One word. GARLIC. There are was so much garlic in the "oil" they bring out I had to spit it out. It was almost caustic. The pesto sauce was severely lacking in flavor and also had way way too much garlic. The food here is poorly executed at best. Olive Garden is better. It's really too bad that this area is lacking in good restaurants so badly. I tried it so you don't have to. It sucks. Simple as that. This place has been around for many years, and to be honest, the first time I visited, I was less than impressed. But it was so long ago, I couldn't even truly remember why. Just that I was underwhelmed. Fast forward to last weekend, when I was having a "date nite" with my oldest, who has yet to meet lasagna he doesn't like. I decided, on a whim, to give Hasta la Past another try (it's been at least 10 years). And I am very happy I gave them another chance! My son DEVOURED his lasagna, then used the warm dinner rolls to finish the sauce on his plate. I had mussels in white wine garlic sauce and a delicious salad with grilled chicken, strawberries, mandarin oranges (I am GF, and while they have GF pasta, I wasn't in the mood for it). Very good! We are going back this Friday for my birthday dinner! read more

This was easily a 5-star restaurant before it was flooded and reopened. I used to come here quite often years ago for date nights and even had our wedding luncheon here. It had a nice ambiance with classy music and nice string lights zig-zagging above in the main dining area. Now, I come here and they removed the string lights and they were playing 50s music, not Italian at all. Their lightbulbs were all mixed in temperature, not the same brand or color (cool white bulbs do not feel warm and inviting). Their bread was changed, it's okay but it resembled grandmas biscuits more than bread typically found in an Italian restaurant. I preferred their original bread hands down. Their food was mostly the same but lacked in presentation and wasn't quite as flavorful as it once was. I added some salt and it was good. There was no freshly grated cheese when they offered, they just spooned it on my plate. I don't want to pick on the staff too much but they didn't seem as personable or friendly. There was a hair in my bread and I sent it back. There was no, "oh I'm so sorry about that" it was more like, "ok, I'll get you a new one." I could have rated this a 2, but I'll give it a 3 because I still enjoyed the food which for the most part tasted the same. These should all be simple easy fixes and will greatly improve the overall experience. Please bring back the Hasta La Pasta I knew and loved. read more

Food was amazing! Had the shrimp scampi salad rolls and of course the lemon drop. Our waiter was amazing hate I forgot his name! The salad was fresh, bread was warm and scampi was perfect. Great food and great service. We made reservations on Saturday for Sunday lunch. Our name was not on the list for a 1 pm seating. The hostess and manager were very responsive to the error, and took care of us promptly. Our table ordered chicken Marsala, Salmon, and Chicken Piccata. We 2 Caesar Salads, and one house salad. The Caesar Salads were good, but the salad greens were not very cold and crisp. I believe this affects the taste experience, they were very cold and crisp on my last visit. The house salad was rated very good. The first rolls we received were not very warm, we ate them and ordered more and they were warm and crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Lexi was very responsive to all our request. My daughter ordered Chicken Marsala with Mashed Potatoes. She said it was outstanding. My wife ordered the Salmon over the Angel Hair Pasta, and was very pleased with the flavor and freshness of the seafood, I ordered the Chicken Piccata. I thought the dish was going to be the same as when I ordered the Chicken Marsala on my last visit. I thought the dish was good and fresh. I believe the flavor of the sauce was weakened by the amount of Angel Hair Pasta served with the dish. My preference would have been that it was served as the Marsala was served. No worries not a deal breaker. We were presented a fantastic looking dessert tray. We chose the carrot cake. While it was good it seemed and tasted like it had come from a refrigerated environment. The presentation was fantastic, but I think warming it slightly, would have unleashed a much better flavor and texture. My coffee was fresh brewed and very good. The customer service and hospitality in this restaurant lead by the manager, who by the way shook my hand and hugged me when we became seated, is great. Kudos to the ownership and management. My family and I have tried this place twice. The first time, the waitress and food were pretty good. The second time the waiter literally took 20 minutes minimum before even taking our order. I requested extra dressing for salad that had been ordered as an appetizer. The dressing did not get to our table until the food arrived. The food on this visit was not desirable at all. I expressed my concerns to Rodney, and he patiently helped me plan the meal. I decided on quarter pans of Cannelloni Pepe, Shrimp Scampi, Caesar salad, and an order of house rolls. I returned two days later to pick up my order, and I was met with prompt and courteous service. The entire process was extraordinarily easy on my end. My new favorite place so far my favorite appetizers are the stuffed mushrooms, meatballs, calamari, & spinach artichoke dip. The Cesar salad is good the dressing isn't overpowering at all. My son got the kids chicken Alfredo which he polished off the plate with the leftover garlic bread from our artichoke dip. I had the Hasta La Pasta with beef which you get a beef sirloin it's really tender the flavor is great! It's a mild spicy my son was able to eat is and enjoy it from sampling some from my plate. We were on our way to church when We saw this restaurant. I had seen this on my way to Katy and had thought the name was catchy and I definitely wanted to try it. Boy am I glad we stumbled across this gem today :) We had meatballs to start, house salad and caesar salad be fore our meals of Hasta la past with chicken (jalapeño fettuccini noodles in a poblano cream sauce) AMAZING! My hubby had chicken Marsala. The mashed potatoes were great and seasoned well. The chicken was good but to sweet for our liking. Coffee and carrot cake for dessert! They make all their desserts in house and it was some of the best carrot cake I've ever had. This will be our regular place for Italian now. read more

