Cajun pasta, delish but very spicy

We ate here last week, it was my second time & it looks like they've remodeled since the pandemic. The service was excellent, the young ladies were prompt & friendly. The food was great! Very tasty and Italian!

    Verona

When we first walked in the lady across the counter said we could order at the counter or have a waitress come by. We chose to order at the counter. I ordered the half size Verona which had cilantro cream sauce, bacon, mushrooms and penne pasta. It was delicious! My husband ordered the chicken Marsala which was very fresh!

Pesto chicken (left), the Hasta (center), parmesan chicken (right), Classic pizza (far back center)

The Hasta and the classic pizza have definitely ranked on my too fav plates here. So good!

One of my favorite Italian restaurants. Food is really good and sauce is great. Bread and pesto oil dip is excellent.

I had worked up a good appetite from walking around and Italian sounded good. When I arrived it was around 5:30 and I was the only one there. I wasn't sure if they were open because it was pretty dark from the street and the open sign was not illuminated. I was undecided on if I wanted take out or dine in but I wanted to try some specials and see how the service was so I opted for dine in. This night was an odd one because center pointe had shut off their gas and locked the meter. So they were unable to cook/heat. I decided to wait because I think it's nice to be kind to local establishments and they all seemed a little stressed. After about 10 minutes I was told it would be okay and they sat me at a table. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to come back to me. I could hear them in the kitchen saying go take care or that lady a few times and eventually someone did come out. I ordered a glass or house Chianti and the crab cake. Chianti was nice and smooth. They brought out complimentary bread with a salmon mousse and olive tapenade. I did need to ask what the dips were as the person that dropped them off did not explain what it was. The crab cake was cold in the middle. When the server came over I did mention it was cold and they remade it for me. It was much better hot. For my entree I got the Seabass. I also ordered the lobster fish for my husband to go. The seafood portions were generous. They did clear my utensils so when my Seabass was served I had nothing to eat it with. No one really paid attention or noticed this so after about 5 minutes I flagged someone down and said I needed utensils so I could eat. Seabass was good, I would probably try something different next time though. The star of the show was the tiramisu. I thought it was incredible. I loved the chocolate chips it in and all the fresh fruit around the sides. At this point the service became slightly better but I never had the same server or person helping me. I had to remind them I had asked for a dish to go. All in all I had a nice meal but I felt it would have been better had someone on the staff at least acknowledge my patience of the fact that I waited though the gas problem and the lack of consistent service. A small thank you or even a complimentary dessert or glass of wine would have gone a long way in making me feel valued. Instead I felt like my business wasn't appreciated and the service was very inconsistent. It would be a solid 4/5 stars with that improvement.

I don't do fast food. I don't do frozen food. I'd rather spend my money on a new car or an epic vacation (because 30 years of fast food would = a new car or epic vacation . . . Or two). The last great pizza that I had was in the Chicago area over 3 decades ago. I don't pay for "brand" pizza with cardboard crust covered in processed sauces and toppings. Spouse suggested delivery from this place since we were busy watching the Olympics. I ordered a "build your own" pizza. It's deep dish dough topped with mushrooms, extra cheese and ham. I also requested (and received) 50% less sauce (because I like to taste all of the ingredients, not just the sauce). I will admit that I was delightfully surprised. First of all, it was made to my specifications. And I don't know what "Detroit" pizza is supposed to encompass . . .but mine was good. Crust was crispy on the bottom and sides but once I got through the crunch there was a chewy hot dough. The cheese was great, i.e., didn't taste processed. Spouse says "ditto" for his which was loaded. I will pay premium price for premium food. Luckily, with Sapore's, you receive premium food for a reasonable price. *I might add: dinging a pizza place 3 stars for its website updates vs. accurately reviewing its food isn't fair and those reviewers who have done this know it. You have to question their ulterior motives (offer of free food?)

We came to order certain items that were shown on the website and NONE of them were offered anymore. Management needs to get on that. Can ya say that's like false advertising to someone looking for those items and can't get them. We did order something else because we had made the trip out there already. The pizza was good and they should be given credit for that. The spaghetti and meatballs was a hard pass and the garlic bread was hard as a rock. I inquired about the HUGE change of menu and the advertising on the store window and was informed that they no longer are carrying all those things and the young man sincerely apologized for the inconvenience. I wish I was able to say more positive things but until the website is updated and the window advertising changes , I have to stick to this review. If it's pizza ya want, then give this place a try anything else, do your research.

I asked for a drink recommendation and she gave me two great options. I chose the Tres Cucumber and it was amazing. Refreshing, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced with a clean cucumber flavor. My husband ordered the Old Fashioned, which was also very well done. We shared the fudge brownie for dessert and it was rich, moist, and elevated with just the right hint of espresso. The atmosphere is comfortable and versatile. It works just as well for a date night as it does for a girls night or a casual meet-up with a friend. 10 out of 10. We were lucky enough to get a table along the perimeter at the window so we had a nice view and could still have conversation. We ordered some flatbread for the table (variety of 3) and they were somewhat underwhelming, neither warm nor cold, and appeared to have just had items dropped on top of them. Having ordered them once (to go) from this location as well as in-house at the Town & Country location, where they were very good both times, somebody was just a little off their game today. We also ordered shakshuka, which was very good and wiped away the memory of the less than stellar flatbread. I would definitely return here again and try other things.
