Flume's End - More breakfast

I am so grateful to have stumbled across this jewel of a Bed and Breakfast online. From our arrival…read moreto our (sad) departure, Flume's End was the perfect getaway place for an old friend and myself. In addition to the room itself being sparkling clean and extremely comfortable with all we wanted/needed (we stayed in the Peach Tree room) we were greeted by Priya with genuine warmth and given a tour of the entire property with all its beautiful amenities - natural and man made. The property is secluded, and has a fairy-like quality with a sweet little stream trickling through it that our lovely host had thoughtfully placed seats in, allowing for sitting and cooling our feet as we breathed and enjoyed the oak trees. There were plenty of other places to be outside, and fairy lights ringed the property allowing for nighttime outdoor seating. Truly magical. That it is a block away from the old downtown Nevada City was icing on the cake. It was the inn itself, however, that managed to take our breath away at every turn. The entire place is lovingly curated with vintage treasures, from the antique teacups that decorated the exposed beams to the artwork ... down to the ornamental details in every fixture. We were truly stunned and delighted, and kept discovering new and fabulous antiquities throughout the visit. The breakfast was perfect for us - eggs and pastries and fresh berries, amazing yogurt and good coffee, all served in the finest vintage cups and plates and silverware. Again - I cannot say enough about how wonderful Flume's End is. I can hardly wait for another visit. Thank you, Priya and Flume's End!

Great experience beginning to end. Greeted warmly by owner (and staff as well). Comfortable room…read morewith ample space. There was a sunroom/game room available at all (reasonable) hours. Breakfast was chef-made and delicious. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. (I'm writing this over a week later, so forgot some of the details, but it's well worth a stay). Oh, and I left behind a couple of items and the owner graciously offered to send them to me.

The place was cute, clean and well maintained - sort of on the B&B side of a motel. The property is…read morelocated 40 mins from the entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park (in light traffic). The park was why we were there. We stayed for 5 nights. They don't even begin serving breakfast until 8:30 am. You won't get out of there until an hour later. It puts a serious dent in plans to get out and hike in the park. The first morning of our stay, breakfast was one piece of rye bread, spead with hummus and two over-easy eggs on top. Nothing else. What other surprises awaited? For the rest of our stay, we did not hang around in the morning to find out. Paid for breakfast at Lola's down the road instead. That was really good. Also - the place is lacking some motel room type amenities that you would otherwise expect to find, especially when your guests are National Park hikers. No in-room fridge or coffee maker. Housekeeping visited once during our stay. Not a bad alternative for park visitors, but little understanding and attention is being paid to the needs of their clientele.