I'll start by saying that the food was excellent. It's never been in question. However, the restaurant tanks in service. We arrived here and were greeted by a nonchalant hostess that was probably counting down the minutes till she could go home. We were sat at a table 45 minutes after we arrived (which is understandable given it's the day before Mother's Day) but half the section was empty and had been the entire wait. The bread took forever to arrive, glasses of water came only when asked and were dirty (and then given to a different table), and our appetizer was completely forgotten. We had to cancel the order because it wasn't put in and only was when we asked after twenty minutes of waiting (and the bread had only just arrived). The waiter seemed confused when we asked though he had written it down. We asked for more bread and when we asked about it again, he said "thanks for reminding me". He failed to ask about dessert so when we asked, he said "oh most people don't ask for it so I didn't mention it". Then he listed desserts that couldn't be taken home. While the food itself was incredible, the sour taste was left by the lackluster care of the service. It was evident no one cared about their jobs. Maybe next time we just take food to go. read more

Our trip to Hasta La Pasta was okay, but nothing special. Decorations are minimal, probably due to COVID (no tablecloths, cloth napkins), though the service was extremely quick! The food was basic Italian cuisine such as pastas and pizzas, with many seafood options. My food, the Shrimp Pesto Pasta, looked delicious but lacked flavor aside from the sun dried tomatoes. The Shrimp Scampi (typically light with a lemon and olive oil sauce) and Chicken Piccata were both in a cream sauce and tasted incredibly similar, as though the two were cooked in the same sauce. Portion sizes here were ridiculous! I feel like two people could have shared one dish and there would still be leftovers. I'd say this restaurant serves "American" Italian food in Texas-sized portions. The star of the show truly was the Tiramisu -- soft and spongy with a generous amount of chocolate shavings on top, and big enough for two of us to eat it comfortably. read more

