When trying new foods, I find there are two different modes of thought regarding how to go about it.
The first, possibly more sensible option, is to go to a restaurant that has been recommended by a trusted friend, or to a restaurant that is known for catering to people unaccustomed to the cuisine. This is certainly safer, as you're trying foods you already have an idea on, and probably know you'll enjoy.
The second, stupider and my preferred method, is to drive passed a place, say "I've never eaten that kind of food before. Let's go there tomorrow!" and refuse to hear any arguement on the subject. What this lacks in common sense, it more than makes up for in excitement. You may wander into a restaurant and having one of the best eating experiences of you life! Or you may have chosen to eat at a poorly advertised dry cleaners, and end up embarrassing your girlfriend and the owners of the establishment.
Normally though, my method serves me well more often than not. Aphrodite was one of the occasions when it didn't so much. I found the food a little bland and uninspiring. However, I have since discovered that it may be because I don't like Greek food. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great though, so if Greek cuisine is more your thing, you'll have a great time. read more
