Feeling light that day I decided to go for the greek salad. Ripe red tomatoes with beautiful leafy type things drizzled in olive oil. It's clear I don't have salad often but by Jove's it was tasty, a word I thought I wouldn't use in my life. The staff were fantastic and had a great laugh with them as I tried my very broken Greek with them.

The first, possibly more sensible option, is to go to a restaurant that has been recommended by a trusted friend, or to a restaurant that is known for catering to people unaccustomed to the cuisine. This is certainly safer, as you're trying foods you already have an idea on, and probably know you'll enjoy. The second, stupider and my preferred method, is to drive passed a place, say "I've never eaten that kind of food before. Let's go there tomorrow!" and refuse to hear any arguement on the subject. What this lacks in common sense, it more than makes up for in excitement. You may wander into a restaurant and having one of the best eating experiences of you life! Or you may have chosen to eat at a poorly advertised dry cleaners, and end up embarrassing your girlfriend and the owners of the establishment. Normally though, my method serves me well more often than not. Aphrodite was one of the occasions when it didn't so much. I found the food a little bland and uninspiring. However, I have since discovered that it may be because I don't like Greek food. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great though, so if Greek cuisine is more your thing, you'll have a great time.

I likes nothing more than getting a cup of tea a slice of gâteaux and relaxing upstairs with the newspaper or writing up my reviews on the free wifi while dreaming of holiday's and ignoring all the calories i'm consuming. The service tends to be a bit on the slow side but I don't really mind the wait because I know it'll be worth it. It's really good for something a bit different and certainly is a lovely treat!

One day, we'd just had lunch and I wanted something sweet but I thought 'well, why stay here to have pudding? we should go somewhere else and I can get two reviews in one!' So, thinking that (but with a lazy boyfriend in tow) I went to Pipi's, just across the street. Boy, am I glad that we did. It was beautiful. The cafe itself (with indoor and outdoor seating) is really very cute and the food. Oo-wee. It is real good fresh food - cakes and pastries and other delicious edibles. And for cheap too! I would definitely go back - and intend to introduce all of my friends to it.

I don't possess a…read morethorough knowledge of the Classics, but as far as I'm aware, Adonis is a Greek God that was revered for his beauty and physique, (a kind of Classical equivalent of today's most adored movie stars, that tend to be legends in their own lifetimes), who was the love interest of Aphrodite, and died tragically way before his time. Adonis is essentially seen as sexy these days... which is hardly surprising considering his union with Aphrodite. So, the fact that this terrible proper Halal takeaway bares his name, makes my smile every time I see it! It's fair to say that City Road is awash with kebab houses these days, all vying for diminishing business, but this is one of the better ones. Not only is it far superior in appearance than some, the quality of the food is streets ahead, placing it in the top bracket for the area... and that's some achievement amid such fierce competition. They are certainly not the cheapest fast food outlet on City Road, but I believe that it is worth paying for quality. I recommend that you dig a little deeper in your pocket the next time you venture onto City Road for a takeout, and give Adonis Kebab House a try. You won't be disappointed. They have recently extended the business to offer eating in as an option. The surroundings are pleasant enough, and the service is good. I recommend any of the lamb options, and the Kofta Kebab.

Any hoot this place has a clean kept shop with a nice appearance and the presentation of the food is good. I only ever have doner kebab so I'm a little biased but they do it well and i'm pleasantly surprised. As just another shop of this type along an awfully long road with many similar establishments there seems no reason to choose this one over any of the others.