Italians have a way of describing things: expressions that don't easily translate into English, especially when certain dialects are used. As a child, I remember my Nana used an expression in Italian to describe the quality of fruits and vegetables that she'd sometimes find at the local market that roughly translated to "neither here nor there." In essence, she was saying that the escarole or peaches (or whatever) were average; if there was nothing else available she'd perhaps make a purchase, but given other choices she'd pass it up. Hasta La Pasta reminded me of this because it, too, is "neither here nor there." A very nicely arranged and decorated restaurant that has a pleasing ambience of music and adornments, my lunch companion and I were seated quickly. Few others were here for lunch on the day we went, so service was very attentive, albeit slightly clumsy at times. Our drink order was taken and quickly delivered along with a small platter of olive oil for dipping bread (which was to arrive shortly) while we perused the menu. Shortly after our order was taken, our warm "rolls" arrived. With extra virgin olive oil for dipping, I anxiously unwrapped the rolls, fully expecting a hard-crusted bread (a requisite for any Italian bread). I was disappointed when a basket of soft dinner-style rolls sat before me. I tasted one: rather average and not really anything resembling Italian bread (or at least Italian that I grew up eating). I had chosen the Soup and Sandwich Combo, which was a half Chicken Pesto sandwich and Tomato Basil soup (choice of two soups were offered). The soup was adequate; not the best I've had nor was it the worst. The sandwich was about the same: sufficient but certainly not delicious. Yes, Nana, "neither here nor there." As I stated, service was acceptable and we tipped accordingly. Lunch was delivered in a reasonable amount of time with no undue waiting and parking is certainly ample. But the food served at this "Italian Grill"? Well, it's "neither here nor there." That's probably the best way to explain it, but it would be so much more descriptive if my Nana were here to say it in Italian. read more

Here's the truth about this restaurant. The name is interesting. The service is good. The place is nice, not too upscale looking.. but still nice. The Happy Hour is great!! $3 Bellini's and Margaritas and $5 appetizers until 7pm!! There is outdoor seating. Prices are low to moderate. The food is just OK.... We ordered Calamari and artichoke as an appetizer and I was not impressed. I ordered something that was not on the menu for dinner, and they were really accommodating. Too bad I didn't really enjoy it. It was chicken and rigatoni in a marinara sauce. It smelled delicious and looked amazing, but the taste was a different story. I would have given them two stars, but the happy hour is good enough for 3. Sadly, everything was just OK... I think I will stick to Happy Hour at this place. read more

Me and my family of 5 arrived to eat and this place and it was empty and they sat us at a 4 top in the bar area with five people leaving no space for the fifth person and while trying to make it work by moving closer to the windows a women with purple/red hair came up to us and in a attitude said we couldn't sit there due to a reservation where there was no signs or visible showing of a reservation being established so in frustration we concluded we would be leaving from the "lack of space" she was stating they had and while leaving frustrated she proceeded to yell at us to "make a reservation" so I do not recommend coming to this establishment because of the lack of costumer service shown witch is unfortunate because me and my family have been long term customers and we're severely disappointed read more

This is my favorite Italian-American restaurant in the city so far. The atmosphere was clean, rustic, and well organized. The staff are very friendly. Let me tell you about their bruschetta. The bread itself is so crunchy. It stands up well to the sweet tomato, fresh basil, salty cheese and thick balsamic vinegar. It is a MUST try. For me, what separates a great Italian-American restaurant from a good one is the lasagna. It was very well composed, from the slightly sweet tomato sauce, to the al dente pasta, to the flavorful meat and creamy ricotta cheese, like a symphony in your mouth. I really like this place! It's one of those places where I keep ordering the same dish because it's soo good! I've tried other things but keep returning for the Cannelloni Pepe! It's made with chicken, smothered in some creamy cilantro sauce topped with diced tomato, bacon, and pieces of cilantro. Seriously a must have! The place is quite big but which is why it's not always packed. Pretty clean. Nice staff. I didn't give them the last star because the bread that they always give you is usually nice and warm, but it was cold today. I love Hasta La Pasta's chicken marsala but they never put enough marsala sauce on the chicken. I can get fried chicken anywhere.... so if they don't put enough sauce I feel like it was a great waste of my money. Today I ordered extra sauce so they put a tiny bit on the chicken and gave me a tiny bit on the side.... maybe I should not have asked for extra then maybe I would have got enough to eat with my $16 fried chicken patty..... and I don't like the veggies except the carrots. Usually everything but the carrots is overcooked. But they can't give me only carrots or mostly carrots..... I should not have to complain... I have spent a lot of money ordering from them during the pandemic and started slacking because of this. I guess shame on me for risking it. read more
