nothing was real about it. It tasted like a powdered mix. The menu takes a while to figure out. I get the intent is to create a branded semantic for the food. But too many new names for things just makes the line slower. My gf was still confused about what a little hat was (sounds like a kids meal) when ordering the second time. I kept having to go back over it with that "wait, what?" feeling. Nit #2 is the design and experience of the room. If my first impression was the clean and cheerfully designed exterior of the building and large, enclosed climbing structure, my second impression was the sticky guard rail that defined the line to the counter. I mean movie-theater-floor sticky. I involuntarily touched it multiple times and recoiled each time. Once I leaned on it and my shirt peeled back off when I stepped away. Eeww. The tabletops in the indoor/outdoor seating area feel the same. It's possible that some cleanser that's being used excessively due to Covid practices now is causing it. But, we switched seating. The tables are also too densely packed for us to feel that we could walk through without having to come within 6 inches of a myriad of non-mask wearing adults. I appreciate that alternating tables are marked as "do not sit here". But they're still so close together and people are not masking up to move around the room. We found ourselves timing our trips to the restroom and exit routes. Nit #3 the climbing structure is a Covid Petri dish. We brought our ten year old with us the second time and there were 8-10 children playing unsupervised on the play ground. One wore a sports uniform as if having just come from a baseball game. This type of interaction is not allowed in schools currently. It seems like a colossally bad idea here. Not sure whether to put that on the business or the parents in this situation. But we avoided it. I really, really want to love Hat Creek. At the price tag of $37 for two adults and a child, I'm conflicted. That includes the green beans ($6), which I won't order again. But the three of us can eat for $18 at Braums where my first bite of the burger is always hot and soft with the ingredients well mixed, and fries that are crispy, fresh, and thick. What will keep us coming to Hat Creek is the non-meat options. And we'd like to try the breakfast menu. And honestly, beer :) But my advice is: don't go during a rush, keep your kids off the play ground, sit on the outside picnic tables, and expect to pay $3-$5 more than you would at another fast food place. I'd also recommend to Hat Creek to pull the tables out that are not in use to provide better clearance for walking. It's impossible to social distance, particularly in the indoor dining room, when the restaurant is busy. If I had three thumbs they'd all be up for the service. The next time you're near Golden Triangle in Keller then you should check out Hat Creek. I went to Hat Creek to support my daughters school and I'm glad I did. My 2 most favorite things about the place are: the French fries, and they serve wine! They also have a good ranch dressing, so for me that's an added bonus. The burger patty tastes a little like sausage to me, but it's not terrible. If you have kids and you want a place to grab a bite, then this is it. There is also a play scape for the kids to have some fun too. The staff is friendly and did I say they have great ranch dressing?!?! Lol. I recommend giving this spot a try. read more

We stopped in for a quick meal this weekend and were wildly surprised at the prices. I know that I'm going to be harsh on this review for a drive-thru restaurant, but I will base my review on the pricing. We ordered 2 Cowboy Burgers with the meals at a cost of $28.75. This burger was ok as far as taste goes but definitely was not worth the $14 (including the meal). The burger has two 1/4th lb patties, cheese, bacon (so thin that it had no flavor), onions, 1 pickle slice, and bbq sauce. The meal upgrade included fries that are a shoestring style with a seasoned salt sprinkle that was good and a medium coke in a plastic/branded reusable cup. The food was ok, but for the price, I would've expected a burger on par with a sit-down restaurant. Even with the current inflation, I would value the meal we received at $8-10 each and because of this overvaluation, we likely will not return. read more

To begin with while ordering we had a few questions in regards to the way their hot dogs for kids were made as we're trying to get more information the manager shut it down by saying "it's protocol" no regards to even trying to listen to what the request was.. my son is 3 years old and autistic and very specific about the way he eats his food. I understand there's rules and can roll along with them just from the customer service side maybe show a little more empathy and at least listen! We have been watching this new restaurant as it was built and excited when it finally opened. I decided to make a to go order on the way home from work and give it a shot tonight. It was fairly easy calling in and ordering my dinner. That's where the benefit or ordering ahead ended. I got there and found out that there's no "to go" counter. So I waited a good 15 mins in line with everyone else that was dining in. When I asked them why no "to go" counter...they didn't have an answer. So no use ordering ahead for your food to sit there and get cold while you wait in line. I ordered the Classic bacon cheeseburger and the loaded fries they come with cheese and bacon. Nice combination huh. Well by the time I got home (2 miles away) and sank my teeth into the burger...I was pleasantly surprised. It seems a double patty is standard. The beef tasted very good and the bun wasn't too thick. Now the cheese fries? Not much to write home about. Very thin and cheese ok about 1/3 of the fries. I've been debating trying this place a few times and broke down and did so last night. It wasn't the worse, by far, but definitely missed a few marks for my wife and I... Let's start with the fries. They were seasoned and very well, BUT they were also very thin and ate a few that were hard due to being overcooked. I got a burger with pepper jack cheese, grilled jalapenos, onions, etc. Unfortunately my burger was smashed, so had to use a fork and knife to eat it. Also bit into 1 spot that tasted like a ton of salt was in, so wasn't evenly seasoned. Flavor wasn't bad, but nothing special. On my wife's burger, she selected regular American cheese, but she received shredded cheese. She also asked for no onions, but had a few onions on hers (said not a lot, so might have noticed it late and tried to pluck them off or something) The drinks, we got with the combo were also nothing great. My wife got sweet tea and said it didn't taste sweet at all (this is Texas, sweet tea needs to be sweet). I got a peanut butter specialty shake with mine. It tastes very good, but was so thick had to use a spoon to eat it and straw was completely worthless, and the smaller cup the shakes came in wasn't completely full either (paid extra $2.50 for this shake) The other issue was that my wife put she wanted extra BBQ sauce to dip her fries in, but that wasn't there, at all. No napkins were in the bag either. So while there were some good things about it, it definitely missed a few marks, but was worth trying someplace new, even though don't see myself returning to this burger place. read more

This is a great place to take the family. They have an out door playground that is fenced in. They have covered outdoor seating with big fans where we sat to eat abs watch the kids play. They also have indoor seating if you want up sit in the a/c. The food was good and inexpensive. We all had different kinds of hamburgers and fries. I had a turkey burger. It was good not great.
