    Receipt of refund
    James M.

I purchased a hat here 4 days ago. I wore it twice and the bill was already separating from the hat itself. I brought it in today WITH receipt and bag. I was told by the same guy that sold it to me that he couldn't return it because of the "wear and tear" on it but would gladly exchange it. Now, I asked him why he wouldn't return it with receipt and bag in hand and he said because he "couldn't put stickers back on it and sell it, because it didn't look brand new". The hat is 4 days old, lol. I asked him why would he try and resell a hat if I was bringing it back because of a manufacturing defect. That just means someone else would be purchasing the same hat I returned with defects and all at full price. The receipt says 30 days, so I told him he needed to refund my money and he did. Even though he was going against "policy". It doesn't match up. Receipt in hand, manufactured hat that was purchased 4 days ago in hand and all I wanted was my money back. Because I asked questions on how and why they would normally "put stickers back on it and resell it", I"made him refund it because I feel like he didn't want to answer my questions or didn't know how to answer them. Seems pretty shady for a company to put stickers back on a $40 hat that has been worn by someone else and was being returned for a defect, but I guess that's their choice. Bummer. 2 stars only because I got a refund and the guy was somewhat decent, other than just trying to get me to switch it out for another one when I specifically told him I didn't want another hat. Also, their color selection is pretty poor.

Andrew that turned out to be harder to find around town than expected. Several other shops simply didn't carry Gus crowns at all. At Heritage, not only were there multiple Gus-style options, but they were available in the size we needed, which made the difference immediately. Rich took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for, walked us through the options without any pressure, and clearly knows his craft inside and out. The depth of inventory and his experience really show. If you're serious about hats -- especially if you're looking for a specific crown shape or fit -- this is a place worth visiting. The selection and knowledgeable, straightforward service set it apart.

When I asked about the difference, I was told that prices have been going up and are expected to rise again in January. He told me he was waiting to update his website then. That meant the price advertised online wasn't honored, even though it's what brought me into the store in the first place. I ended up driving about 30 minutes each way only to find out the actual price was more than $100 higher than what they publicly posted. I left disappointed and won't be returning. At the very least, the website should reflect current pricing, so customers don't waste their time.

Matt is the one that helped us this afternoon and I would just like to personally apologize for the…read moreheadache he had to endure. I needed 27 hats embroidered for my company and to get them I visited the Tempe location but they didn't have enough stock to complete my order. I bought what they had then came to this location after being told I could find the rest and get them all embroidered here. Turns out that this was entirely wrong as you can't purchase hats from a different store location and take them to a different store to have them worked on. On top of that, my company has done business with Lids before and has gotten a different rate because of the high volume of the purchase. The store in Tempe sold me the hats at the wrong rate (she sold them to me buy one get half off). So on top of having to call almost every store in the valley trying to find the hats necessary for my large order (because what store this size would just have 20 of the same hat just lying around?), getting the run around from the DM, taking care of other customers in the store that came in behind us, and knowing his only coworker stayed over an hour beyond his shift's end, poor Matt was finally able to resell me the original hats so they were at the correct price (I'd have had to buy the hats at their full prices plus $11 extra for the embroidering work if he didn't). He was trying so hard and was splitting himself in so many different directions it was absolutely painful to watch. Almost everyone he talked with on the phone was speaking in circles (I could tell because I was standing right next to him when he was on the phone), the DM refused to believe him about not having the correct stock and made poor Matt call around to practically each and every store in the valley just to scrounge of the correct amount I needed; he could have just fixed it so I could order in the correct amount since I'm not on a time limit, and then was no help when Matt was trying to find the correct rate at which to charge me. On top of that, when Matt was finally able to find all the hats I needed, he now had to figure out how to get said hats to the store, making an even bigger mess for him, all because the DM refused to believe the words of his own employee. Matt was an absolute wonderful worker and he finally was able to find out what the correct price was and the logo I needed after almost an hour struggling over the phone trying to get people to tell help him. On top of everything else he ended up being the only one working in the store...on a weekend afternoon. Yes it's Sunday, but the time of Sunday being a day of rest is gone. The store was packed non-stop. This is not a good work environment. I don't care how small a store is: there should be at least two people working at all times to avoid the problem of one worker getting tied up taking care of a situation and not being able to look after other customers. To sum up: Matt was amazing and patient, the other coworker (who's name I never got) was wonderful for staying as long as he could to give Matt a bit of a break, Lids needs to really teach its staff how to handle conversations over the phone, and the DM needs to learn that employees wouldn't just call you to lie to you about a problem so writing them off and demanding they check again wastes their time and the company's money. Thank you again to Matt and his coworker for going above and beyond to correct mistakes and deal with difficult upper management, those five stars are for you!

Another great small Black Owned Business!!!…read more Need a hat? Why not stop here for one! Not only do they sell hats for those Country/soul line dancing divas and demons but they also sell other products. (Respectfully) I purchased a perfume oil from here, months ago and have been looking for one similar which has been impossible to find. Upon entrance, the Owner and his girlfriend were nothing but friendly, professional and are awesome humans! What a lovely couple! The oils are honestly my favorite since the smells last all day long. I'm always receiving many compliments on my scent. Don't hate! When I share with others, of the scent I'm wearing and where it's from, they are shocked that the store is here and that they haven't gone. I definitely recommend you stopping over to shop and support all of these black owned businesses in this street. This store is a vibe especially during first Fridays of each month, as there's tons of other small businesses joining in on the funtivities. There's music, fun, vendors, food trucks and great vibes!! There's plenty of parking in the area! Btw ...the scent is called, "INVICTUS" (Smells so good!) Please tell them, that I sent you!
